Chapter 8 Bruqlyn #2

For the next, I wasn’t sure how long, he fucked me stupid.

Instead of lunch, I needed a damn nap. That night we had dinner with his parents, and I needed the rest. He would not have me in front of his mother and father with bags under my eyes.

I already had a slight limp because of his foolishness in the kitchen.

“I’m going to take a nap. Wake me up an hour and a half before we need to be there so I can get ready. ”

“You do that,” Euri said. “I’m going to check out this bike that your ass is going to take back. I’ll make sure I wake your defiant ass up.”

He talked all that shit, but now he wanted to check out the bike. If he wanted some pussy, that was all he had to say.

Dinner With The Parents…

I wiped my mouth with the napkin. “That was so good, Ms. Marsha. You’re going to have to give me that recipe.”

Ms. Marsha and Mr. Orion cooked dinner, and it was amazing. I couldn’t recall a time that I ever had ribs so tender that they fell off the bone when I picked them up. There was no need for me to even start on the sweet potato casserole because words could never describe its goodness.

“Baby, you can come cook with me anytime. Maybe if you come, my lil’ baby over there will too.” She tilted her head toward Karla with a smirk.

Karla, Aaron, and Derrick were there too. I loved how close-knit they all were. It made me wish I had siblings. It would have made things much less lonely.

“Mama, why you got to do me like that? I cook with you sometimes,” Karla said with innocence seeping through her tone. “Remember, I baked that chicken with you that one time. Trust me, once you taste Bruqlyn’s cooking, you’re going to forget about wanting me in the kitchen with you.”

Mr. Orion sat next to Ms. Marsha. They were funny as hell. Euri told me about their up-and-down relationship. Just from my short interaction with them, I could tell that Ms. Marsha loved his ass. She just seemed to be hurt or maybe just prideful.

“Yeah, my woman can cook her ass off. When I come through, I just add my goodness.” Mr. Orion wrapped his arms around Ms. Marsha’s neck and pulled her into him. She pulled away when he kissed her cheek.

“Nigga, if you don’t get your ass away from me.” She shifted in her seat, then pointed her finger in his face. “I done told you that I’m not your woman. You better go talk to that girl who’s having your baby.”

I almost spat out my wine. I side-eyed Euri, who sat next to me, because that was something his ass didn’t tell me. Euri’s hand gripped my thigh. He simply chuckled.

“Euri, why the hell is your mouth so big?” Orion fussed. “I can’t tell your ass shit.”

Ms. Marsha shook her head. Karla and Derrick snickered while Aaron continued to eat his food. “That boy ain’t tell me nothing. That lil’ girl wanted me to know, so she went out of her way to make sure I did. You’re too old to be out here moving loose with that thing.”

Mr. Orion stared at her. “We’ll talk about that shit later, Marsha.” He shifted his body to lean on the table. “Bruqlyn, now that you and our son are in a serious relationship, are you going to transition out of your van, into his home? Oh, that’s a bad ass bike you gave my boy.”

I shot Euri a knowing look. “Thank you, Mr. Orion. The bike was the least I could do for him being so amazing. As far as the other question, I’m not sure right now.”

“She is, Pops. At this point, her and Casper are there every day. She has clothes, hygiene products, and her favorite snacks in my house,” Euri revealed.

“When she wants to sleep in her old residence, it’s in the driveway.

We’ll sleep in it for the night. Slowly but surely, we’re gonna move her shit out that damn storage. ”

My head bucked back. “I guess Euri has a crystal ball to see what’s going to happen in the future.” I picked up my wine glass to take a sip from it.

Euri leaned into me, put his lips to my ear, then whispered, “I don’t have a crystal ball, but I have your heart. Oh, and I have a crystal dick that lets me see exactly how this shit is going to go.”

My wine had a mind of its own when it expelled out of my mouth. I covered my mouth to stop it. “Oh my God! I’m so sorry.” I grabbed my napkin to wipe where the wine went.

Karla laughed. “Damn, you’re bold in here. You’re being mannish in front of Mama Marsha and Daddy.”

The table erupted in laughter. For the next few minutes, they clowned each other. For the next hour or so, we just sat and talked about different things. It was around nine when we finally left to head back to the house. When we pulled up, I noticed someone on the front porch.

“Baby, who is that?” I asked after I pointed out the person. The porch light was on, and the man sat in plain sight. It didn’t seem like he was trying to obscure his presence.

Euri’s jaw flexed. “Stay in the car, Bruqlyn.” He snapped his head toward me. “Stay in the fuckin’ car.”

I lifted my hands in surrender. “I’ll stay in the car until you come back. Be careful.”

Euri leaned over and gave me a kiss. When he got out of the car, he pulled his gun. Damn, that’s sexy. I watched him approach the man who stood with raised hands. I was too far away to hear what they were saying. After a minute or so, Euri turned around and motioned for me to come over.

Who the hell is that? When I got to the porch, my face scrunched. There was some familiarity.

“Hi, Bruqlyn. My name is Richard Sampson. I’m your father’s brother, your uncle,” the man introduced himself.

I took a step back and bumped into Euri. He wrapped his arm around my waist. My breath hitched. “No, that can’t be right. My father was an only child.”
