The following week, as David was opening up his studio, his phone pinged with an incoming text. For a split second, as he pulled it out of his pocket, he hoped it was Paige.
When it was from Ashley, instead, he felt real disappointment.
ASHLEY: I want to change Jacob’s visitation schedule from every Wednesday to only alternate Wednesdays.
David re-read that and shook his head. It was obvious that Ashley was struggling with their arrangement. He’d thought she would, but a part of him had hoped that she wouldn’t, proving him wrong for Jacob’s sake. Instead, after barely two months, she was proving David right—and even though it was nothing to smile about, he smiled anyway. It might have been a small step but he was now one step closer to getting full custody.
And he would. He wouldn’t rest until he did.
DAVID: Okay. I’ll have the custody agreement amended.
