Chapter Eleven #2

It’s times like this that I could almost be tricked into thinking that he is interested in me too.

He drops his gaze falling serious again as he focus’s on the arrow.

Kysen hands him a tool that looks similar to garden shears but not quite so big.

I seriously hope that they cut through the wooden arrow easily because if he has to saw or force it it’s going to hurt like hell.

My gaze lingers on him for a few seconds longer before switching back to Sage. I startle as she grins at me clearly catching the exchange between me and Kai. She doesn’t look disgusted or anything along those lines which is a relief. Not that anything is going to happen between me Kai.

Well fuck now I’m just talking myself round in circles like an idiot.

“Jax!” Levi’s call snaps me out of my spiral.

“Yes boss?”

“We need you over here. Kai’s going to cut the tip of the arrow off like the plan was before but everything that comes after that needs to be done quickly so as soon as he’s cut it off he’s going to push the rest of the arrow through the front .

As soon as it’s clear of the wound at the back Kai will apply gauze with pressure like the training we’ve all had and you need to do the same at the front as soon as the arrows clear. ” Levi explains.

“Got it boss.” I reply moving to stand behind Maverick so I’m ready to apply pressure.

Mav hands me a wedge of gauze and I eye it curiously I know we didn’t bring any with us.

“I grabbed some in the last town I figured one of us would need it at some point even if Levi didn’t and we managed to heal him.” Maverick explains answering my unspoken question.

“Fair enough Dude. Good thinking.”

“Ok, on the count of three.” Kai says again.

“Wait.” Kysen interrupts and we turn to look at him. “My brother says that you need to cut it as close to the exit point as possible.”

“Ok.” Kai replies moving the shears from right by the tip to close to the wound. “Maverick you’re going to have to pull at the same time. There’s not enough for me to push properly.”

Maverick nods seriously and gets ready to pull.

“You’ve got this Little Star.” I tell her, moving so I can apply the gauze as quick as possible.

I lean over and kiss her gently. Hating the pain that is obvious in her eyes but at the same time grateful that seeing it there means she hasn’t shut down completely.

“One, Two, Three!” Kai says.

We burst into action, Sage cries out in pain as Kai simultaneously snips the end of the arrow and pushes it as Maverick pulls.

My arm goes around Sage’s waist as she starts to slump and Kai does the same from behind her.

We hold onto to each other at the same time.

As soon as the arrow clears the wound on her back Kai applies the gauze with pressure Sage whimpers and her back bows with pain.

I do the same as the arrow finally comes out of the front and as soon as its clear I step as close as possible to her as she rests her head on my chest and Kai does the same supporting her from behind.

“Fuck!” Sage pants her face still buried in my chest.

I share a worried look with Kai and the others.

“Are you ok Darling?” Levi says worriedly as he gently moves the hair out of her face so he can see her better.

Neither me or Kai step back.

“It hurts.” She whimpers and my heart clenches.

“I know Sweetheart.” Hunter says as softly as his booming voice will allow. Everything about the guy is just huge.

“You’re supernatural healing should kick in soon and you’ll start feeling better.” Kysen says watching worriedly from a distance.

“Can’t we use the Bond?” Maverick asks.

“No, it’ll only work on life threatening injuries and it would drain you all again like it did when we healed Levi. I don’t have another shield that I can use to protect us whilst we recover.”

“You said supernatural healing though?” Kai asks.

“Yeah she should be as good as new in a couple of hours which means in a few minutes the pain should dull enough that its manageable.” Kysen replies.

Kai looks deep in thought for a few seconds before he grins wickedly.

The look has my blood heating and it’s completely the wrong time for my body to decide its turned on.

I watch intently as Kai dips his head and starts to kiss up the side Sage’s neck.

She shudders against me as she moves closer moving Kai close enough that my fingers rub against the taught skin of his abs as he presses up against Sage.

His eyes flick up to mine as he continues to kiss her and he gently runs his fingers across my stomach just above the waistband of my pants.

Sage’s gaze dips down as she moves her head off of my chest and watches what Kai’s doing. She bites her lip and leans back against Kai letting out a quiet moan. Kai chuckles against her neck.

“I don’t think now. . .” I start to weakly protest but Sage’s good arm reaches up and she grabs hold of the front if my shirt and pulls me down.

“Don’t stop!” She mutters.

“Yeah Jax, don’t stop.” Kai says, my eyes snap to his and his fill with challenge.

I give in and grin.

If Sage doesn’t want to stop and Kai doesn’t want to stop then like fuck am I stopping.

It will help to distract Sage from the pain in her shoulder as well.

I’m vaguely aware of the others moving away from us but that’s the last thing I’m aware of as my lips crash down onto Sage’s.

Kai’s fingers dip into the front of my pants and he pulls me even closer against Sage making all three of us groan.

I take a gamble and run my fingers along his taught abs feeling them ripple beneath my fingers.

Sage runs her good hand up under my shirt scratching against my chest and making me groan.

Our tongues fight for dominance as she pushes back against Kai and pulls us closer.

“Guys!” Hunt yells.

I smirk against Sage’s lips not stopping and neither does Kai as he carries on kissing Sage’s neck.

“Seriously guys you’re about to cause a massive magical flare up.” Kysen adds sounding highly amused.

I sigh and kiss her one last time before pulling back and resting my head against hers. Kai does the same but doesn’t move his hand from gripping the waistband of my pants.

I lean back and raise my eyebrow at Kai. Sage dips her eyes and then bites her lip hiding her smirk as she looks back over her shoulder at Kai. He simply smirks undeterred as he slowly moves his fingers making a whole body shiver run through me.

“Enough, guys. We’ve got to move on!” Levi orders and I finally listen so does Kai.

I try to contain my groan as Kai lets go and Sage slowly drags her nails down my chest as I step back.

“You two are a force to be reckoned with when your together, I’ve got no chance.” I mutter not really meaning to say it out loud.

They both share a mischievous look and I know for certain that I am utterly fucked. Hopefully in more ways than one when it comes to Sage and Kai. I shake myself back to reality.

“How’s your shoulder, Darling?” Levi asks.

“Erm actually it doesn’t hurt at all.” She says sounding confused and she pushes her way out from in between me and Kai.

Kai moves closer to me and I put my arm around his shoulder automatically. I quickly move it again and Kai’s mouth kicks up into a lopsided smirk.

“What are you doing Beautiful?” Kai asks suddenly frowning again. “You’re going to hurt yourself.”

“It doesn’t hurt at all.” She counters as she moves the gauze that has stuck to the front of her wound.

“Whoa.” I exclaim.

The arrow wound is gone. If it wasn’t for the dried blood surrounding the area where it used to be I’d never have believed that it was their in the first place.

“Well I’ve not heard of that happening before.” Kysen says breaking the shocked silence. “Can’t say I’m surprised though.” He chuckles.

“Me neither. My skills are just that good.” Kai smirks puffing out his chest and we all crack up laughing.

“Come on let’s get going that’s a pretty big delay again.” Levi says.

“I’m definitely ready to leave.” Sage smirks as she walks towards Dave and climbs up using her arm as if nothing had happened to it.

It must really be ok.

I’m beyond relieved, I hate to see her in pain. We all get back on the horses and set off at a slower pace.
