Author's pov-

The evening sun bathed the sky in hues of orange and pink as Divya sat on the balcony, her fingers wrapped around a warm cup of coffee. The gentle breeze brushed against her face, carrying the distant hum of the city below.

Kaashi sat beside her, legs tucked under herself, eyes fixated on the skyline. "This view never gets old, does it?" She mused, taking a sip of her coffee.

Divya hummed in agreement, lost in the rhythmic Chaos of life outside her balcony. The moment was peaceful-until kaashi broke it.

"Don't you want him back?"

Divya stilled, her fingers tightening slightly around the cup. She forced a casual chuckle. "Who?"

Kaashi rolled her eyes. "You know exactly who I'm talking about. Purv."

Divya exhaled slowly and gave a small, indifferent shrug. "Oh.. him." She took a deliberate sip of her coffee before adding. "Why would I want him back?"

Kaashi tilted her head, watching her intently. "Because you loved him."

Divya let out a short laugh, shaking her head. "Loved, kaashi. That's past tense. I don't anymore."

Kaashi scoffed, setting her cup down with a clink. "You still do. You just don't want to admit it."

Divya frowned, opening her mouth to deny it, but kaashi wasn't done.

"If you really didn't care, then why did it bother you when purv told Rudra that you meant nothing to him?

" Kaashi's voice was soft yet firm. "That night, you acted like it didn't matter, bur I saw the way your expression changed.

You don't have to lie to me, Divi. I've know you since childhood-I can read you better than you think. "

Divya inhaled sharply, her gaze flickering to the city lights. "It wasn't about him, kaashi. It was just..." She trailed off, struggling to find an excuse that sounded convincing enough.

Kaashi arched a brow. "Just what?"

Before Divya could form a response, kaashi's phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, sighing. "It's mom. She needs me for something. I have to leave."

Standing up, she grabbed her bag. "We'll talk at college tomorrow. And think about what I said, divi."

Divya didn't respond.

She simply sat there, staring at the horizon, gripping her coffee a little too tightly.

Because the truth was-kaashi wasn't wrong.

She just wasn't ready to accept it.
