An unexpected Interruption

Author's pov-

Divya sat in the library with Aditya, trying to focus on the finance assignment in front of them. But no matter how hard she tried, her mind kept drifting-to purv, to the look he had given her in the hallway, to the unspoken tension in his eyes.

"Are you even listening?" Aditya waved a hand in front of her face.

She blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. "Huh?"

Aditya smirked. "You've been staring at the page for five minutes. What's up?"

Divya sighed, rubbing her temples. "Just distracted, I guess."

Aditya leaned back in his chair. "Let me guess. Purv?"

Divya shot him a glare. "Not everything is about him."

Aditya chuckled. "Sure, sure. But it's kinda obvious."

She rolled her eyes. "Let's just focus, okay?"

They worked for another twenty minutes before a voice interrupted them.

"Well, this is cozy."

Divya turned to see charvi standing near their table, arms crossed, an amused smirk on her lips.

"What do you want, charvi?" Divya asked, keeping her voice calm.

Charvi ignored her and looked straight at Aditya. "Didn't expect you to be the type to need tutoring. Or is this just an excuse to spend more time with her."

Aditya scoffed. "And why do you care?"

Charvi shrugged. "I don't. Just making an observation."

Divya clenched her jaw, feeling an unnecessary wave of irritation. She had no patience for charvi's possesive-agressive games today.

"If you're done making observations, we have work to do," Divya said, her tone sharper than intended.

Charvi raised an eyebrow. "Relax. No need to get defensive."

Divya didn't respond, and after few seconds, charvi finally walked away. But the mood had already shifted.

Aditya sighed. "She's something, huh?"

Divya shook her head. "She's annoying."

Aditya smirked. "I think she sees you as a threat."

Divya scoffed. "That's ridiculous."

But deep down, she wondered if he was right.

---------------------------------------------------

Later that evening, as Divya was walking to the parking lot, she spotted purv near his car. He was leaning against the door, scrolling through his phone.

For a second, she considered walking the other way, but before she could, he looked up. Their eyes met.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then, purv tilted his head slightly. "Didn't expect to see you here his late."

Divya shrugged. "Got caught up in the library."

Purv's gaze flickered, as if he already knew who she had been with. "With Aditya?"

She crossed her arms. "Why do you care?"

He smirked. "I don't."

Divya rolled her eyes. "Then don't ask."

A brief silence stretched between them before purv exhaled. "Charvi was bothering you today, wasn't she?"

Divya blinked. "How do you-"

"She thinks picking on you will get my attention," purv said simply.

Divya scoffed. "That's pathetic."

Purv smirked. "I never said she wasn't."

There was something oddly comforting about the way he said it-as if he was acknowledging that charvi's words meant nothing.

Before she could say anything else, purv stepped closer, his voice dropping slightly. "You shouldn't let people like her get to you."

Divya tilted her head. "Who said she got to me?"

Purv chuckled. "You're still thinking about it, aren't you?"

Divya narrowed her eyes. "And if I am?"

Purv didn't answer right away. He just watched her, something unreadable in his expression.

Then, finally, he said, "Don't."

It was such a simple word, but something about the way he said it sent a strange warmth through her.

Before she could respond, he smirked and stepped back. "See you around, Divya."

And just like that, he was gone-again.

Divya let out a breath, shaking her head.

This man is going to drive her crazy.
