The Day Her Name Was Destroyed
The library smelled of old books and dust.
Usually, it calmed Meera.
Today, it suffocated her.
She sat near the window, notebook open, pen moving mechanically. Her eyes traced the same sentence again and again, but her mind refused to understand it.
Focus, she told herself.Just study. Exams matter. Everything else... doesn't.
A chair scraped.Someone coughed.
Then
Whispers. Not even quiet ones.
"Isn't that her?"
"She's acting like nothing happened."
"Shameless."
Meera's pen paused for half a second. Her jaw tightened. She ignore it.She bent lower over her book.
A phone camera clicked. Her fingers trembled. She lowered her head again, pretending to read.
Another whisper, louder this time.
"She's pretending to study. Wow."
A sharp laugh followed. Her throat tightened.
Then suddenly
"MEERA!"The shout echoed through the library.
Everyone turned.
Ruchika came running in, chest heaving, face pale like she had seen something terrifying.
"Ruchi?" Meera hissed sharply. "What are you doing? This is the library!"
Ruchika tried to speak. No sound came out.
She bent forward, hands on her knees, breathing fast, eyes glossy with panic.
"Say it properly .You're disturbing everyone. I need to study." Meera said, irritation masking her fear.
"Ruchi, people are staring. What's wrong with you?"Meera said.
Ruchika looked up at her.Her eyes were filled with terror.
"M...Meera..." she whispered, voice breaking.
"What?" Meera snapped, nerves rising.
"Say it clearly. I need to study." Meera said.
Ruchika shook her head."No... no... you can't stay here," she said hurriedly.
"What are you talking about ,Ruchika? you're scaring me." Meera frowned.
Ruchika suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Tight.
"Ruchi...!" Meera gasped. "That hurts!"
Ruchika didn't stop. She pulled her up.
"Wait. stop!" Meera protested, books sliding off the table.
"Have you lost your mind?!"Meera shouted.
Students stared openly now.Ruchika dragged her out of the library.
"Ruchika, let go!" Meera said angrily.
"Where are you taking me?"
Ruchika's voice trembled."You need to see it."
"See what?"Meera asked.
She dragged her out.Her heart began to pound.
What did I do?
What happened while I was gone?
They crossed the corridor and they stopped. In front of the notice board.
Meera followed Ruchika’s gaze. And everything stopped.
Photos.Too many.Pinned everywhere.
In this photos..many of .Meera was only wearing a bra and a underwear..
She felt like crying seeing this.. but then her eyes look at those pictures where she was laying in bed with a man...
Edited images.Fake scenes. Her breath hitched sharply.
“…What…” Meera’s voice came out as a broken whisper. “What… is this?”
Her knees felt weak.
Ruchika broke down.“I tried to stop it,I swear I did. I ran to find you.” she cried.
Meera took one step forward. Her hands started shaking.
“No,No, this isn’t me.” she whispered again.
Students gathered. Some stood too close. Some pretended not to stare but did anyway.
Whispers rippled.
“Isn’t that Meera?”
“Did you know about this?"
“I didn’t expect her to be like that…”
One voice, sharp, careless, cruel slipped through the noise.
“It looks real…”
Something cracked.Meera screamed.
A raw, broken sound escaped her throat as she ripped one photo down.
“This is fake! This is NOT me!”” she cried.
She tore another.
“And this..this is edited! Look at it properly!”
She tore another.
“And this NEVER happened!” Meera said while crying.
Pins scratched her fingers. A thin line of blood appeared ,but she didn’t notice.
“Stop!” she screamed at the crowd, spinning around, tears pouring freely now. “Stop looking at me like that!”
Her fingers trembled violently.
Someone whispered, “She’s overreacting…”
Another murmured, “Why would someone fake this though?”
Meera shaking her head violently.“No! No, no, no!” she cried. “You don’t get to decide who I am!”
Ruchika pushed forward, standing protectively beside her.
“What is wrong with all of you!You think this is entertainment?! You think ruining someone’s life is fun?!” Ruchika yelled, ripping down papers with furious strength.
A boy scoffed. “Relax, it’s just gossip.”
Ruchika whirled on him.“JUST gossip?!” she screamed. “This is her life you’re tearing apart!”
Meera’s strength drained all at once.
Her legs buckled. She collapsed to her knees.
Right there.In front of everyone.
Her shoulders shook violently.
“I didn’t do this,” she sobbed, clutching her uniform as if holding herself together. “I swear… I didn’t…”
Her voice cracked into nothing.“I didn’t… I didn’t even know…”
Her tears dropped onto the torn photos scattered on the floor.“Why won’t anyone believe me?” she whispered hoarsely. “Why does everyone think I’m lying?”
Ruchika dropped beside her instantly and wrapped her arms around Meera, pulling her close, shielding her.
