Chapter Three #2
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me?” Jax replies incredulously as the rest of us go to have a look in the trunk.
“This has either happened before so they decided to be prepared just in case, although if that was the case why did the driver stop and the other car come to get him? Or the school fucking set it up for some reason unknown to anyone fucking sane!” I comment.
“I’m looking forward to introducing myself to them.
” Levi growls is eyes flashing red, before he takes a breath and speaks again, “load whatever you can into the trunk, take a picture of the ones left and then lets burn them. After that we can go and discuss this with the training academy.” Levi orders and we all get to work.
Kai has far too much fun lighting it all on fire and I swear at one point I thought I saw the flames dance around his fingers for a split second.
I will be very surprised if his supernatural side doesn’t have some kind of an affinity with fire.
As soon as the first body was set alight we realised that vampires turn to ash instantly when the flame touches them, it made clean up go a lot easier and quicker than we expected.
It also soothed my disappointment that they don’t turn to dust when they’re heads are cut off.
“As disturbing as this is,” I start and Jax looks at me, the others out of ear shot still, “we got a lot more in the trunk than I thought and I’m willing to bet its because they are all in pieces mostly thanks to Levi.” I finish and Jax chuckles quietly.
“That definitely helped Little Star. Levi got a bit decapitation happy and didn’t just rip their heads off but other body parts too.
” He chuckles as he moves his arm as if to hug me but pauses, “as much as I want to hug you right now you are still covered in vampire blood.” He grimaces.
“Do you want to try and get some of it off?”
“Nah, I think it will make much more of statement if I arrive at the training academy drenched in blood!” I smirk and Jax grins.
“Genius idea, Titch.” Mav calls out from the other side of the SUV.
“Why thank you.” I reply grinning and making them chuckle.
Thanks to the rapid burn rate of the vamps we are ready to load back up in no time at all.
Once we are back in the SUV with Levi driving of course, I check my phone to see that we might actually still be able to make it for drinks the Erin and her guys after all since it’s only three in the afternoon.
I find it interesting that none of us even attempted to call someone for help, we just took care of it.
In all honesty though I’m not sure who we would’ve rung.
My father’s weren’t answering before and we definitely wouldn’t have wanted to call the training academy since we think they’re involved.
Easier just to take care of it ourselves and a moments too long hesitation would have end badly anyway.
I think about trying to call Erin now that everything is dealt with but quickly decide against it.
Hopefully we will be at the training academy soon anyway and I think she knew that they might try to do something like this and they obviously have something big enough to hold over her that she couldn’t tell us.
I’m pulled out of my thoughts when I get the feeling like I’m being watched.
I turn my head to the side and my eyes connect with Kai’s amused ones.
“What?” I ask.
“I just don’t understand how you managed to be completely covered from head to toe in blood.” he says grinning.
“Fuck off, when you cut heads off of vampires they fucking splatter!” I defend making them all laugh.
“I’m guessing we just follow this road, until we find something that might tell us where the fuck we are or even where the training academy is, that would be real fucking helpful.” Levi interrupts me and Kai before it can devolve into an argument.
“There’s not much else you can do.” Hunter replies, sending a smirk in our direction, which I obviously stick my tongue out to in retaliation.
“Thank you captain obvious!” I sass back to Hunt who eyes flash with heat he starts to move towards me but just like Jax pauses.
“Fucking vampire blood, just wait until you’re not covered from head to toe in blood Sweetheart,” he smirks, “sass me then and see what happens!” He dares, his voice low.
My legs automatically clench, his words sending a spear of desire through me. I think I’m going to more than like sassing him and pushing his buttons.
“Bring it, Hunt!” I smirk and surprisingly it’s not only Hunter that groans at my obvious challenge.
“I think you just set a challenge that the others are going to want in on too, Sweetheart.”
“Fuck yes!” Kai says simply, grinning and sharing a look with Jax.
Their look and following matching smirks have what happened in the bathroom of the Jett flashing through my mind. It’s obvious by their darkening gazes that their minds have gone to the same place, in a bid to distract myself I focus back on the world outside. Ignoring the guys knowing chuckles.
“How long do you think it will be before we see something other than trees?” I ask.
“Soon hopefully, I want out of these clothes and I’m fucking hungry.” Jax grumbles and I grin.
“You guys are always hungry!” I scoff.
“And you’re not?” Levi asks, raising his eyebrow as his mouth kicks up into smirk.
“Alright fair point,” I chuckle. “You guys want to hear something gross?” I ask.
“Not really but I have a feeling you’re going to tell us anyway,” Hunter comments, amused.
“You’d be right in your assumption.” I say primly, making them grin, “The blood is drying and going all crusty.” I add grimacing.
“Oh that really is gross, thanks for sharing, Little Star!” Jax grimaces.
The others pull similar faces showing their disgust.
“You’re more than welcome. I thought it was something you guys would love to know!” I smirk and can’t help the laugh that escapes me as they share another look filled with promise. “What do you think we’re walking in to?” I ask changing the subject again.
Outside there’s still no change in the scenery, it’s just trees, trees and more freaking trees.
Don’t get me wrong I love trees in fact I tend to feel more at home surrounded by trees than I do anywhere else but I’m starting to feel like we’re in some sort of never ending loop where we just keep driving with no end in sight.
I’m aware that sounds dramatic but including the time before the driver stopped we’ve been on this same road for at least three hours now and there’s no break in the trees or sign of other people.
It’s suspicious as fuck actually. Especially since according to the information we had the trip from the airport to the academy should take at maximum two hours.
“I have no idea, Darling.” Levi answers my question pulling me out of my thoughts.
“It’s even more clear now that something’s not right at the training academy. I think the vampire ambush proved that.” Jax frowns.
“I don’t even think my parents know what’s really going on and they’re supposed to run the agency. That is the sole reason for the training academy.” I say thoughtfully. “I would’ve liked to think that they would have warned us if they’d known about the vampires on the way up here.”
“I think that for now we should give them the benefit of the doubt.” Maverick starts and the rest of us look at him incredulously.
“Alright hear me out before you voice how wrong you think I am,” he chuckles, “this world is completely new to us, up until two weeks ago we didn’t even realise that supernaturals existed.
We have no idea how this world works and until we do I think we should keep an open mind.
We also need to remember that the vampires that attacked us were rogue vampires and not a good representation of vampires as a whole.
We should never judge the whole of a species, race, religion or gender etcetera, by the few who do wrong within it. ”
“Well said brother!” Levi grins.
“I think we all agree with that.” Kai grins and the rest of us agree.
“If it becomes clear that they’ve done it on purpose though . . .” I start.
“Oh there’ll be no holding back don’t worry, Titch.” Mav grins and I return it.
“Hey I think I can see something ahead. Hopefully it’s the school and we can get this over with.” Jax exclaims.
