CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

VELVETFELLINlove with Key Largo instantly. Jaye had made all the arrangements and a private car had picked her up from the Miami airport when she’d arrived Sunday. The beautiful villa where they were staying was right on the ocean and had everything they needed.

She loved the ocean view from practically every room and especially liked the privacy fencing, affording seclusion on the beach. The Florida weather was perfect, beautiful and sunny, and she was looking forward to spending a lot of time outdoors. This was the first real spring break vacation she’d taken since moving to Catalina Cove.

Jaye arrived Monday around noon. The moment she heard the key in the lock and saw the door open, she crossed the room to be engulfed in strong arms. His kiss let her know he’d missed her, and she hoped the way she returned the kiss let him know that she’d missed him as well.

Instead of sweeping her off her feet and taking her to the nearest bed, like she thought he would, he suggested they walk on the beach. She’d figure that would come later, after they’d made love. She pushed aside the thought that all the times they’d made love had been her idea. Never his. Why? What if he wasn’t feeling it with her like he used to? There was no doubt that he enjoyed their time in the bedroom and at no time had he held back on anything, but still...

Under the brightness of the day and the warmth of the Florida sun, Jaye kissed her again, and her thoughts vanished. She wasn’t sure what affected her the most, the heat of the sun or the heat from his kiss. She decided it was from his kiss, which was causing fire to rush throughout her body.

By the time Jaye had released her mouth, she could barely stand on both legs. She had to clutch the front of his shirt in order not to sink to her knees. He lowered his head to murmur in her ear, “Tell me what you want, baby.”

Why did she have to tell him when he knew? However, if hearing her say it was the only way she would get it, then she had no problem doing so. “I want you, Jaye.”

That was when he swept her into his arms and headed back inside the villa.

JAYEHELD VELVETas she slept in his arms. The moment he had walked into the villa, he’d wanted to carry her to the nearest bedroom. But he’d held back, although he knew that wasn’t what she was expecting. He didn’t want her to assume sex was the only thing on his mind—even if it had been at the time.

He had suggested they go outside because he had needed to get his libido in check. But after they’d kissed and he’d seen the desire in her eyes, he’d known what she wanted. Still, he wanted her to speak her desires aloud and tell him what she wanted, and then he would give it to her.

She had yet to tell him that she wanted his love. Was she beginning to feel comfortable with not having it? Well, he didn’t intend for that to happen and this week he intended to step up his A-game.

She stirred and her eyes opened. She looked at him and then at the clock on the wall. She frowned. “It’s evening, Jaye. Why didn’t you wake me?”

He smiled and tightened his arms around her. “You needed your rest.”

She snuggled closer to him. “By all rights, Mr. Colfax, you needed yours. I was hoping to wear you out.”

“You would have if I hadn’t slept on the flight here.”

“And my excuse is that I didn’t get much sleep last night at all. I was missing you.”

She had told him that when they’d talked on the phone. Velvet had called to let him know she’d arrived and how beautiful their villa was. She’d called again later to talk to him while he packed. When she’d called late at night, he’d been concerned until she told him how much she was missing him.

“And I missed you, too, Velvet. The reason I slept on the plane was because it was hard for me to sleep Sunday night without you snuggled close beside me.”

She turned in his arms and when she offered her lips to him, he took them. He loved her and hoped he was displaying just how much with every kiss and touch.

He released her mouth and said, “I have dinner reservations at one of the restaurants just a short walk from here. It’s on the beach.”

“Okay. Are you still going jogging every morning?”

He chuckled. “Yes, we’re still going jogging every morning. The sandy shores will replace the blueberry fields. Are you ready to get up for dinner?”

“Not yet.” Then she pulled him close for another kiss.

THEYARRIVEDATthe restaurant on time for their reservation—just barely. Jaye thought it felt strange to walk into an establishment together, holding hands and not caring who saw them together. They were shown to a table that overlooked the Atlantic. The ocean was beautiful at night and the water reflected the light from the torches around the restaurant.

After they ordered drinks, Velvet looked at him. “So, what do you have planned for us this week?”

