Chapter 17 The Ending I Chose

Lin Qi really meant every word. He studied hard. He worked to become someone even better than me.

And I was happy.

Once he asked me, "Do you ever think about going back?"

I shook my head. "No. There's nothing in that world worth missing."

I was abandoned the moment I was born.

My father didn't want to marry and abandoned my mother—and me along with her. My mother thought I was the reason he left, that I was cursed, and blamed me for everything.

Still, I have to thank her for not aborting me. She gave birth, then left me on the street.

Grandma secretly took me home. Because of that, my mother cut ties with her and walked away forever.

Grandma always told me, "They don't want my darling—that's their loss."

Grandma was the kindest person alive, yet she was hit by a car and died.

Even after I got the hit-and-run driver locked up, she never came back.

A world without Grandma—I hated it.

So I didn't want to go back.

When Lin Qi heard that, he was overjoyed. He hugged me and kissed me over and over.

Maybe Lin Qi was the gift Grandma left for me.

Grandma, in my next life I still want to be your grandson!

I love you, Grandma!

Lin Qi said, "I love you too."

I smiled. "I love you too."
