Unspoken intentions

Author's pov-

The day passed in a blur, but Divya couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. Everytime she glanced sideways, she found rehan's gaze lingering on her-not in an overtly obvious way, but in a manner that unsettled her.

After class, as she was gathering her books, rehan leaned over slightly. "So, do you always sit in the back, or were you just avoiding the professor's attention today?"

Divya blinked, caught off guard. "Um.. I just like this seat."

He smirked. "Noted."

Before she could respond, Aditya nudged her. "Come on, we're heading to the cafeteria."

"Mind if I join?" Rehan asked smoothly.

Aditya shrugged, and before divya could think of an excuse, Rehan was already walking beside them.

At the cafeteria, kaashi and a few others were already seated.

(kaashi was very late and decided to skip the first lecture)

The moment they sat down, rehan's attention remained fixed on Divya, though he never made it obvious.

Instead, he engaged in conversation with ease, making jokes, getting to know the group.

Divya wanted to ignore him, but something about him unsettled her. He was charming, confident- but there was something calculated about his presence.

She felt it again when he casually asked. "So, Divya, what's your story?"

Her brows furrowed. "My story?"

He leaned forward slightly, resting his chin on his palm. "Yeah. You seem... interesting."

Aditya snorted. "She's just a normal girl."

Rehan's lips curled into a small smile. "I don't believe that." His eyes flickered with something unreadable. "I think there's more to you than meets the eye."

Before she could respond, a familiar presence approached the table.

Purv.

His expression was unreadable, but his eyes locked onto Rehan with sharp calculation. He didn't say anything, didn't make a scene-he simply placed a hand on Divya's chair, a subtle but clear message.

Rehan, however, didn't seem fazed. If anything, his smirk deepened.

"Ah. You must be purv." His tone was polite, but there was an underlying challange beneath it.

Purv's jaw tightened. "And you are?"

"Rehan." He extended a hand, but purv didn't take it. Instead, he simply stared, the tension between them thickening.

Divya exhaled, suddenly feeling trapped between two forces she didn't understand.

And she had a feeling this was just the beginning.
