Chapter Six
“Well that was an abrupt ending.” Kai chuckles, glancing around at the apartment laid out in front of us.
“As much as I want to explore our new place, I am absolutely desperate to get this vampire blood off me now and maybe burn my clothes.” I grimace and the guys look at me with sympathy.
“I’m going to find a bathroom.” I add as I practically sprint down the first hallway and let myself in to the first room I come to, I suddenly have a desperate need to wash this shit off.
I don’t even acknowledge anything about the room itself as I rush across it to a door that I’m sincerely hoping is a bathroom with indoor plumbing and not something more archaic and fitting with the castles exterior.
Fortunately luck is on my side and I sigh in relief as I burst through the door to find a modern and surprisingly spacious bathroom.
The only thing I take note of in the room, other than the modern plumbing, is the separate bath and shower.
Although the bath looks honestly like heaven and I will be making full use of that in the future, in my current state I’m going to need to scrub for a while before I feel clean again and only a shower will do for that purpose.
I reach into the large shower cubicle and switch on the water, pleased that the water pressure is so good and its not going to take me seven or more showers to get this shit off me. Only about three until I’m satisfied I’m fully clean again.
Note to self; I need to learn how to kill vampires and probably other shit without getting copious amounts of blood and ick on myself.
I peel off my clothes grimacing as they stick to my skin and refuse to come off.
I try for five minutes to get my top off but end up hurting myself as it pulls against the skin on my stomach and I decide there’s nothing for it than to step into the warm water of the shower and hope that it loosens the crustiness.
Gross.
My pants come off quickly and without too much ick factor which I’m incredibly grateful for.
After soaking my top for a while longer it finally comes free and I quickly rip it off, throwing it out of the shower stall to land with a wet plop next to my discarded jeans.
Now that it’s out of the way I take off my underwear throwing it with my other items and start to scrub the blood that’s dried pretty much everywhere.
Unfortunately this includes my hair, I tip my head back and harshly scrub it, wincing as it snags on clumps of knotted hair.
Eventually, after half a bottle of shampoo and a whole bottle of conditioner plus most of the soap, I finally feel clean again and glance down at my rubbed raw skin.
I step out of the shower cubicle and wrap myself in a large towel, only then remembering that in my haste to wash of all the vamp blood, I didn’t actually bring my bag in here.
Damn it.
The plumbing in this damn castle may be modern but its pretty damn clear from my nipples, that feel like they could cut freaking glass, that the heating in this place is not modern.
I rush through into the bedroom and breathe a sigh of relief that one of my amazing guys was thinking ahead and brought me my bag placing it on the bed.
I rush through getting dressed. Having no idea what this ritual is going to entail and therefore what would be appropriate to wear, I settle on dark blue skinny jeans, a black tank and black zip up hoody.
I finish the outfit off with my trusty pair of docs.
I have another pair now but there’s nothing wrong with these ones and these are like some sort of comfort blanket, they’ve been through so much with me.
That probably sounds ridiculous but I’m not going to apologise for it now.
Before I leave the room I throw my hair up into a messy bun.
It drives me absolutely mad when you see women in action films with their damn hair down.
I put mine up when I eat and big movie Director people expect me to believe the women in their films can fight like that without getting it in their mouth, eyes and getting so fed up with it they want to cut it all off?
I don’t fucking think so.
“Are you muttering about women in movies not having their hair up again, Sage?” Hunter chuckles.
“Noooo?” I say elongating the word and making it sound like a question. I honestly had no idea that I was talking out loud.
Whoops.
“Sure beautiful, whatever you say.” Kai adds smirking.
I smirk and stick my middle finger up at him in retaliation which has him chuckling and pulling me towards him as he wraps me in his arms.
“The Director said that we needed to have witnesses or something didn’t she?” Levi asks from where he’s sat on the couch lacing up his boots.
“Yeah I think so,” Jax replies, “why?”
“Well she said herself that its dangerous for her to show us any sort of favouritism. Which makes me think that it wouldn’t be a good idea to bring outsiders in as witnesses.
Especially since we aren’t entirely sure what’s going to happen with Sage’s ceremony.
I assume she wants to bring in one of the other Centre groups but none of them will be children of a Centre group like Sage is.
