Chapter 9 #4

Chloe and him continued to exchange glances throughout the night—catching each other staring more than once=. She even wrapped her arm around him a couple times, holding hands occasionally.

“It was nice meeting your friends. Well, except for that Colin guy,” Chloe said. “Something is off about him.”

“Yeah, he’s a piece of work, but Renn has kicked his ass plenty of times, so he was scared off,” Nate said loudly from the back seat.

Her brows raised in curiosity from where she sat in the passenger seat. “It’s very impressive that you all attend The Academy,” Chloe said. “I graduate at the end of the school year and still have no idea what I want to do.”

“I think it’s kind of nice to not know what the future holds—anything’s possible.

For Nate and I, we’ve had the same goal for the last five-almost-six years,” Renn replied.

He waited for Nate to add in his thoughts, as he usually didn’t miss an opportunity to talk, but when Renn checked his rearview he discovered why he hadn’t.

Nate and Kyile were practically on top of each other in the back seat, kissing frantically. Renn couldn’t help but laugh happily for his best friend. He was crazy about Kylie.

Dude, at least wait till we get back to the resort, Renn wanted to scold, but it was Nate’s vacation too.

He could do what he wanted, and if Renn had a girlfriend, he would most likely be doing the same thing.

Chloe’s lips were in a tight-lipped smile, clearly aware of what was going on in the back seat.

“Sorry,” he mouthed to her, shaking his head as if to say, “Can’t go anywhere with these two.”

Neither Chloe or Renn said anything else during the short drive, but she kept smiling over at him and he to her. When they arrived back at the resort, Nate and Kylie offered a hurried goodbye and were off.

“So,” Chloe said, putting her arms behind her back, looking innocent, but her eyes were saying something else entirely.

“So,” he copied her tone, a smirk on his lips.

“Do you want to go somewhere? The beach? The pool? Or should we stay in for the rest of the night?”

“Stay in,” he said, stepping closer and reaching out to take her hand in his. “If that’s what you want.” He was a good foot taller than her, and she was mesmerized by the grey and green of his irises.

“Yes. That’s what I want,” she said boldly and tightened her hand in his as they walked to the elevators.

“Which floor are you on?” she asked as they stepped inside. He cocked an eyebrow, a mischievous look on his face.

“Which floor are you on?” he asked.

“Ten.”

He pushed the button and only that button.

“Is your room on the same floor?”

“No,” he said, his voice dropping lower. She smiled wide and took a step closer to him, tracing his forearm. He placed a hand gently on her waist, using the other to place a strand of her white-blonde hair behind her ear.

“Is this okay?” he asked, and she knew he didn’t just mean putting his hands on her.

He was asking if she wanted more. She nodded fervently, so he didn’t waste another second and pressed his lips gently to hers.

Chloe shared the same sentiment and brazenly pushed her tongue into his mouth.

He responded with a low moan and pushed her against the elevator wall.

For a moment, they both forgot they were in public, kissing wildly, hands exploring each other.

The door slid open and they began to laugh. Chloe pulled on his shirt to follow her, and he did so without protest.

Before the door to her room was fully closed, she was attempting to remove his shirt, pulling at it desperately.

He helped, pulling it over his head and tossing it aside.

Chloe raised her arms and he did the same for her as she walked backwards to the bed.

When her legs hit the edge, she sat looking up at him, in just her bra and shorts, with a burning need.

Renn dropped to his knees, running a hand tenderly over the sting on her side. It looked better than it did this morning, but his brows pulled in worry.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” he said softly.

She smiled at his concern, thinking how lucky she was to be with a guy so kind and attentive as Renn. She may have known him less than a day, but she felt completely safe with him.

“Honestly, Renn.” She placed a hand on his chin, lifting his head up slightly. “I don’t care.” Her voice turned sultry. “I’ll be fine. I promise,” she added for good measure. The last thing she wanted was for him to change his mind.

He chuckled, and it made the butterflies already growing in stomach flutter wildly, heat pooling between her legs.

“Tell me if it’s not, okay?”

She nodded before he leaned forward, wrapping his arms around her back to unhook her bra, kissing her just below her ear.

“I’m quite glad I met you on the beach this morning, Renn.” She sighed as his mouth sucked on her skin.

“Me too,” he muttered, his lips against her neck.

“It’s been a perfect day, even with the getting stung by jellyfish part.” She smiled, tilting her head back, inviting him to take more.

He hummed in agreement. “I intend on making it a perfect night too,” he said, pushing her further onto the bed.

And to her great pleasure, he did.
