Chapter 17 (Meeting The Cullens)

Pearl bowed her head towards the blonde haired vampire, as a small sign of respect and thanks. Rosalie not quite understanding the gesture, took it as a sign of aggression and tensed up. Before she could insult the wolf, Jasper spoke up.

"He feels gratitude towards us and seems to respect us as well." He said, clearing up any misconceptions.

Rosalie, taken aback by the clarification, chose to remain silent, unsure of how to respond. Emmet came up behind her and wrapped his arm around her waist. Showing his support and offering her comfort.

"It's no problem, dear. Is it to much to ask you to perhaps change back, so that we may have a proper conversation." Esme asked sweetly.

Pearl thought about the request for a few moments, before remembering an important detail. 'I don't have any clothes with me.'

Whilst Pearl was thinking, Bree stood up from her spot on the floor and took a step away from the silver wolf, who towered over her in size. She did however, decide to remain relatively close to it. As she had a feeling that she could trust the creature.

Pearl turned her head towards Bree, at the sound of her movements and decided to showcase her problem to the group.

Carefully taking a step towards the new born, Pearl gently grasped the girl's coat between her teeth, pulling at it slightly, allowing the coven and the human to see, before dropping it from her jaws and taking a step backwards.

Turning her head towards the brown haired woman who had spoken to her.

"He doesn't have any clothes" Edward inferred.

Pearl rolled her eyes in irritation at being referred to as a male once again for the umpteenth time.

Jasper, sensing the wolfs irritation grow, was confused at the change in emotion. Tensing ever so slightly to prepare for a possible attack.

"Okay dear. We could lend you some. Is that okay?" Esme replied softly. Trying to keep everyone calm.

Pearl nodded her giant head as a response.

"Alright then. Let's head back to the house to discuss everything. As well as get to know our new friend." Carlisle stated. Speaking to his family and directing the last part of his statement towards Bree, smiling warmly at her.

Bree, who was still slightly nervous, edged closer to the wolf, seeking comfort and reassurance.

Pearl sensing her distress turned her head towards the girl and placed it up against her chest, nudging her gently.

Bree wrapped her arms around the giant head, than began to stroke the wolfs silver fur carefully.

"I don't understand." Bella spoke up confused. "Why is he letting her do that?" She asked, directing her question towards Edward.

"He imprinted on her before the Volturi got here. I'm not really sure how that works, with her being a vampire and all. But, I'm pretty sure he will do anything for her now. And that he is going to be extremely protective over her as well." Edward replied to Bella.

"So this new born has a pet dog now? Sweet!" Emmet said excitedly.

Pearl glared at the big guy for his comment and growled slightly.

Rosalie, not wanting a fight. Slapped her husband on the arm, reprimanding him.

When Rosalie looked at the wolfs eyes, she noted that although they were mainly a deep blue, there was some gold specs present inside as well. 'Huh? That's unusual' she thought.

"Edward? Can you tell us what he's thinking?" Alice asked her older brother.

"No" Edward responded.

"What? Why not?" Alice whined.

"I can't hear his thoughts" Edward remarked.

The whole Coven stiffened at the response, turning to the mind reader with questionable looks.

"Are you sure? Couldn't you read his thoughts earlier?" Jasper asked.

"Yeah. When all the other mutts were here, you said he imprinted. Didn't you have to be in his head to figure that out." Rosalie said snidely.

"I know!" Edward said in frustration. "I could hear him before, but now I can't. It's like he's blocking me."

"Like I do?" Bella asked quietly.

"Kind of. I hear nothing when I focus on you. When I focus on him, all I can hear, is static. It's like there is a wall of white noise surrounding his mind. And I can't get through it." Edward remarked.

"Well then. Let's head back to the house to get him some clothes, so he can shift back and answer some questions.

Alright?" Carlisle stated firmly. Then he started running back towards the house.

His family, the wolf and the new born, following close behind.

Bella was on Edwards back hitching a ride.

Pearl made sure to keep herself between the golden eyed vampires and the red eyed girl she had become so fond of.

'What's wrong with me? Why do I like her so much?

I literally only just met her 20 minutes ago.

Why am I so attached? Is it something to do with what that bronze haired guy mentioned?

Imprinting? Isn't that what baby animals do to their parents when they are first born?

How could I have done that? I don't need a parent.

And besides, she looks younger than me! I don't understand any of this. ' Pearl ranted in her head.

Jasper, sensing the wolfs nervousness and building tension, forced a wave of calm to wash over them using his gift. "If we wanted to harm you, or the new born, we would have done so already" he said, in order to reassure the wolf.

Pearl glanced at him and nodded her head.

Bree ran beside the giant silver wolf, questioning why she felt like she had to stay close to it.

Not understanding the reasons behind her feelings.

When she touched the wolf earlier, it was like she got a static shock.

But it didn't hurt. Quite the opposite actually.

It felt warm. Comforting. 'Why do I feel like this? ' The new born thought.

After 12 minutes of running, the group of vampires and the wolf stopped in front of the Cullen residence. 'This house is beautiful' Pearl commented, internally.

"Wow, so pretty." Bree spoke quietly whilst looking at the house in awe.

"I'm glad you like it dear." Esme said towards the girl, in a kind tone.

Pearl stared at the new born. Being the first time she had heard the girl speak, she was completely mesmerised by her voice. 'She sounds like an angel' Pearl thought. Her attention on the girl was diverted when Alice came running up to her holding some pants and a hoodie in her hands.

"Hey! That's my clothes!" Emmet complained, taking notice of the clothes Alice had chosen to lend the shifter.

"Yep!" Alice happily confirmed.

Emmet whined, "Why mine?"

"Because, we don't know how big they are. So the biggest clothes we can offer would be best." Alice responded cheerily, with a teasing smile adorning her face aimed at Emmet.

Edward smirked at the interaction, having read his sisters thoughts. The rest of the family either smiled or giggled softly at the two.

"Fine. But why the hoodie? You know these dogs run around half naked all the time, right?" Emmet replied sarcastically.

Pearl glared at Emmet for the dog comment, before gently taking the clothes from Alice's hands with her mouth, then turning invisible to shift back and change.

"Because, Emmet. I'm pretty sure they're gonna need it." Alice smiled at him knowingly. Unfazed by the wolfs disappearance. Unlike the rest of the family, who were once again surprised by the shifter's vanishing act.

Emmet huffed and turned to Rosalie with a pleading look, she only shrugged at him in response, knowing not to argue with Alice. "Don't get me involved." She commented, smiling at him teasingly.

Pearl then revealed herself. Now in vampire form, covered by the massive clothes provided to her.

She was holding the pants up with her hands as they were much to big and were threatening to fall down.

Although the hoodie was going down to her knees and she would technically be safe, from any of them seeing something they shouldn't.

That did not mean that she wanted to go commando in front of a bunch of vampires and a human.

"I think I'm gonna need something smaller. If you don't mind?" Pearl asked the pixie vampire whilst smiling shyly.

Alice smiled at her, whilst Bree looked at her in complete awe. The rest of the family stared at the new shifter girl in shock.

"You're a girl!" A couple of them shouted out in surprise.

Pearl smirked at their realisation. "Yep!" She smiled, then quickly shifted her tone. "Now stop calling me a he!" She growled out in an irritated manner.
