The game begins

Author's pov-

Divya couldn't shake the unease creeping up her spine. Purv's warning echoed in her head, but she didn't understand why he was so tense about Rehan.

Yes, the guy was smooth-too smooth-but he hadn't done anything wrong. Atleast, not yet.

She sighed, pushing her thoughts aside as she walked through the campus corridor, lost in her own world.

"Thinking about me already?"

The voice was familiar, teasing.

Divya turned and found Rehan leaning casually against the wall, arms crossed, that ever-present smirk tugging at his lips.

She frowned. "What?"

Rehan chuckled. "You looked like you were deep in thought. I just assumed I was the reason."

Divya rolled her eyes. "Wow. Confident, aren't you?"

He shrugged. "Only when I know I'm right."

She huffed, crossing her arms. "Listen, I don't know what your problem is with purv, but I'd rather not be caught in the middle."

Rehan's smirk didn't waver. If anything, his eyes glinted with something unreadable. "I don't have a problem with him. He seems to have one with me, though."

Divya exhaled, ready to walk away, but Rehan stepped infront of her. Not too close-just enough to make her pause.

"Hey," his voice softened, "I get it. He's protective. But you seem like someone who can make her own choices."

She narrowed her eyes. "I can."

"Good," Rehan murmured. "Then don't let someone else decide who you can and can't talk to."

Something about his tone sent a chill down her spine. Not fear- curiosity.

Before she could say anything, he took a step back, his smirk returning. "See you around, Divya."

She watched as he walked away, her heart pounding for reasons she didn't understand.

Something told her Rehan was playing a game.

And the scary part?

She wasn't sure if she wanted to play or not.