“I believe you,” Ruchika whispered fiercely, her own tears falling. “I believe you. I know you. Don’t listen to them.”
Meera clutched her desperately.
“What did I do to deserve this?” she cried. “I never hurt anyone… I never..”
Her words dissolved into sobs.
Ruchika pressed her forehead to Meera’s hair.
“This isn’t your fault,” she said, voice shaking with rage. “Someone wanted to destroy you. That’s all this is. We know who did this”
Then..
Clap.Clap.Clap.
The sound cut through the chaos like a blade.
“Well,” a familiar voice drawled lazily,
“this is… cinematic.”
Meera’s breath stopped.Not slowed.
Not hitched.Stopped.
Her fingers curled against the cold floor as her body reacted before her mind could.
She knew that voice.Too well.
She looked up.
Omkar Thakur.
Leaning against the wall like this was entertainment.Virat stood beside him, arms crossed, amused.Viki laughed openly, nudging someone behind him.
Smiling.Watching.Enjoying.
She pushed herself up.Her knees shook, but her spine straightened.
Gasps rippled through the crowd as she walked toward him.
Not fast.Not hesitant.Straight.
Barefoot on broken dignity.
Eyes locked on Omkar.
“Meera...No ...” Ruchika whispered in panic.
Meera reached him and grabbed his collar.Hard.The fabric wrinkled in her fist.
“WHY?!WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?!” she screamed, her voice tearing apart.
Everyone froze.Omkar stiffened.
For the first time shock flashed across his face.
No one touched him.No one dared.
“Was yesterday not enough?!do you have any shame left” Meera cried, her grip trembling but firm.
“You slapped me , laughed at me insults me . You laughed when I begged you to stop. You looked at me like I was dirt....”Her voice broke.
“And now THIS?!” she screamed, gesturing wildly behind her.
“Did you enjoy it?!”Whispers exploded.
“Did you see the photos?”
“They’re fake, right?”
“That’s her name”
“You changed my face, my body, my life! You destroyed my name like it meant NOTHING!”
Omkar’s smile slowly faded.
The words hit her like a slap.
“How can you said me that?? Don’t you have a sister?” Meera demanded, her voice shaking violently.
“Or a mother? If someone did this to her if strangers whispered about her like this what would you feel?!””Her grip loosened.
Her strength drained.
“I’m not powerful .I don’t have friends like you. I don’t have influence. But I’m human too .” she whispered, her chest caving in.
Her knees buckled.
Before she could step back Omkar grabbed her hair hardly.
She stumbled, falling backward, her palms scraping the floor.
“STOP IT!” Ruchika screamed, running forward.
Virat stepped in front of her instantly.
“Don’t interfere.Unless you want it worse.” he said coldly, blocking her path.
Ruchika froze, crying helplessly, eyes glued to Meera.
Meera tried to free herself.
Her legs failed.She collapsed.
Laughter burst out.Loud.Someone whistled.
“Look at her now.”
“She thought she was brave.”
Meera shrank into herself. Her world felt small. Her body felt wrong. Her existence felt… unnecessary.
Then she remembers
Aarav…
Why aren’t you answering and did he forget her?
Her mind betrayed her.Aarav’s voice echoed
“You’re too weak.”
“You overreact."
“Why do you always make things worse?”
Those words had hurt. But she had swallowed them.Because she loved him.Because love made insults feel… survivable.
But this
This wasn’t love. This was cruelty from a stranger.
Omkar crouched slightly, lowering himself to her level. His voice dropped.Controlled.Dangerous.
“Don’t talk about my family again,” he said quietly.
“You don’t deserve to even say that word. You belong to a cheap hole and you dare to talk about my sister!" He shouted at her .
He leaned closer.
“You know what you are?A nobody who thought she could stand up to me.” he whispered.
"Stop it! Stop it ! I don't belong like that. Please" she beg while crying.
"Stop? I even can tell that may you are born with mistake. Your mother needs to be fun and born with that" he said that in front of everyone.
She could take take anymore. She become angry. Because she could take any insults but not her mother. Before she could stop herself.
She spat at his face .Right there.
In front of everyone.
Silence slammed down.
Omkar’s jaw tightened. His eyes darkened.
“You’re finished,” he said softly.
“So finished.”
He grabbed her arm and dragged her up.
“MEERA!” Ruchika screamed, trying to break free.
Virat shoved her back.
“Stay away.Or you’ll regret it.” he warned.
Meera cried out, struggling weakly.
“Please. Stop this. I can't take it anymore . I beg you..please let me go” she sobbed, her voice cracking.
“I’ll leave the college. I swear. I won’t come back. Please.”she begged in front of everyone.
Omkar didn’t slow.Didn’t look back.
They reached the abandoned backyard.
Broken chairs scattered like forgotten lives.Dust hung heavy in the air.
No voices.No witnesses.
