Complications #4
“I know! I think she did it to get back at me for being with…”
“Wow. That is cold. But Joel Miller?” Theo shivered in disgust.
“Tell me about it. I keep thinking about her and that malaka…”
“Simo, are you going to be ok?”
“As long as she stops playing games…”
“I think you both need to talk and right now.” Theo pointed over to Becky’s Audi.
Simo watched both girls laughing as they approached the Audi. Simo felt his face get hot and his hand found the handle. He jerked the handle hard, shoved the door open, and he rushed over to them.
“Jessie. We need to talk.”
“Oh… Simo. Hey, it’s late…”
Simo stepped close to Jessie, looked into her face and lowered his voice. “Now.”
Jessie’s eyes widened and she simply nodded. Simo pointed to the employee door. Jessie looked at Becky.
“Jessie… I’ll wait for you.”
“No.” Simo replied. “We’ll take her home.”
“Oh. Ok, Boss.” Becky looked at Jessie with a shrug. Jessie nodded it was ok.
Simo was then jabbing his finger toward the door. Jessie thought about doing a casual walk there just to piss him off, but thought better of it and made a beeline for the door. Simo unlocked the door and pointed forward. He stopped her by the janitor’s closet and opened the door.
“Oh? This is kinky…”
“Shut up,” Simo replied, and pulled her inside, and shut the door. “Short cut.” Simo pulled a lever and pushed the wall aside, revealing a ramp that led upwards.
“This is interesting,” Jessie quipped as she followed Simo up. She wasn’t surprised to find herself in the VIP area janitor’s closet upstairs. Simo opened the door and pointed down the hall to his office.
Jessie didn’t wait for Simo to enter the code.
She remembered it, punched it in herself, and let herself in.
She went inside, crossed her arms, and watched as Simo stepped inside and stared at her wordlessly.
She could tell he was holding back his anger and was probably trying to formulate what he was thinking into words. She decided to beat him to it.
“I didn’t fuck Joel Miller.” She saw his eyes widen momentarily and then he caught himself. “Listen I know it bothered you. I thought a little payback was in order… so I held back on the truth.”
“What? Why the fucking payback?”
“You and whomever… I was pissed, ok? You should have at least fucking hinted it to me, ok?”
Simo ran his hands down his face shaking his head. “Jessie… fuck. Listen…”
“Yes?” She interrupted.
Exasperated, he continued. “That happened quite some time before you came to work here.”
“I know. It’s fine now. I get it.”
“Fine? Not a good word coming from a woman.”
Jessie rolled her eyes. “I understand. You have a girlfriend and why wouldn’t you? I get it.”
It was Simo’s turn to cross his arms. “Good. Tell me why you left with Joel. People here think you fucked him and you like… like it rough.”
Jessie regaled Simo with her story. “I couldn’t even think of touching his thing…
so I didn’t. I didn’t kiss him either, if that matters to you.
” She could tell it did, even though he made no sign of it.
“I still have feelings for you, Simo. I can’t fucking help it.
I get that you are taken… and reluctantly I respect that.
I’m human… a woman. I have feelings, ok?
I’m not mad at you… but I’m not happy with it yet either.
Can you understand?” She saw him swallow hard and he nodded.
“I have to ask and hate to push… but if things were different… why couldn’t we be together? ” She saw his face flush red.
“I can’t. It’s impossible.”
“So you have no feelings for me?” She watched his face as his eyes looked away from hers. She knew he did.
“I can’t. I’m sorry.”
She unfolded her arms, stepped close to him, and met his sexy dark eyes.
“I gave you my word and I will keep it. But that doesn’t mean I have to like it or let you off easy.
It was a stupid promise, too long ago, and you know it.
” She took a step back and changed her tone. “So, who is this Sugar Man?”
“What?”
“Sugar Man?”
“Oh… he owns the club.”
“I thought… oh, ok. I get it.”
“Why do you ask?”
“I left out a part… I told the little bitch not to talk about tonight, or you and your boss would be upset. I alluded that I was related. Sorry, I didn’t know who he was.”
“I bet that scared the shit out of him.”
“Oh, it did alright.” Jessie grinned. “He took off so fast he almost fell down the stairs.” She saw a small smile forming at the corners of Simo’s mouth. God, she loved his smile.
“We will talk more of Mr. Sagar Manwar later.”
“You mean he’s real?”
He didn’t answer her right away. He stood there taking her in…
she was beyond beautiful... an old soul who had lived through hell, yet somehow still radiant despite it all.
He fought his feelings and shoved them down deep where they belonged.
He took a breath and answered, “Very real.” Simo met her eye and held her gaze for a long moment. “Jessie… no more games, right?”
“Fine. No more games,” she assured him.
“Good. I’m fucking tired let’s go.”
