Chapter 10 Vasily #4

“Have you seen the new silencers we got? You’re welcome to try them out. I have a shooting range set up inside.”

They hesitate for a second, but I can tell they’re curious and want to give it a go.

The men nod and start walking closer. I ignore all of them except the red-haired jackass who just insulted my wife.

Ilya and Andrei step forward and break up the group in a move that’s so seamless I’d swear they’d rehearsed it beforehand, and in seconds the redhead finds himself alone with me.

I don’t waste any time. My men draw their guns right as I punch the bastard hard in the solar plexus, knocking the air out of him.

He buckles to his knees, and while he’s desperately trying to take in a breath, I reach in and grab his tongue, pinching it tightly between my fingers.

My other hand comes up with the knife. Running the sharp blade over his tongue, I slice through it before he’s even realized what the fuck is happening.

He gives a thick, wet scream before I press my boot in his chest and knock his ass back into the street so he’s no longer in our territory.

Holding up his bloody tongue, I look at the remaining four Irishmen who are standing there with their fucking mouths hanging open. “Anyone else want to say something about my wife?”

They shake their heads, eyes darting from the guns pointed at them, to my bloody hand holding redhead’s severed tongue, and finally to their fallen man who’s now starting to choke on his own blood.

He looks at me and screams something, but there’s no way in hell that mangled mouth is going to be forming words anytime soon, so it’s all just gibberish.

I laugh and say, “Good luck getting pussy with that lisp.”

“God, that’s so sad,” Ilya says with a smirk on his face. “Your days of licking cunt are over.”

I throw the tongue at them, laughing when they let out a few very unmanly yelps and dodge the piece of meat.

“Better get him to a doctor.” I point the bloody knife at the redhead whose face is as scarlet as his hair thanks to pain and rage. “If you have a doctor reattach it, I’m just going to come back and cut it off again, except next time I’ll do it with a dull knife.”

He pales a bit at that before his men grab him and haul him back to their car. I watch them go, wondering how long it’ll take Colin to call me. He’s not going to be pleased. I laugh when my phone starts ringing and Colin’s name pops up. The car isn’t even down the street yet.

“That was quick,” I tell my men with a laugh before answering it and switching to English. “Hello, Colin.”

“You touched one of my men, Vasily.” Colin’s voice is calm, but I can hear the anger that’s simmering right below the surface.

I wipe the blood off my blade and say, “I did. He insulted my wife, and he was in my territory.”

“You couldn’t have just warned him or told him to shut the fuck up?”

“I believe I did tell him to shut the fuck up. I just did it by taking his tongue.”

“You also threatened to cut it off again if Seamus has it reattached,” Colin reminds me.

“I did,” I say, letting a small laugh escape.

“How do you plan on doing that if he never goes into your side of the city again?”

“I imagine I could lure him over here. I’m guessing Seamus has someone he cares about.” I leave the threat at that. There’s no need to say more.

“This is not how we do things here, Vasily.”

“It’s how I do things, Colin. Maybe you should remind your men of that.

I would never have touched him if he hadn’t called my wife a whore.

She was forced to be there and raped repeatedly.

Any other fucker who wants to say something bad about her is going to find themselves missing some part of their body.

I think maybe I’ll change things up and go for the dick next time.

That usually gets the point across with a quickness. ”

“There won’t be a next time,” Colin practically growls over the phone.

“I certainly hope not.” Switching topics, I ask, “You hear anything else about Ruby’s? You said you’d look into it.”

“I went there and talked to her. I even talked to some of the women. They all say they want to be there, that they’re there by choice.

I don’t know. Maybe she was the only one they kept there against her will.

From what I hear, Richard Carrington has debt with just about everyone.

Hell, he even owes me some money. He has a massive gambling problem, and I think he and Ruby made this arrangement on their own.

Ruby won’t admit to it, but that seems to be the most likely explanation. ”

I don’t bother saying that I think he’s full of shit. If Nina said the others are being held against their will, then I believe her. Colin is no longer of use to me where any of this is concerned. I get off the phone with him by giving a blunt goodbye and hanging up.

“Colin happy?” Andrei asks with a laugh.

“Thrilled. We need to watch our backs. Tell the men to be careful. The Irish are going to want revenge. No one goes into neutral territory alone, and absolutely no crossing into the Irish side.”

“I’ll make sure they all know,” Andrei says.

I nod and put my focus back on checking the shipment, anxious to get back to my wife.
