A new beginning
The sharp ring of my alarm clock pulled me out of my sleep. Unlike most mornings, today felt different-exciting, refreshing. A new journey was about to begin. College life.
I had worked hard to get into my dream college, and luck had been on my side-kaashi got in too. We both were in finance, the thought of having my bestfriend by my side made this transition easier.
A nostalgic smile crossed face as I stretched in bed. I missed my school friends and teachers, but today, excitement overpowered every other emotion.
Pushing the blanket off, I got up and headed straight to the bathroom.
The warm water cascading down my skin washed away any lingering sleep.
After wrapping a towel around me, I walked to my wardrobe and pulled out a pair of light blue baggy jeans and a simple white tshirt.
White sneakers to match. Minimal makeup-just enough to look fresh.
As I made my way downstairs, the familiar clinking of dishes greeted me. Shanta aunty, our housemaid, was setting up the breakfast table.
I gave her a small smile and helped myself to breakfast. "Where are mom and dad?" I asked, though I already knew the answer.
"They are still asleep," she replied softly.
A lump formed in my throat, but I swallowed it down quickly. Of course, they weren't here to see me off on my first day of college. But I had long stopped expecting things like that.
Shaking the thought away, I finished my breakfast, grabbed my car keys, and left.
Kaashi was already waiting outside her house when I arrived. Her face lit up the moment she saw me. She slid into the passenger seat, grinning ear to ear.
"I am so excited for our first day!" She exclaimed.
I chuckled, nodding. "Me too."
With that, I started the car, and we drove off toward our new chapter. The college parking lot was already bustling with students, some chatting in groups, others searching for their classes. Taking a deep breath, I parked the car and looked at kaashi.
This was it. The beginning of something new. Something unknown.
