Chapter 10 #2

“I’m just kidding. I just like being around you. And as much as I want to invite you inside, I kind of have a rule that I don’t take a man to bed until we’ve dated for a while. Or defined our relationship.”

I run my hand through her ponytail, loving how fast her heart beats as I graze her neck. “I can control myself, Bryn. If you want to just watch a movie and keep things PG, you can trust me.”

“I’m sure I can,” she says and gently touches my cheek. “It’s me I don’t trust.”

Hold. The. Phone. “You don’t trust yourself? With me?”

“I’ve never wrestled with breaking my rule for anyone before, but the entire drive here, with your hand on my thigh, I couldn’t stop thinking about what your hands would feel like all over me. I don’t know that I’ll stick to my convictions if I let you inside right now.”

I’m sure I look like a moron as I stand there blinking at her, but no one’s ever said anything like this to me before. Hell, I’m not sure anyone’s ever desired me, really. But the way her eyes darken slightly as we stare at each other, her chest heaving, tells me she doesn’t lie. “You want me?”

“More than you know,” she whispers. “It’s kind of new for me.”

“I’d never want you to go against your principles. I mean, as a man, of course, I want you to. Especially now that you’ve put the image of my hands all over you into my mind, but I respect you.”

“I kind of wish you didn’t. But it’s probably better if we wait until the third or fourth date.”

Nodding, I press her back against the door. “I can handle that. But, just out of curiosity, how many dates can we have in one day?”

Brynlee surprises me by throwing her hands around my neck and kissing me.

I grab her waist and lift her up, dropping the bag to the ground, and her legs wrap around my waist effortlessly.

Pinning her against the door as tightly as possible without hurting her, I know she can feel my need.

Our teeth clash in the furious and frenzied kisses, but it’s honestly heaven.

Kissing her is the most intoxicating thing in this world. Like a drug, and I pull back to catch my breath, our foreheads resting against each other. “Go out with me tomorrow night.”

She nods and lets out a shaky breath. “Okay. What do you want to do?”

I can think of at least seven different positions I’d like to do with her, but I move to kiss her neck, loving how she shifts to give me more access. “There’s a restaurant in the next town I think you’ll like. An Italian place.”

“I think that could be fun,” she says, her fingers tangling in my hair. “I want to wait to invite you inside until we’ve gone out a few more times, right? I said that?”

Groaning, I lean back to look at her. “Yes, you did.”

“And what reason did I give for that again? Because right now, I can’t think of a single reason,” she says, shifting her core against my groin that strains against my fly. “I’m drawing a really, really big blank.”

I could explode right here. Right now. “As much as I want to come inside, literally and figuratively, I don’t want you to regret anythin’ between us.”

She brushes a few strands of hair away from her face, and she shakes her head. “I don’t think that’s possible.”

“I can’t take that chance. No matter how much I want you, and I really, really, really want you.”

A wicked smile appears as she wiggles her eyebrows. “I can feel that. My tells aren’t quite as obvious, but know I’m having just as difficult of a time as you are.”

Closing my eyes, I growl. “I wish I wasn’t a damn gentleman.”

“That’s one of the reasons I’m so attracted to you,” she says and kisses my neck. “No one has ever treated me like you do. You’re chivalrous. You may not realize it, but it’s extremely sexy.”

Hearing her use the word sexy while talking about me makes me even harder, and when she shifts against my cock, I damn near tell her to abandon all thoughts of why we shouldn’t go inside together.

“We have to stop, Brynlee. No matter how much I think it might kill me.”

Her legs release me, and I slowly set her back on her feet. “I’ll be lying dead right beside you. I suppose we should say goodnight, huh?”

Her cleavage captures my attention as her chest heaves. I love that I make her feel as needy as she does me. “Goodnight, Brynlee.”

“Tomorrow night?”

“How does seven sound?”

“Seven sounds good,” she says and opens her front door.

Bending down, I hold back the groan of pain at the pinch of my groin, and I grab the photos and the bear. My feet stay planted where they are to avoid any additional temptation, and I hand them to her. “Don’t forget these.”

“You’re not getting the shirt back yet. It smells like you.”

“It looks better on you anyway,” I say, my mind immediately going to the place where she wears nothing but my shirt now. “Keep it.”

The door shuts slowly, and I brace myself on the frame as I take a few deep breaths to calm myself. It’s been a long while since I’ve been this revved up, and I’m not positive I’ll make it home before I have to relieve myself. God, I’m a goner when it comes to this woman.