He smiled. “One thing is definite, I’m keeping you away from the bedroom as much as possible.”

“Why?”

“I think you trying to kill me.”

She broke eye contact with him to study her menu. “You’re sure that’s all there is to it?”

He heard the uncertainty in her voice. What was going on with her? Reaching out, he lifted her chin so their gazes could meet. “What other reason could there be?”

She shrugged. “Maybe you don’t want me as much as I want you?”

Did she honestly think that because he was letting her decide when they made love? “I want you just as much, possibly even more, Velvet, but I’m letting you decide on when and how much.”

“Why?”

He leaned closer so his words could not be overheard and whispered, “Because if I don’t, you’ll never get off your back. My head would forever be between your legs, our reproductive parts would always be joined, and my tongue might as well become a permanent fixture inside your mouth.”

She blinked and he smiled. Hopefully, that would put her doubts to rest.

THENEXTMORNING, they got up before dawn and went jogging on the beach. After Velvet jogged her mile, she returned to the villa. Jaye was determined to do his five miles. By the time he returned, she had showered and was waiting for him.

After his shower, they walked to one of the cafés for breakfast. Just as Catalina Cove was known for their blueberry muffins, one of Key Largo’s claims to fame was their key-lime muffins. She and Jaye thought they were incredible. Later, they walked on the beach, holding hands, and he told her all the things he’d arranged for them to do during the week.

“My goodness, Jaye. I’m not as young as I used to be.”

He laughed. “So says the woman who tried wearing me out in the bedroom yesterday and last night. And as far as being young, if you recall, Velvet, I’m five years older than you.”

Suddenly she released his hand and raced off and called over her shoulder, “Catch me if you can!”

Like she’d known he would, Jaye took off after her. She figured he could’ve caught her easily but decided to let her get ahead of him. She zigzagged around him and then raced back toward their villa. She appreciated that she got there before him.

By the time he reached their villa, she had the shower going and figured he’d know where to find her. He didn’t waste any time removing his clothes and joining her.

When he opened the shower door, she teased, “About time you got here, Jaye. Those additional five years are showing. You’re really getting slow in your old age.”

“Slow?” He stood there and she knew from the look in his eyes he intended to show her just how wrong she was. They’d made out in showers plenty of times, but she had a feeling he intended this time to be one she long remembered.

Water poured down on them as he pulled her into his arms, and she loved the feel of his wet naked flesh against hers. He pleasured her first while on his knees with his head buried between her legs and then he took her hard and fast against the wall.

There was nothing slow about it. After soaping up and rinsing, he gathered her in his arms, dried them both off and headed for the bed. If she had anything to do with it, they would stay in bed until lunchtime. Her goal was to get her fill of him today since he’d mentioned they would be gone from the villa the next day.

She kept her arms wrapped around his neck when he eased down on the bed with her. Gazing into his eyes, she saw the same deep wanting and yearning she knew was reflected in hers. “I want you, Jaye. I need you.”

“Are you sure, Velvet?” he asked, sliding his tongue along her collarbone and neck.

Why would he ask her that? Couldn’t he tell? She’d been ready to jump his bones the moment he arrived on Monday. Whereas he’d been trying to lessen their time in the bedroom, she’d been trying to do just the opposite. She needed to stock up on as much pleasure from Jaye as she could before he left the cove. But if for whatever reason he needed to hear it, then she had no problem stating it. “Yes, I’m sure. I want and need you,” she whispered hotly against his lips.

“Then let me see just how badly you want and need me,” he said, tilting her body in an angle for easy entry. He thrust hard inside her. Tightening her legs around him, they moved in sync and gazed into each other’s eyes. She wanted him to see the depth of her need and want for him in her eyes.

He felt so good inside her, and when her inner muscles tried to hold him hostage, he responded by pumping even harder. Not to be outdone, she deliberately used her muscles to clench his erection even tighter.

That’s when he angled her body farther and went straight for her G-spot. She screamed his name when her body seemed to explode and that’s when he hollered her name as well. Then he lowered his mouth and ravished hers. She would never get enough of this or him, although deep down she knew she had to. They didn’t have forever, just moments.
