Chapter Five
Lissa: Echoes of Attraction
I woke up feeling refreshed. I sat up slowly, peering over at Vince, and saw that he was still asleep but with a grin on his face, and I couldn’t help but smile. He looked just as sated as I was.
He looked at me with a predatory gleam in his eye after I shifted from dragon to human form as if he were surveying his next feast. It had my body reacting in a way it never had when a man looked at me the way he did. I could smell his arousal, and it caused my body to react without thinking. Actually, my dragon reacted, putting off pheromones, telling me, and him, that I needed to mate with him right then and there.
Mate. That word sent shivers down my spine, making me think of what I was running away from. I didn’t want to be forced to marry someone I didn’t love or want. I didn’t want to be forced to mate with another dragon for the simple fact of being bred. But Vince felt … different. Vince had me thinking something I wasn’t sure was possible. Could werewolves and dragon shifters be mates? Were we compatible to even be mates?
Sex with Vince was incredible, but what caught me off guard was that my dragon wanted to claim him more than anything. Deep down, I wanted the same thing, and it frightened me. I had never felt like this about anyone, and I wasn’t sure what to do. He said he wasn’t looking for anything serious, and I told him I wasn’t either because I wasn’t. I didn’t know he would make me feel this way. Alive, exhilarated, beautiful. There was also something else that he made me feel.
The moment I sat down on his lap and straddled his legs, I felt a zing of electricity zap through me. And the moment I locked lips with him, I was addicted. It took everything in me not to get up and walk away, but I knew that I had to before he woke up and changed his mind, asking me to stay with him. For the first time, I may say yes.
I tiptoed several feet before turning around and taking one more glance. He was still gorgeous. Toned muscles that I wanted to keep touching. Sensual, full lips that I wanted to keep kissing. My eyes drifted south to his flaccid cock. It was still beautiful if a penis could appear as such.
When I pushed him inside me, he felt so good. He was much larger than what I was used to, but he wasn’t the largest I had ever been with. However, he was the perfect size, and I wanted more of it.
I had a few more seconds to take in the hot sculpted Adonis still sound asleep before I shifted back into my dragon form and flew back to my car.
My mind continued to drift back to Vince as I drove East. I wondered what kind of man he was. From the short time that we had spent together, he seemed genuinely sweet. My heart ached as I wanted to get to know him more. My dragon sighed as she did, too.
Shifters and weres had many similarities. We needed to shift and feel free in our animal familiar’s skin—that primal urge to run and hunt. Even though Vince was a werewolf, my dragon enjoyed spending time with another of our kind. And, it occurred to me that I had taken more humans to bed than I had the supernatural kind. I never paid too much attention to that until now. I wasn’t aware I was heavily influenced by who I slept with, and I think it had a lot to do with my past.
My stomach growled, snapping me out of my thoughts. I had used too much energy having a good time with Vince and flying that I forgot to grab one of my protein bars out of the back seat of my car before I drove off.
It was getting late, and it seemed as if I was coming into a larger city. I concentrated on finding a decent place to stop and get something to eat and maybe find a place to shower and possibly a place to sleep for the night.
