Chapter 96
“ A dam, I need to steal you for a moment,” Greg says after he enters the private dining room. The look on Dani’s face almost makes me laugh. It’s a “don’t be too long” kind of look. She really is a cute little brat.
“Five minutes max, Mrs. Harris,” Greg replies, not missing a beat. I nearly laugh at how quickly he picked up on her expression.
We step out of the room and walk down the hall.
“Where’s Declan?” Greg asks.
“I told him to sit this one out.”
“He’s been running point with Geoff all summer.”
“I know.”
“So why isn’t he here?”
I give him a look that says he should understand why.
“Because of fucking Dani!” He throws his arms up in frustration.
“Lower your voice,” I scold.
“She should be the one at home.”
“Geoff’s daughter could have derailed this whole dinner, and Dani handled it. She’s already been an asset.”
Greg runs a hand over his forehead, stressed. “The last thing we need right now is Declan feeling iced out.”
“I’m keeping him busy. It’ll be fine.”
