Chapter Twenty #2
I hear the wheels of a car screech to a halt and all the people surrounding me tense ready for anything.
“Sagely-Wren!” The voices of Thomas, Joey and Micha yell together.
“Dad?” I ask, the concept still foreign to me. All these people care about me.
“Director S is your Dad!?” Erin exclaims.
“You’re THAT Sage?” Damon asks shocked.
“What happened?” Joey asks, he circles me and then curses.
“You boys need to fix this now before it’s too late!” Micha exclaims.
“What do you mean we need to?” Jax growls. “Don’t you think, if we knew how to fucking fix her, we would’ve by now!”
“How’re we supposed to fix her?” Hunter asks only slightly calmer.
“Is it the Soulmate Bond, is that how we help heal her?” Maverick asks urgently.
I slump forward into Jax and Kai’s arms, unable to hold my own weight up anymore, the grey at the edge of my vision descends further clouding my sight even more. I fight against it knowing that if I go into the darkness that’s calling me, this time I won’t wake up.
“Sage!” My guys yell at once.
I open my mouth to reply but nothing comes out, nothing is working properly.
“Yes, the Bond can help, all of you quickly place your hands on her at the same time,” Thomas’s voice instructs, panicked, “then repeat these words, Sors nostra precamur insertas cura anime figere quid fractum.”
I’m vaguely aware of the guys all placing a hand on some part of my exposed skin, trying to avoid my many injuries.
“I’m not leaving!” I hear Erin state stubbornly. “She’s my friend, she already told me all about the Soulmate Bond! I can’t leave her.” Her statement starts out fierce but by the end her voice has broken.
Damn, she really is a good friend already.
“Fine you can stay.” Micha says quietly.
“Get that Fox away from her!” I hear Thomas shout incredulously just as I feel soft fur, as Knot places her forehead against mine and in doing so takes away a small sliver of pain.
Enough for me to find my voice.
“No, she’s mine,” my voice coming out in nothing but a whisper. They hear me though.
“That’s impossible.” Joey mutters.
“Enough we need to fix our girl!” Levi growls.
As one they all repeat the sentence Thomas told them too.
Their voices echo with power.
As they speak, my back heats and a warm and soothing glow surrounds me, it’s comforting, and the grey begins to fade from my vision.
My strength returns and I can feel a mild itch as my skin slowly knits itself back together.
As soon as I feel the last of my wounds heal, I launch myself at Kai.
Sensing that he needs me the most right now.
He catches me his arms wrapping tightly around my waist, I catch his look of shock briefly just before I slam my lips to his in a fierce kiss, he stays stunned for a mere moment, then a growl vibrates his chest and he kisses me back with just as much desperation.
I can sense Kai’s dulled Soulmate Bond brighten until it’s even brighter than before.
I’m suddenly snatched away from Kai and make a growl of protest before my lips are claimed by Levi, he kisses me just as desperately as Kai but he takes control more, moving me so I’m straddling his lap his hand tangled in my hair.
It’s not long before I’m once again pulled away and this time I’m sandwiched between Hunter and Maverick, they each steal brief but fiercely passionate kisses before I’m handed off to my last bonded, my Jax.
He claims my lips in a slow and sensual caress and his hand slowly and ever so softly strokes up and down my back.
He places one last kiss on my lips before pulling back and looking into my eyes.
“You are beautiful.” He tells me, honesty shining in his eyes.
“Well damn, that was hot!” Erin chuckles and I glance over seeing her fan her face dramatically.
I scoot off of Jax’s lap and open my arms to her. She rushes over and buries her face in my hair.
“I was so worried Sage; I know we just met but sometimes you form an instant bond with someone.”
“You’re right, you said we’d be besties!” I pull back and smirk at her, “you can’t get rid of me that easily, besides, you owe me a drink.” My grin turns sly.
“Oh, nuh uh, girl. I dropped more than you, first rounds on you!” she grins at me.
“What?” Kai asks.
“They made a bet, the one who drops the most guards wins, the other one buys the first round.” Dash explains.
“No way, seriously?” Jax replies.
“Yep your girl is a badass.” Damon says chuckling.
“Although she could probably do with some lessons about not taunting your captors and also not burying your emotions where you can’t reach them.” Jett chimes in and I scowl at him. The guys will not be pleased. The Jerk just chuckles at me.
As predicted the guys all turn to me, scowls on their face handsome faces, thankfully Knot comes to the rescue and distracts them as she jumps onto my chest in her fox form licking my face.
The guys all panic not understanding. They all lunge for her but just before any of them manage to grab her, she winks at me and turns herself into her raven form launching into the sky.
The guys all stare in shock and Kai, who was mid lunge when she flew off ends up falling on his face, I chuckle and rush over to him ignoring the frozen forms of my guys as they all stare up at Knot hovering in the sky.
“Are you ok Kai?” I ask, sweeping his hair back from his face, he doesn’t open his eyes and just as I start to worry that he has actually hurt himself, he peaks one eye open.
“Need...Kiss...To...Make...better!” He says haltingly, gasping for breath, the dramatic ass.
Wanting to give him what he wants anyway, I lean forward and gently give him a kiss on his cheek before licking him all down the side of his face.
“Eww Beautiful, what was that for?!” Kai exclaims sitting up and rubbing the side of his face.
“For being dramatic.” I inform him smiling and blowing him a kiss. “Knot, come down here they won’t hurt you.” I call up to the raven.
She flies down and lands on my shoulder her massive size meaning she can easily rest her head on mine as she keeps an eye on everyone.
“What is that?” Jax asks.
“She’s mine.” I state simply and receive a nuzzle from Raven Knot.
“Okay, but what is she?” Maverick asks.
“Fuck if we know.” Damon explains.
“She just showed up and started helping when we were in the warehouse.” Dash adds.
“She’s not a normal animal and she’s connected to Sage somehow.” Erin adds.
“Change forms Knot, I want a cuddle.” I say to her as I listen to the conversation around me. Within seconds knot has transformed back into her Fox form. She promptly curls up on my lap.
“What the fuck? I know we just saw her do this but WHAT the fuck?” Kai curses.
“I don’t know, honestly. I just know she’s mine and she’s special. When I had my emotions behind a barrier she knew and she used her magic to nudge the barriers.” I explain.
“She’s your familiar.” Thomas says.
“My what?”
“Not here, let’s get back to the house and we will explain once everyone is secure and resting. Your mother is quite desperate to see you.” Joey says.
My heart warms as he mentions my mom being worried about me, I turn to Erin not quite ready to say goodbye.
“Do you want to come back with us?”
“We need to do some catching up of our own!” She winks at me and I grin back despite the sudden sadness at her departure.
“We will do the debriefing at my home in a couple of days if that’s ok with you? That way you girls can catch up.” Micha replies.
“I’d like that.” Erin grins.
We all pile into the SUVs, the guys all insisting on squishing in one with me, and Knot curling up on the front seat before anyone can stop her. I wave goodbye to Erin and her team, my heart lighter now that I know for certain I’ll see them again.
