Chapter 3

CHAPTER THREE

Shane

Lena was kissing me. She was actually kissing me.

I wasn’t about to ruin my chance. I didn’t know if I would ever kiss her again. I was making the most of it if it was the last thing I did.

My arms encircled her waist, and I kissed her back with all of the intensity I felt. All of the feelings, emotions, and desires I’d held back, I poured every last one into that kiss. The kiss I’d waited so long for.

The kiss I only ever dreamed of.

Passion exploded between us as our tongues swirled and danced with the other. She tasted better than I could’ve ever imagined, and trust me, I fucking imagined a lot .

Hands roamed as our kiss deepened. Her curvy body drove me insane, and I ground my hips and bulge against her, wanting her to feel what she did to me.

We forgot where we were, unable to get enough of each other, as we furiously made out, kiss after kiss, lick after lick, nip after nip.

I heard a door open behind us, but I didn’t look up. I didn’t want to break our kiss or the magic spell.

“What the hell is going on in here?” Graham’s voice echoed around the small office, causing Lena and I to jump apart.

Graham slammed the door shut behind him and stormed over to me. He grabbed me by the collar and shoved me against the wall. “Wait, I can explain,” I said as I yanked myself out of his grasp. Graham didn’t wait a second before he had me by the neck again.

He threw me down on Lena’s desk and pinned me there.

Lena told Graham to stop, but he didn’t listen. There was a fire in his eyes, which I’d only seen once before, and it wasn’t directed at me. He pulled his arm back and made a fist.

Fuck!

I braced myself for the inevitable impact.

“Graham! No! I love him!” Lena cried out.

I lay frozen, Graham’s grip now looser. I peeked one eye open and saw he put his arm down. “What did you just say?”

“I love him, Graham! I always have.” Lena was at my side, tears running down her beautiful face.

Graham let go of me and stepped back. He looked back and forth between the two of us. “You love him?” he roared. “And what about you, dickhead?”

“I love her, too.”

Graham threw his hands in the air and paced back and forth. “What the fuck? Since when? Have you two been keeping a secret from me?” He stopped walking and zeroed in on me. Again. He was back in my face in less than a second. “You better not have fucked my sister!”

“Graham! Stop shouting!” Lena said. “This is my place of work. A place that’s meant to be quiet. Now, can we please talk like adults?”

“One of you better start doing some damn explaining.”

Lena sighed. “I’ve always been in love with Shane. I just never acted on it because of this.” She pointed directly at Graham. “I couldn’t take it anymore. I decided to take the risk, and I kissed him.”

“You kissed him? ” Graham asked like he couldn’t believe it.

“Yes. I did. This is the first time anything’s ever happened between us, and of course, you walk in.”

Graham grumbled, “Good thing I did. Because, Shane, if you love my sister like you say you do, then you better plan on marrying her.”

Lena gasped, but his words didn’t faze me.

Because what neither of them knew was I’d always planned on marrying Lena.

“Planned on it.” I straightened my shirt and wrapped an arm around Lena’s waist, pulling her flush against me. It was the best fucking feeling, the way her body fit perfectly against mine.

She looked up at me, and for one amazing, breathtaking second, I forgot Graham was there. Staring us down.

He cleared his throat. Loudly. “Brooke’s downstairs at story time. You’ll still bring her back later, right?” he asked Lena.

“Of course. Good luck at the doctor’s.”

“Thanks. Shane, we need to talk later.”

And then he was gone.

What did I do?

Kissed the woman I loved.

***

As much as I wanted to take her right then and there on her desk, I couldn’t. It was the library after all.

I’d waited so long for this moment, what was a few more hours? I’d feast on her body all night for dessert.

“Let me take you out to dinner tonight.” I stared into her deep ocean-blue eyes.

“Is this for real?” Lena asked as her pink fingernails trailed over my cheeks and danced on my nose. She buried her face in the crook of my neck and inhaled deeply. She then turned her head to the side, her cheek now resting on my upper chest. “Are we actually wrapped up in each other’s arms? Did you really tell my brother you love me?”

“Sure did.” I kissed the top of her head and squeezed her tighter. I never wanted this moment to end. “And I meant every word.”

Lena lifted her head and leaned back. When our eyes met, the love and connection were so strong it took my breath away. “You did?

“I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t.”

“So…you plan on marrying me?” Her long eyelashes fluttered, and my knees buckled as my heart kicked into high gear. It was a lifelong dream of mine to one day make her my wife. I wasn’t sure how we’d ever make it past Graham, yet here we were. No way was I letting anything else come between us.

“Since the moment I laid eyes on you, Lena, my heart has and will always be yours. There’s no other woman for me. I would’ve waited for as long as it took.” I held her face in both of my hands and kissed her gently on the lips.

We stayed wrapped up in each other, kissing and caressing, for a long time. It felt amazing to finally touch her, kiss her, love her.

“I’m sorry for being upset the other day. My feelings for you and how my brother felt; I hated the confliction I felt inside. I knew I’d never be able to choose between the two of you,” Lena confessed, her voice laced with melancholy.

“No apology necessary. I shouldn’t have put you on the spot like that. There’s a clear path now for us to be together without hesitation. I love you so much, Lena, I always have.” I kissed her again and again before dragging my mouth up to her ear. I nipped at her earlobe before I whispered, “I can’t wait to finally feel my hard cock slide inside you.”

She gasped, and a nervous giggle escaped her throat. It only turned me on more.

I kissed her one last time and reluctantly pulled myself off her. “I’ll pick you up tonight at seven. Wear something fancy.” I winked before I turned and left.

I walked out of the library a changed man that day.

A man who had all of his dreams come true.
