Chapter 13
I imagined Devyn and I would stay up talking each night she was in town, but Phoenix took us to a day party on Saturday and Sunday, and we were too tipsy and tired to talk when we returned to the condo in the evening.
All that mattered was that my best friend enjoyed herself.
She’d expressed several times that our weekend together was exactly what she needed.
Monday arrived quickly, and before I knew it, I’d dropped Devyn off at the airport and was headed to work. According to the GPS, I would arrive at work about thirty minutes before our lunch hour began. Instead of going directly there, I decided to stop at Phyre’s house and take a quick nap.
As soon as I let myself into the house, I slipped out of my shoes at the door and stripped down to my panties and bra when I made it to the bedroom.
My hair was pulled into a ponytail on the top of my head, so I didn’t bother looking for one of my bonnets.
I checked the time on my phone and figured I could get at least an hour of sleep.
After setting my alarm, I slipped under the comforter and closed my eyes.
I fell asleep within minutes and thought I was dreaming when I felt something soft, warm, and wet softly brushing against my pussy. As I slipped back and forth between dreamland and reality, I adjusted my body and opened my legs to feel more of what I was feeling.
“Mmm,” I moaned.
My eyes fluttered open, and I saw the top of Phyre’s head. As confused as I was by his presence, when he paused his oral pleasure to remove my panties, I lifted my head and almost cried in protest.
“Lift up so I can eat my shit the right way,” he demanded.
I did as he asked, and before my panties hit the floor, his face was buried so deep between my thighs, I was sure he would suffocate.
“Oh my God, Phy!”
I didn’t have any doubt that he missed me this weekend, but if I had, he removed all of that with each swipe of his tongue. He ate my pussy like a man on a mission with something to prove. I was skyrocketed to the moon in a matter of minutes, and I cried out in ecstasy.
As soon as I showered his face with my goodness, he stood and undressed before adjusting my body and pulling my ass to the edge of the bed. He lifted my legs, putting my ankles on his shoulders, and pressed his dick into my slippery hole slowly.
“Mmm, shit.”
“Damn, I missed this pussy, baby.”
He began with slow strokes and soft kisses, but before long, he pounded into me fast, hard, and deep, showing my pussy no mercy, as if he was punishing her for her absence. My screams were stifled with his mouth covering mine as our tongues slow danced to the music in our heads.
My second climax came quickly, catching me by surprise and sending my body into an uncontrollable frenzy. Phyre pulled his mouth from mine and ran his tongue down the side of my face until he reached my neck. As my pussy drowned his dick, he sucked on my neck hard enough to leave passion marks.
“Fuck, Nae.”
His dick throbbed against my walls as he filled me with his seeds.
After the pulsing stopped, he removed himself from my womb and adjusted my body on the bed.
I must have dozed off while he was in the bathroom.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was in bed alone, wearing only my bra.
I reached for my phone on the nightstand, and my eyes widened when I saw that it was after four o’clock.
“How did I sleep this long?” I whispered, confused as hell.
I checked my alarms and saw that the one I set for today was off. It only took me a moment to connect the dots and realize it was Phyre’s doing. I went to our text thread to send him a message, only to find that I had a message from him.
Phy:
I figured you needed more rest, so I gave you the rest of the day off. The chef dropped off our meals this morning, so if you want to eat when you wake up, you don’t have to wait for me.
Me:
I won’t fuss at you because I obviously needed to rest. Thank you for being so sweet.
I went to my text thread with Devyn and saw that she’d arrived home safely. After replying to her, I noticed that my mother had sent a text, asking me to call her. Before returning her call, I took a quick and cool shower to wake myself up.
“Hey, sweetheart. How are you?” my mother answered when our FaceTime call connected.
“Exhausted.”
“I take it you and Devyn had fun.”
“Too much fun. Phyre gave me the day off, and I’ve been in bed since I got back from the airport.”
“How are things with Phyre?”
“You ask me that every time we talk, which is almost every day.”
“Don’t exaggerate, Ginae. I’m asking because I’m your mother and I worry about you.”
“I know, Ma, but I promise you have nothing to worry about.”
“You sound happy, and you look happy, so I want to believe you’re happy, but that man hurt you deeply.”
“He did, Ma, but that wasn’t his intention. He was young and trying to figure out how to handle a tough situation on his own. Didn’t his letter explain the situation well enough?”
