44. Nora
CHAPTER 44
Nora
R aul's arm drapes heavy comfort over my waist as we lie in the dim light of our bedroom. My skin still tingles from his touch, a pleasant aftershock of our passion. I can feel his breath on my neck, steady and warm, grounding me as I finish recounting Lucas and Serafina's latest turmoil during his week-long business trip away.
"And that's all you've missed," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. The weight of it all presses down on me, mixing with the heady scent of sex and sweat that lingers in the air.
Raul doesn't respond immediately, and I can't help but wonder what he's thinking. "It sounds like he needs our help." Raul finally says, his fingers tracing gentle circles on my hip. "What do you need me to do, my love? How can I help?"
I turn slightly to face him, our noses almost touching. His green eyes are soft but alert, fully immersed in this moment with me. It's one of the things I love most about Raul—his unwavering support, even when the world feels like it's falling apart.
"Raul, I need the firm to represent Lucas," I say, my hand finding his, squeezing gently. "He needs solid legal backing, someone who knows the ins and outs of this kind of mess. Lucas can't fight this alone."
He nods without hesitation, pulling me closer. "Consider it done. I'll talk to the partners first thing tomorrow. We'll make sure Lucas has every resource he needs."
"Thank you, my love," I reply, feeling a wave of relief wash over me. "This means everything to me."
"And after I talk to the partners," Raul begins, his voice a low rumble, "You and I can find all the dirt on the Fabiettis. We will find a way to get them off Lucas and the Mancini's back - legally."
"Raul," I whisper, feeling both admiration and worry surge within me. It's a dangerous game he's suggesting, one that could backfire spectacularly. But if anyone can play it, it's him. "Are you sure about this? It's risky."
"Yes," he says with a soft smile. "We'll find a way, whatever it takes."
"I love you," I murmur, leaning in to capture his lips with mine. The kiss is slow, deep, filled with unspoken promises and shared strength. We may be risking everything by defending mafia members at our law firm, but I am determined to stand by Lucas's side. Family comes first, no matter what.
"I love you too," he whispers against my mouth, his hands roaming over my bare skin, igniting a familiar hunger.
Our kisses turn urgent, our breaths mingling as he rolls us over, positioning himself above me. The weight of his body is a comforting anchor in the storm of emotions. His lips trail down my neck, each touch sending shivers down my spine.
"Husband," I gasp, arching into him as his hands continue their exploration, stoking the fire between us.
"Wife," he murmurs, his voice husky with desire. "Let me show you how much I've missed you."
I surrender to the moment, letting go of all the worries and fears. Tonight, I am completely his.
Tonight, I will ride my cowboy.
