Chapter 17 The Choice

"Sure."

I smiled sweetly and nodded.

"As long as you answer a few questions honestly, I'll save you."

He nodded frantically, overjoyed.

"Ask anything. I swear I'll tell the truth."

"First question. You had a Vasectomy. So how did I still get pregnant?"

"This... it was an accident."

"Really?"

I gave a soft laugh.

The next second, I pressed down hard on his knee.

Right on the bloody, mangled wound. I applied just a little pressure.

"Ahhh... I'll tell you! I'll tell you..."

Ye Wangbai screamed miserably and answered again.

"After we got married, I was afraid you'd divorce me someday. So I secretly had the procedure reversed.

After all, I'm a man. The Ye family line can't end with me."

Exactly as I thought.

I had gone with him to several check-ups. Everything came back clear. How could I have gotten pregnant otherwise?

So that was it.

Men truly are cunning and vicious.

"Second question. Between you and Song Mei, only one can live today.

You choose. Her death, or yours?"

The moment I finished, Song Mei's face paled.

She cried and looked at Ye Wangbai, shaking her head desperately.

"Ye Wangbai, don't believe her! She won't let either of us go!

Let's kill her together, okay?"

"Okay!"

Ye Wangbai nodded.

The next instant, he lunged forward and clamped both hands around Song Mei's throat. He squeezed with all his strength.

"You idiot!

This is what you get for not listening to me!

For showing off in front of her!

Don't blame me. You brought this on yourself!"

Song Mei was already on her last breath. It didn't take long before she stopped moving entirely.

When it was over, I turned to Ye Wangbai.

"You know you killed her twice, right?

She wasn't dead at first. But you didn't even check before throwing her off the cliff."

Ye Wangbai's expression shifted slightly.

He asked me, "Was last night your setup then? But we clearly waited until you fell asleep before leaving."

True.

They even went back to the neighboring tent to sleep again afterward.

I shook my head and looked toward a towering tree nearby.

"Mom, you can come out now."