“That’s not it. Phyre did a wonderful job of expressing what happened. I’m just a mother who worries about her child, and I never want you to hurt like you did back then.”
“Me either, but I’m following my heart. Did you need to tell me something?”
“Oh, yeah. We’re going to postpone the family trip to the spring when your brother is on spring break. That way, we have a little more time to plan.”
“Okay. That works for me.”
“Good. What else is going on?”
My mother and I talked for about ten more minutes before our call ended. I was starving but wanted to wait until Phyre was home to eat dinner with him. I ate a bowl of mixed fruit to hold me over.
On my way to the family room, the security monitor alerted me that someone was at the door. The chef had already come and gone, and I wasn’t expecting anyone else, so I ignored it and continued to the family room. Before I sat down, the alert sounded again.
“Who the hell is this?” I fussed as I headed toward the security monitor.
I looked at the screen and saw an older Black woman who didn’t look familiar. She stood with her nose in the air and her arms folded across her chest. Although she was dressed simply, I could tell her clothing was expensive.
“Hello. Can I help you?” I asked politely after pressing the button on the monitor.
“Yes. Open the door.”
“May I ask who you are and who you’re here to see?”
“The person who owns this house is my son, and I came to see him.”
“Oh, umm . . .”
I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t just leave her out there, but I wasn’t prepared to meet Phyre’s mother. The alert sounded again, and I blew out a deep breath.
“Yes, ma’am?”
“Are you going to let me in?”
“Phyre isn’t home yet. He—”
“Open the damn door!”
Begrudgingly, I went to the door and let the woman in. Her presence was baffling because I was sure she knew her son was still at the office.
“Hello, and come in. I’m sorry about that. I was just a bit confused by your visit.”
She stepped inside, not waiting for me to lock the door, and headed straight to the kitchen. She was already seated at the table when I entered.
“Who are you?” she asked without wasting any time.
“I’m Ginae. Would you like something to drink or eat?”
Ignoring my question, she said, “Ginae? That name sounds familiar. Who are you to my son?”
“His girlfriend.”
We locked eyes, and I could tell my response surprised her.
“He must like you a lot to leave you unsupervised in his home.”
“He loves me,” I responded with confidence.
“Is that so?”
“Yes. I’m sure you’re well aware of Phyre’s work hours.”
“I am, but a friend of mine lives in the neighborhood, and as I was leaving, I saw an unfamiliar vehicle in the driveway. I thought maybe Phyre had forgotten to mention he’d gotten a new truck and had taken the day off.”
I didn’t park in the garage because I’d only planned to be here for a short time. Damn it!
“No. That’s my truck, and I took the day off.”
“What do you do?”
“I’m a nurse practitioner.”
“Oh? Do you work with Phyre?”
“Yes and no.”
“Care to explain?” she questioned.
“I’m a traveling nurse. I live in Chicago and was assigned to work in Phyre’s office for six months.”
“When did your assignment start?”
“A little over a month ago.”
“And you’re already sleeping with the boss. I see you didn’t waste any time.”
I wanted to say something slick but decided to hold my tongue. Aside from her nasty attitude toward me, she’d done nothing to me, but I resented her and her husband for what they’d done to Phyre.
“This isn’t what you think, ma’am. I—”
“You don’t know what I think, so how can you say that?”
I paused before speaking, choosing my words wisely. “You’re right. I don’t know what you think.”
“Do you live here?”
“I live in Chicago,” I repeated, not pointing out to her that I’d already informed her of this.
She rolled her eyes. “Is this where you’re staying while you’re in town?”
“Not initially, but I am now. Ma’am, this is not how I wanted to meet you. I know—”
“If I were you, I wouldn’t expect too much from Phyre. He has commitment issues, and if he were serious about you, he would’ve mentioned you to me by now.”
“I’m pretty sure he has, but you may not remember.”
I watched her expression as she began to put two and two together.
“What did you say your name was again?”
“Ginae.”
“He may have mentioned you, but you’re not the kind of woman my son would settle down with.”
“You know what? You’re probably right. I’m only here for six months. Maybe he just wants to have some fun and go our separate ways.”
“I’m sure that’s all this is. Are you okay with that?”
I shrugged as I smirked, still looking her directly in her eyes.
“I’m a big girl. I’ve dealt with worse. For now, I’ll just enjoy living in this mini mansion, with a maid to do all the cleaning, and a chef to prepare all the meals.”
“You forgot to mention the most important one.”
