Chapter Twenty-Three
Arabella
Kendra had telepathed that Abbott would be pleased if I fit in with this threesome as their fourth.
This came as a huge relief to me, because I wasn’t sure what happened when we’d healed Kieran, but I needed to feel it again.
Not the healing part, but the portion where I fit in with them. The energy. The magic.
Queen Sophia has always made me feel special and loved.
The Dragon King has also made me feel special and valued.
But the energy I shared with Kieran, Gwen, and Ajax touched me all the way to my soul.
It was as if the four of us merged into one.
I was part of them, and they were part of me.
Vampires, wolf, and swan. Was it even possible?
I expected Ajax to be rough with me. We were short on time, using a bathroom that would likely have a line formed when we came out, if we were in for longer than a few minutes.
And yes, he made quick work of fucking my throat, my pussy, and finally my ass, but he wasn’t rough.
He played with my clit while he fucked me from behind with me leaned over the sink.
He told me how he was used to vampires, and how my body heat had him so close to an orgasm, so fast. He told me I could give him what the vampires couldn’t — a warm body, and companionship during the day. Someone to eat his meals with.
He went in my ass while his dick was still soaked with my pussy juices.
He’s huge, but I was still orgasming, and he timed it exactly right, so I had pain and pleasure together.
A few minutes later, when he ordered me to come, my body obeyed the command a half-second before it registered in my brain.
Ajax came with me, and I once again felt an exchange of power I wasn’t used to. Wolf and swan. It shouldn’t work, but it did.
I leaned forward and rested more of my torso on the sink, my head down, my hands braced on the porcelain. He pulled out towards the end, squirted some on my back, and rubbed it into my skin in little circles.
“Mine. Master Abbott and Queen Sophia will have to give the okay before it can be official, but you’re mine. Unless they invalidate my claim, I give you my word I will protect you with my life, if necessary.”
I turned and looked at him, my jeans still around my ankles. “Is it your life to promise?” Gwen said he’d been given to her and Kieran. I needed to understand their relationship better.
“It is. There are specific legalities that prohibit Abbott from giving me a full release. He owns me and is legally responsible for me under Concilio law, but my willpower is my own. My life is my own.”
He kissed my forehead and leaned down to pull my pants up.
“I had my own apartment for months, and a job working for a security firm. I did okay, but I needed more. Abbott knew I wasn’t fulfilled.
He saw I was miserable, so he gifted me to the Doyles as a Christmas present.
I know it sounds as if that makes me a slave, but I’m here because I wanted to be a personal bodyguard to a single person or family.
My pants were a little snug, so he worked to pull them up over my butt while he talked.
“I didn’t enjoy the short-term assignments, where I had to get used to new people after a few days or a few weeks.
Abbott gave me the option of a bodyguarding job where I could also be sustenance to my employers.
It was exactly what I needed. Abbott pays my salary, since he gave me to them.
I’m his employee. I can get a different job if I’m unhappy with the one I have. ”
“You’re paid? You have your own money?” My heart beat faster. Terror took over. I tried to breathe through it, but I couldn’t help it.
He lifted me in his arms and cradled me to his chest. “Hey hey. If you don’t want your own money, we’ll figure it out. Being mine means I take care of you. If you need me to handle that end of it, I can, or the Doyles can.”
I leaned into him and tried to breathe. He said he’d take care of me. It was going to be okay. Sophia wouldn’t let me go to someone abusive. If she approved this, then Ajax would take care of me. It would be okay.
When I was breathing normally, he settled me on my feet, finished fastening my jeans, and rested his hands on my shoulders. He’d already fastened his pants, though I didn’t remember when.
“Are you ready for me to open the door? Anything else we need to talk about?” The bathrooms were pretty close to soundproof. We’d hear if someone knocked on the door, otherwise, you only heard really loud sounds through the barrier.
“No, Sir. I think we can go.”

Kieran
Eventually, Kendra decided to go against orders and join the fight. She’d stayed with us and out of the battle until she found out Katya was close and heading towards the fight. The two left together, and we wished them Godspeed.
I wanted to leave with them, but I hadn’t built up enough strength. Ajax wanted to go with them as well, but his loyalties and responsibilities were to defend us, so he stayed.
Fawn took over in Kendra’s absence. She was in charge, but she isn’t trained in security.
Kendra put Ajax in her seat, watching the monitors, with Fawn nearby.
Arabella should’ve gone back into the inner chamber, but I didn’t want her that far away.
Gwen and I had our swords, Ajax had three guns on him plus a sword, and our little swan had nothing to defend herself with.
“Have you ever been taught how to fight?” I asked her.
“The Dragon King insisted I learn to shoot a weapon. I don’t like the violence of them, but I’m quite good at it.”
Without turning, Ajax asked her, “Do you know what you shot?”
“A bunch of them, actually. He said most of his people carry Sigs, and so that’s what I shot the most. Nine millimeter, if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Fawn. Can we get Arabella a gunbelt, a nine mil Sig with a small grip, and four loaded magazines, please?” Ajax formed it as a question, but it came out as an order.
Fawn seemed fine with it, though, and it made sense.
Kendra had left Ajax in charge of Security.
Fawn was in charge of everything, including security, but she was smart enough to know not to argue with the person Kendra trusted to watch over us.
Within five minutes, another vampire brought the items requested and handed them off to Ajax.
“Come here, Arabella.” She walked to him and he motioned to the belt without taking his eyes off the monitors. “Put that on, and then put a mag in the weapon and chamber a round, please.”
The tiny little swan shifter immediately obeyed. She was clearly comfortable with the weapon, and I breathed a little easier. She slid the loaded weapon into the holster, the extra mags into the slots for them, and adjusted the belt.
“Excellent,” Ajax told her without turning from the security feeds.
“The people in this room are supposed to be the last line of defense. If the enemy finds the saferoom, it’s up to us to keep them from reaching those in the inner chambers.
The most important thing in a fight is to kill the enemy without hitting someone on our side.
I’ll let Kieran explain the pattern we’ve established in this room to try to keep friendly fire to a minimum. ”