“Your dad said that you were the first child born from a Soulmate Bonded group in centuries right?” Levi asks turning to me.
“Yeah he did. He made it seem like a really big deal too and that’s why I had more gifts than regular Centre’s even at such a young age.
So not only are we as a group rare because we are a Soulmate Bonded group but we are made super rare because I’m the daughter of a Soulmate Bonded group.
” I finish frowning and then add, “So basically because of me we have an even larger target painted on our backs.”
“Cut that shit out. The situation is entirely out of your control and we are more than capable of dealing with any threat that comes our way, even more so once we’ve had our supernatural sides released and had some training.” Hunter says firmly.
“He’s right Sage, Little Star.” Jax adds gently.
“I know. Logically I know that but I just hate that we’re in danger.” I explain.
“We know Beautiful but we’ve got this.” Kai reassures me, kissing my temple.
“What about Erin and her team?” Hunter suddenly asks, taking us back to the previous conversation.
“They aren’t supernatural though, would they even be allowed?” Mav asks.
“No idea but it’s quite obvious that the Director wants to stay on Sage’s good side. At best because she knows who Sage’s fathers are but at worst because she wants to use her and us in some scheme she’s planning.” Jax replies.
“She does seem like the kind of woman to have schemes.” Kai grins.
“Well if we’ve already told them what’s going on and asked them to be witnesses any protests she has will be mote anyway.” I smirk.
“I love the way you think Darling.” Levi grins his eyes flashing red, “Call them now. You said you would call them when we got here anyway.”
I pull out my cell noticing that I have a lot of missed calls and messages from her and I hit the call button without reading any and wait until she picks up.
“Hey, what’s going on? What’s happening? Are you alright? Did you really turn up drenched in blood?” She asks frantically her voice raising in volume the more questions she asks.
“Whoa there Nelly.” I chuckle.
“Now is not the time for jokes Sagely-Wren!” She full names me.
Damn she must’ve been seriously worried if I’m getting the full name treatment.
“I‘m sorry Erin. I’m fine, we all are. Yes I did turn up covered in blood, who knew killing vampires is messy. I need to ask you guys a favour but we don’t have much time could you meet us at our dorm?”
“Of course we will help with whatever you need but we won’t be able to come to your dorm.” Erin starts to explain.
“Why not?”
“Well I’m assuming they put you in the east wing?”
“I have no idea.” I reply, chuckling.
“Yeah they did, why?” Hunt chimes in obviously having paid more attention than I was.
“Well the supernatural dorms are in the east wing. The human students aren’t allowed in there since they are unsupervised, so there aren’t any instructors around to make sure that someone who hasn’t quite got their supernatural side under control loses their shit and we end up with someone dead. ” She explains.
“Well shit, that’s slightly worrying considering for all intents and purposes we are fucking human right now!” I reply.
“True but they don’t know that. From what I hear Levi put on quite a show outside the school when you arrived. Add to that, that you told him off and he listened! No one is going to think that you’re just human.” Erin reassures me.
“Don’t forget Beautiful we also turned up with a ton of vampires in pieces in the trunk of the SUV. I think we’re good.” He says proudly and Erin inhales sharply.
“What the hell!?”
“I’ll explain later, I promise but for now I guess I’m going to have to ask you that favour over the phone.” I pause.
“Sure anything.”
“We need witnesses for the ceremony to unbind my gifts and set the guys supernatural sides free. The Director mentioned it briefly but none of us are comfortable with having random people we don’t know witness something like that.
Especially considering my unique circumstances.
It’s almost guaranteed that nothing will go according to plan. ” I explain.
“Plus none of us completely trust the Director.” Jax adds.
“We aren’t sure that you will be able to do it but since we’ve already told you about it, it’s too late for the Director to tell us no, really.
Obviously I completely understand if you guys don’t want to act as our witnesses.
We have no idea what exactly is going to happen and knowing my luck its going to go wrong. I know . . .” I ramble.
“Whoa Sage of course we’re in. Don’t worry about it we’ve definitely got your back!” Erin interrupts my rambling and her guys all make sounds of agreement in the background.
“Are you sure?”
“Absolutely.”
