Crossing the line
Author's pov-
Rehan was patient. Calculated. He knew when to push and when to step back just enough to keep Divya on edge.
But now, he was ready to escalate things.
It started with small, seemingly harmless gestures-brushing his fingers against hers when handing her something, standing a little too close when they talked, his arm ghosting over her back whenever they walked together. Divya acted oblivious, letting him think she was warming up to him.
Then, one afternoon, he tested the limits.
They were walking through the hallway when he suddenly reached out and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, his fingers lingering against her skin.
"You should leave your hair open more often," he murmured. "It suits you."
Divya forced herself to laugh, tilting her head as if shy. "You notice too much."
"I can't help it," he said, flashing that charming smile. "You're hard to ignore."
She pretended to be flustered, but inside, she was calculating his next move.
Later that day, things escalated.
They were at the library, where he had asked for her help with something. She sat beside him, flipping through a book, when she suddenly felt his hands on her knee under the table.
She froze.
It was a bold move-one that crossed the line between playful and dangerous.
Slowly, she turned her head, meeting his gaze. Rehan smirked, his fingers pressing slightly, testing her reaction.
Divya's heart pounded, but she refused to let it show. Instead, she let out a breathy laugh. "Rehan.." she whispered, shifting slightly but not pushing him away.
"Hmm?" He raised an eyebrow, his grip still firm.
She leaned in just a fraction, her lips close to his ear. "You're getting impatient."
Rehan chuckled, his hand sliding slightly higher. "Can you blame me?"
This time, Divya placed her hand over his, stopping him. She smiled sweetly, her eyes daring. "Patience, rehan. If you rush things, you might ruin them."
For the first time, she saw a flicker of surprise in his eyes.
And just like that, she had the upper hand again.
But she knew this was only the beginning.
Because now, Rehan would try harder.