Meera’s heart slammed wildly against her ribs. Because she knew that they bullied students in here. Or said torture.
Why is no one coming? Why is everyone watching but no one
stopping this?
She looked up at him, shaking violently.
“Please…” she whispered again.
Omkar’s eyes were burning with rage and satisfaction.
“Now,” he said coldly, tightening his grip,
“you’ll finally understand . How powerless you really are and how much i enjoy making you suffer here”
The air inside felt thick, almost suffocating, as if the walls themselves already knew what was about to happen.
Tiya stood near the cracked window, her fingers nervously clutching the edge of her sleeve. Anika leaned against the wall, shifting her weight from one foot to another.
And when the door burst open .All of them looked up.
Not surprised.Not confused.Just… ready.
Because this wasn’t sudden. This had been planned.
Meera barely had time to react before Omkar shoved her forward, and her body slammed into the chair. The hard wood hit her spine with a dull force .
A soft gasp escaped her lips as a pain shot .
She tried to steady herself . She tried to breathe.
But Omkar’s calm voice cut through the silence.
“Hold her.” he said to viki.
Viki immediately stepped forward and grabbed her right arm .
Meera flinched, trying to pull away instinctively, but his fingers tightened.
“Tiya,” Omkar said without even looking at her.
Tiya smiled.Her eyes met Meera’s.
Meera’s voice came out fragile and shaking.“Please… don’t…”
Her eyes pleaded. Her breathing is uneven.
Tiya slowly stepped forward and gripped Meera’s other arm.
“Do not worry the less you create drama the less you feel pain…” she said to meera.
Meera shook her head weakly.
“No… please let me go… I didn’t do anything…”
Her voice trembled with desperation, but no one responded.
Omkar wasn’t even looking at her.His attention shifted to Virat.
“Bring it.” he said
Virat frowned slightly.“Bring what?”
Omkar’s gaze remained steady.
“The straightener.” he answered.
Understanding slowly spread across Virat’s face, and a faint cruel smile appeared as he turned toward the dusty table.
The straightener lay there like a silent accomplice.
He picked it up.Plugged it in.
Click.
That tiny sound echoed through the room.
Meera’s breathing grew faster as realization dawned.
“No… no… please…Omkar… please don’t…”Her voice was barely more than a whisper.
Virat handed it over. The device was already warming.
Omkar tested the heat briefly, his expression unreadable.
And before Meera could prepare
He pressed it against her leg.
“AAAAAHHH...!”Her scream shattered the room.
Her body jerked violently as pain exploded through her.
“STOP! PLEASE STOP!”Her voice broke into sobs as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
“It hurts..please.. I’m begging you .!”She struggled weakly.
But Viki’s grip tightened while Tiya held her in place, her own hands trembling.
“I didn’t do anything.. please..!”Meera said.
Omkar press it any other place on her skin. Buried her skin
Omkar watched her quietly.No anger.
No urgency.
“This is only the beginning he said softly.
Her cries echoed painfully against the cracked walls until finally he pulled the straightener away and threw it aside.
It hit the floor with a sharp clatter.
Meera’s body shook uncontrollably as she gasped for breath, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
She thought it was over.
But suddenly
Omkar stepped forward, grabbed her face, and kissed her.
Everything stopped. Her mind went blank. Her body stiffened.
She didn’t respond.She couldn’t.
The silence in the room turned heavy.
Even Viki’s smirk faded.Anika’s eyes widened.
Tiya’s grip loosened instantly as shock spread across her face.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” she burst out, her voice shaking with anger and disbelief.
“You can’t kiss her!” she shouted on Omkar.
Omkar didn’t even glance at her.
“Tiya… stop he said to Tiya.
“No!” she shouted, shoving him.
“I said you CAN’T!” she again said.
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears as her voice broke.
“Why won’t you ever listen to me?!”
Omkar’s jaw tightened.
“I already told you,” he said coldly, “I don’t love you.”
Tiya stared at him, stunned.
“Why?” she whispered weakly.
“I’m not beautiful? I love you… isn’t that enough?” she said.
“I don’t see you that way.” he said with no emotion.
Her lips trembled before she laughed softly at a broken sound and ran out of the room.
The door slammed shut.
Omkar sighed in irritation before turning back to Meera.
She was still trembling.Still crying.
He grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him.
“Don’t worry,” he murmured. “I’m not done yet.”
Fear filled her eyes as she whispered shakily,“You can hurt me… but you can’t touch me.”
“If you want someone… Tiya is there… anyone is there… but not me. You don’t get to kiss me without my permission.” she said while crying
The slap came instantly. Her head snapped to the side.
“I don’t need permission . Special from you .” he said coldly.
“I am Omkar Thakur.I take what I want.And now…” he said.
“I want you , to destroy .”
He pushed her, and she fell hard onto the floor.
