Chapter 34 #3

After Teagan dropped her off, Cresley went into the house and spotted Carson and Ty in the backyard, practicing on Carson’s long board, which Ethan had delivered to her house so Ty could start practicing.

She stood and watched them for a minute, loving the way Carson gave him his full attention and how Ty soaked in every word Carson said.

As she stepped onto the patio, Carson noticed her right away and raised an eyebrow in inquiry.

She gave him a thumbs-up.

When he smiled, everything was right in her world.

“Mom, come see what I’ve learned. Carson says I’m going to be a great surfer!”

“I have no doubt, honey,” she said as she joined them on the grass to hear all about the surfing lessons.

“I even learned how to wax the board.”

“That’s so cool.”

They took a ride over to Spencer’s so Ty could swim in the pool again with Theo and Mila and returned home with pizza for dinner. After they ate, they finally finished watching Iron Man before they tucked in Ty. Then Carson headed for the shower in Cresley’s room.

He emerged from the bathroom wearing only a pair of boxer briefs, which left his bare chest and healing wounds on full display.

She was sitting up in bed with her Kindle, trying to read but not getting far with her mind still whirling from recent events. “How’re you feeling?” she asked when he slid into bed next to her, like he’d been doing that forever.

She’d never been more comfortable around a man, and having him there made everything better.

“The shower felt good. I’m a lot less sore than I was, which is a nice improvement.”

“I’m glad to hear it.”

He moved slowly to turn onto his side to face her. “You’re too far away over there.”

She put her Kindle on the bedside table and turned toward him, scooting across the mattress until she was right in front of him. “Here I am.”

He ran a hand over her hair as he looked at her with so much of the love she still couldn’t believe he felt for her. This man who’d said never was now singing a whole new tune, and she was so lucky that he was singing it to her.

“What’re you thinking?” he asked.

“How the worst person I’ve ever known led me to you and how lucky I feel to be here with you.”

“You feel lucky? Imagine what it’s like being me.”

Cresley caressed his face, which was smooth after he shaved in the shower. “We’re both lucky, and so is Ty to have such a great man to look up to.”

“He said he’s thought about it and decided he wants me to be his dad.”

“When did he say that?”

“While we were waxing the board.”

“What did you say?”

“That I’d love to be his dad, but only if he’s sure it’s what he wants. He said he’s sure, but he might still call me Carson for a while. I said that’s totally fine.”

“Watching you form such a wonderful bond with him has been the sweetest thing.”

“All of this, with both of you, feels like a dream to me, because how could something so amazing be real?”

“If I’m dreaming, I hope it lasts forever.”

Carson’s hand moved over her back and down to cup her ass to pull her even closer to him. “That’s the plan.”

Her leg slid between his, making him groan. “I hate being injured.”

“What would we be doing if you weren’t?”

He nuzzled her neck and bit down on her earlobe. “I’d be buried deep inside you.”

“Carson…”

“Hmm?”

“I want that. I want you. So bad.”

He pressed his hard cock against her belly, making her moan. “Me, too, babe.”

“We shouldn’t be doing this. Your incisions…”

“Are fine, and we absolutely should be doing this.”

“Carson.”

“Yes, love?”

“I, um… I could get on top and go so slow…”

“Yes, yes.”

They quickly removed their remaining clothes, and as she moved to position herself, she wondered if they were crazy to be trying this, but he wanted it as much as she did, and if he couldn’t do it, he’d say so. Or so she hoped. “Are you sure this is okay?”

His fingers dug into her hips as he encouraged her to take what they both were craving. “Very sure.”

“Nice and easy,” she said as she took him in, letting her head fall back as the pleasure took over.

“God, I’ve been craving you and this,” he said gruffly.

“Me, too. Tell me if anything hurts.”

“I’ve never felt better than I do right now.”

“How is that possible?”

“It’s you. All you.”

As she looked down at him gazing up at her with so much love, she was overcome with a feeling of peace and contentment the likes of which she’d never known before.

“It’s all you, all us,” she said.

His smile lit up his handsome face and gorgeous eyes framed with thick lashes that every woman she knew would kill for.

She hoped she got to look at that face through every stage of life.

He’d made her believe they could have it all, and as she gently moved her hips, she wanted everything with this perfectly imperfect man, who’d risked his life—twice—to protect her and her son.

“Carson…”

“What, honey?”

“I just… I really love you.”

“I really love you, too.”

“Are you scared?”

He shook his head. “If I’d fallen for anyone but you, I’d be terrified, but you… Loving you and Ty is the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I can’t wait to do it forever.”

“That’s a long time.”

“Won’t be long enough.”

She dropped her head to his chest.

He wrapped his arms around her as they moved slowly and carefully, wallowing in the pleasure of their undeniable connection and the promise of forever.
