Chapter 7 The Wound Treatment

I could not let the physicians come.

One pulse check and my identity as a woman would be exposed.

My eyes swept the surroundings and finally landed on Lu Yinchuan, who looked anxious nearby.

"Lu Yinchuan can treat wounds. Let him help me."

Zhao Yan's expression darkened at once.

After a long silence, he gave a cold laugh.

"So I was meddling."

I was taken to a guest room in the Zhang residence.

Lu Yinchuan carried me inside.

I only managed to say, "No one else is allowed in except you."

Then I fainted.

When I woke, half an hour had passed.

Zhao Yan had already left the residence.

Lu Yinchuan sat at the table drinking tea. Hearing me stir, he spoke slowly.

"Female disguise. You have quite the nerve, Chu Bingzhi."

I pressed my lips together and explained the reason.

"My mother was injured while carrying me and could no longer bear children. My father cherished her and feared the elders would force him to take a concubine, so he had me dress as a boy."

"Do you plan to tell His Highness?"

He clicked his tongue.

"I always felt he treated you differently. Now that I know you are a woman, everything makes sense. If you revealed your identity, the position of Crown Princess might be yours."

I gave a bitter smile.

"There is no need. I will never tell him in this life."

Lu Yinchuan was silent for a moment.

"By the way, Fifth Miss Zhang came by earlier."

He tossed the wound medicine into my lap. "Here. She asked me to give it to you."

Drowsiness washed over me.

I soon fell into a deep sleep again.

At night, my father sent someone to fetch me.

The carriage had barely entered the bluestone lane when it stopped abruptly.

I lifted the curtain and saw the driver had been knocked unconscious.
