Epilogue Part 2
Cooper
D r. Bennett and I sit in silence as we listen to Katrinia puke her guts up in the bathroom. While he is courteous and respectful I have a growing smile on my face that he doesn’t seem to miss.
His brows dip between his eyes as he asks, “This is a strange reaction to your wife’s sickness. Mind explaining what’s got you so smiley over there?”
“I’m going to be a dad.” My joy is uncontainable as my fingers deviously dance in front of me.
“That’s amazing Cooper! When did you guys find out?” The doctor smiles as he leans forward to shake my hand.
“Well I found out for sure a few days ago. Trin doesn’t know yet.” I say as I relax back in the cushions, splaying my arms out wide across the back of the couch.
“What do you mean she doesn’t know yet? How did you find out before her?”
I go on to tell the happy doctor about my little procedure before Spain and all the struggle I had keeping it a secret and avoiding my wife in the days leading up to the wedding. Though it was all worth it when we left the morning after the reception for our private trip.
For weeks we spent our days in the sun and our nights under the stars. I made sure Trinia was full of my cum the entire trip. Every time the waves would wash it away I was there to fill her back up. I’ve never been so exhausted.
I’ll spend the rest of my life with the memories of the looks on her face as I took her in every single way possible all over the southern coast of Europe.
The look on the doctor’s face now though is complete shock and utter disbelief as he processes my admission.
Pulling out a pregnancy test from my pocket I show him the double pink lines and he shakes his head. Before even looking back up at me he scribbles something down on his clipboard.
“Since we’ve been home I’ve made sure to wake up before her and disconnect the chain from our toilet handle so she couldn’t flush. She thinks our toilet is broken and even called a plumber in to replace it but two days ago the test finally showed positive.” I admit, stuffing the test back in my pocket.
Just then both our heads whip to the bathroom door as we hear the toilet flush and the sink turn on.
“This is a very bold move Cooper. Are you sure about this?” He asks quickly.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my entire life.”
* * *
Leaving Dr. Bennett’s office Trin and I hit the button for the elevator before the doors open and we step inside. I pull her against me and she rests her head on my chest as I stroke her silky hair.
Trinia sighs audibly before she mutters, “Well that went terribly.”
“Don’t worry zhena, people are supposed to cry in therapy.”
“Yeah well I bet not everyone spends half the session locked in the bathroom throwing up. I think I got a parasite on our trip. Maybe I should call and make a doctor’s appointment.”
I grip her chin, lifting up her face so I can look her in the eyes when I say, “I’ll call first thing in the morning and we can go together.”
She kisses my cheek before the doors open and we leave the building, getting into our car.
The entire way back to the shop I’m on the edge of my seat. Completely crawling out of my skin as excitement and second thoughts battle against each other in my mind.
Suddenly the closer we get the more I’m wondering if this was all a massive mistake. What if Dr. Bennett is right and this is a bold move. Maybe I should tell her before we get there?
Blowing out a deep breath I decide to stick to my plan as I pull into my parking space along the side of the building. Walking around the car I open Trinia’s door and hold out a hand. She looks up at me as she takes it and I don’t think she’s ever looked more beautiful. My wife is absolutely glowing.
My heart races as we make our way to the front door. My palms are sweaty, making me fumble with my keys before I finally manage to unlock the door. Trin looks over at me before asking, “Are you feeling OK?”
“Never better.” I manage to choke out before opening the door. When I reach over and flip on the switch the room lights up and all of our friends and family shout “Surprise!”
Katrinia’s eyes go wide as she doubles over with her hands slamming to cover her mouth. Pink and blue balloons litter the room, forming a massive arch with shimmering streamers and a sign that reads ‘Congratulations’.
It took Luna and Willow hours to blow up all the balloons and set up the shop for this last minute surprise baby shower, but they did it. Luna has been texting me nonstop with updates as we partnered to make Trin’s unconventional pregnancy announcement special.
Trinia doesn’t say a word as she takes in the space. A long table that is filled with food and little teddy bear cupcakes lay along the window. While a mountain of presents piled high rest next to a massive antique chair, that looks more like a throne, in the corner.
Everyone in the room is nervously holding their breath for her reaction. Waiting for her to say something.
When she finally turns to me her bottom lip trembles before she points at herself, unable to speak.
I nod, tears welling in my own eyes before I whisper, “Yes.”
“Am I pregnant?”
“Yes, zhena.” I shuffle in my pocket and pull out the pregnancy test to show her. “We are having a baby!”
“Oh my god.” She goes to fall before I pick her up and she wraps herself around me. She sobs a few more oh my god’s into my shoulder before she throws an arm in the air, waving the pregnancy test as she screams, “We’re having a baby!”
The room erupts in claps and laughter before Willow, Luna and Theo rush over to finally congratulate us.
“I can’t believe this!” Trin shouts over the chaos as she stares at the test in her hand.
“I saw it in the cards.” Willow shoots her a knowing smile.
“He got his vasectomy reversed before the wedding. It was so hard to keep that secret.” Theo finally admits and I see the relief leave his body as his chest deflates.
“Theo! You’re my oldest friend, how could you keep that secret from me!?” Trinia scolds before she punches him in the shoulder.
He rubs his arm before he points at me, “He’s your husband! I told him to tell you.”
