Chapter 3 The Real Lin Yan
"Lin Yan, mercy! I'll never do it again. If I ever harass you again, let me get hit by a car, choke on water, suffocate on food!"
My mouth said that, but inside I was cursing the original owner and all his ancestors.
None of this would have happened without him.
Lin Yan narrowed his eyes and squeezed hard. "If you dare harass me again, I'll break it."
He left without waiting for a reply, cool as hell.
I collapsed on the bed, pants around my thighs, feeling hollow.
Not from pleasure—from terror.
"What kind of hell start is this?"
It took half an hour to recover.
Transmigration was bad enough, but into this nightmare?
In the original novel, Huo Chichen and Lin Yan got a happy ending. At this rate, I'd be lucky to survive.
Then I got a text from Lin Yan: 【Tomorrow, be on time for work. If you try anything, I won't mind visiting your place again.】
This was a novel world—no morals. I was scared he'd come back.
I replied instantly: 【Lin Yan, don't worry. I'll complete my tasks.】
The novel described Lin Yan as a workaholic. Yeah, she was definitely "mad"—mad at work, mad in person.
But why was the plot so different from what I remembered?
The next day, I arrived at the company early.
The elevator went straight to the top floor. My palms were sweating.
How was I supposed to face Lin Yan?
Would he mess with me again?
"Mr. Huo, here's today's schedule." A sweet female voice came from behind.
I turned.
A beautiful woman handed me files, head down, fingers trembling slightly.
I signed casually and asked, "When does Secretary Lin start work?"
She paused. "Mr. Huo, which Secretary Lin?"
I paused too. "How many Secretary Lins are there?"
"Just one. Lin Yan."
I nodded. "That's the one."
She looked confused. "Mr. Huo... don't you recognize me? I'm Lin Yan."
I stared in shock. "You're Lin Yan? Then who came to my place last night?"
Lin Yan forced a smile. "That was also me."
I laughed. "Impossible. You look nothing alike."
"Aren't you face-blind?" She looked up suddenly, panic flashing in her eyes.
The original owner did have face blindness, but the body difference was huge.
I almost laughed. "I'm face-blind, not blind. Last night's guy had shoulders wider than mine. You think I couldn't tell?"
Lin Yan's face went white.
She bit her lip, then straightened. "I hired someone to pretend to be me. Fire me if you want, or I'll resign. You just have to sign."
I raised a brow. Lin Yan had guts.
"Why do it?"
Her voice was soft. "You invited me to your place because you wanted me, right?
But you never asked if I wanted you. I can tell you clearly now—I don't like you.
I've rejected you countless times, and you acted like you never heard.
What was I supposed to do? I was desperate, so I hired someone to scare you. "
Lin Yan didn't like the original owner?
But the novel said she was obsessed with him.
I was confused.
Did I skim too fast and misunderstand?
