Chapter 64

CHAPTER 64

CALEB

W e eventually drag ourselves out of the bath and wrap ourselves in the large fluffy bathrobes the hotel provides.

I hand April the menu and ring down our order while she explores the rest of the suite.

“Dinner will be about thirty minutes,” I say, standing in the doorway of the second bedroom and holding out a glass of wine for her.

When she turns, I open my arms. She walks into them, snuggling against my chest.

“What do you think?” I ask, against her hair.

“It’s beautiful, thank you. I’ll send Kat a thank-you message for organising it all.”

“She’ll love that. She’s going to want to know how everything goes tomorrow. You know that. They all will.”

She pulls back as if surprised. I look down at the face of the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known, both inside and out, amazed she is as unaware of the impact she has on those around her.

When she realises, I’m serious she smiles. “And I’ll be happy to tell her. I like Kat. I like all your family. They’ve made me feel so welcome.”

“They like you too. You’ve tamed their playboy brother and son. That gives you serious kudos in their eyes.”

“Tamed? We shall see.” She takes a sip of her wine before resting her head back against my chest.

I lead us back into the main area and sit us down on the sofa. I pull her into my arms as we both sit comfortably in silence, drinking our wine and enjoying the peace and quiet. The suite is on the top floor, views of the countryside, clear for miles through the window.

“I didn’t realise how much I needed a green fix,” she says after a while.

“I know. It’s one of the reasons I keep my cars at Mother's. It gives me the perfect excuse to escape and return to nature.”

“I like that,” she says. “And I’m sure your mother does too.”

I chuckle. My mother always loves to see her children. However old we get, she still wants to know we’re okay.

“You are welcome to join me anytime,” I tell her, keeping my fingers crossed she says yes. I have given her the space she has asked for, but I now need to work on winning her back.

There is a knock on the door.

“Room service,” the voice says.

April looks down at us and gasps. Our robes, not hiding what we have clearly been up to.

I smirk before untangling myself from her arms and getting up. I make my way to the door before opening it.

“I can take it from here,” I tell the waiter, handing him a generous tip.

He nods his thanks before walking away.

I wheel our dinner into the room. “Problem solved,” I tell April, who is pursing her lips on the sofa, trying not to giggle.

“You…” she says.

“Are starving. Let’s eat, because after that. I’m having you for dessert all over this room.”

“I think I can be on board with that,” April says, the twinkle returning to her eyes as she stands and drops her robe. “How about naked dining?”
