I have to be alone with him again? What?

Even though Dad said he didn’t have to come into the rehab center with me, I knew he would.

Puck struck me as the kind of guy that wouldn’t let me out of his sight unless told otherwise and that pissed me off.

Did Dad really not feel like I could take care of myself?

If he was actually concerned, he would’ve sent Rowan with me.

The two of us were the closest in age and shared a lot of the same childhood memories.

We thought alike, talked alike, and fought alike every time we sparred.

We were two peas in the same pod—the obvious person to send to help protect me.

So, why the hell was my father sending Puck, of all people, with me tomorrow?

Jesus fuck, maybe he knows.

Or maybe, just maybe, he saw something in Puck that I hadn’t yet. And that warranted enough time around each other to take a second look.

So long as Dad never found out that we had already fucked one another.
