Aurora

My chest heaves painfully; I still can’t catch my breath.

I lie on the rumpled sheets and watch Desire.

My ravaged nipples burn, and my body aches from his recent grip.

At first, I didn’t want sex—I was just afraid he’d leave me alone in the empty house after everything I’d learned, but I only knew one way to keep him: to tempt his inner beast with prey.

The moment he touched me, I lost my mind.

My cunt flooded with a wet heat, and I turned into a desperate woman, craving every second of his possession.

I try to steady my breathing as he stands and tugs on his pants. I regret that he didn’t undress when he fucked me. His body is divine, perverse perfection. I could spend hours studying every muscle ridge, scar, and the new stitches that, thank God, haven’t torn.

“Could you not kill those four Asgardians?” I ask, propping myself up on my elbows.

“Rory, do you really think you can ask for that?” Desire turns around, his gaze sliding over my spread thighs. I tense involuntarily.

“You said I ruled the Kingdom alongside you,” I add before he can interrupt. “And right now, I’m thinking about our safety. Everyone at Stonehaven is a child of wealthy people. If you kill four rich kids, it could backfire on us.”

He looks into my eyes, weighing my words, and finally nods.

“You’re right. Killing them now would be unnecessary trouble.

We’ve already crippled them enough. We’ll send them back to their families along with lawsuits from my family’s lawyers for armed assault and trespassing.

We’ll make sure no one can accuse me of unjustified violence. ”

“That doesn’t sound like you.” I look at him with undisguised surprise.

“Because it’s civilized?” He smirks and sits on the edge of the bed.

His knuckles slowly trace a path between my breasts up to my chin, and his grin widens.

“Don’t worry, babe. As soon as those bastards can walk again, they’ll be ambushed in an alley and have their bones broken all over again.

And when those heal—another accident. And so on, over and over, until they die on their own. ”

My eyes widen as a chill runs down my spine. There he is—my Desire. His mercy is more terrifying than a quick death.

I reach for him, wrap my legs around him again, and press my whole body against his back, unwilling to let go of that heat.

“You really can’t stay?”

“I’ll be back by morning.” He turns in my embrace. “In the meantime, my guys will keep watch outside.”

Leaning in, he covers my lips with a kiss, and I bite his lower lip hard.

He growls, more from surprise than pain, and draws back, wiping the blood with his thumb.

I smirk at the bloody trace. With his eyes, my prince promises me a considerable punishment upon his return, and I laugh, burying my face in the pillow.

Fuck. This is why I wanted him so badly. To remind myself I have someone who won’t betray or leave me. No matter how treacherously my own family has treated me, he belongs to me. Completely.

Suddenly, a sharp wave of nausea twists my stomach. Fuck. Hot bitterness rises to my throat. Turning green, I jump out of bed—and for a split second, catching his gaze: a suspicious, triumphant smile—then race to the bathroom, nearly slamming into the doorframe.
