A conversation in the garden

Kaashi walked through the dimly lit streets, the cool breeze brushing against her skin. She sighed, guilt creeping in as she muttered under her breath.

"Sorry, Divi... I had to lie to you. But maybe what I'm doing is better for you."

She clutched her phone tightly, her mind racing with thoughts. She had seen the pain in Divya's eyes, the weight she carried in silence. And kaashi, being kaashi, couldn't sit back and watch her bestfriend pretend to be fine.

As she reached the garden-a place they had all spent so much time in back in college-she took a deep breath and walked towards the open space, her eyes scanning the area. Finding a quiet spot under a large tree, she sat down on the soft grass, her fingers absentmindedly brushing against the blades.

A few minutes passed before she heard footsteps approaching.

She didn't need to look up to know who it was.

"You're late," she said causally.

Rudra chuckled, dropping down beside her. "You didn't even tell me why you wanted to meet, and yet, here I am."

Kaashi smirked. "That's because I knew you'd come anyway."

Rudra leaned back, staring at the night sky. "So? What's this about?"

Kaashi sighed. "Divya."

At her name, Rudra turned his head slightly, his expression unreadable.

"What about her?"

Kaashi exhaled. "She still loves him, Rudra. She won't admit it, but I know she does. And purv-he's too damn stubborn to realise that he still wants her too."

Rudra rubbed his jaw, thoughtful. "I don't think it's just stubbornness, kaashi. It's guilt, it's regret, it's his own past demons. And Divya... She has built herself up so much that now she refuses to let anyone, especially him, break her again."

Kaashi looked at him. "But they're hurting eachother in the process."

Rudra sighed. "I know. But what do you want me to do about it?"

Kaashi gave him a knowing look. "Talk to him. He listens to you."

Rudra let out a dry laugh. "You overestimate my influence over purv."

Kaashi shook her head. "I don't. You're the only one he actually confides in. You know that."

Rudra remained silent for a moment before saying, "And what if it's too late?"

Kaashi's voice softened. "It's not. Not if they still affect eachother this much."

Rudra looked at her, then back at the sky. "Fine. I'll talk to him. But kaashi... they need to want this themselves. No one can force them."

Kaashi nodded, a small smile on her lips. "I know. But maybe... they just need a little push."

Rudra chuckled. "A push or Chaos?"

Kaashi grinned. "Maybe a bit of both."

As they sat in silence, the night wind carrying unspoken words, they both knew that this conversation had set something into motion.

And neither purv nor Divya had any idea what was coming.
