Chapter 30

Daniel

I wake up to a warm and soft body lying next to me.

I turn to look at Anu. She’s beautiful. We’ve made love several times in the last few hours, and I still want more.

She's most likely sore from the intense sensation of me repeatedly filling her with and still wanting more. In the last fifteen years, I haven’t eaten a woman out, yet I can’t stop wanting to taste her.

I’ve never felt this much pride in making a woman cum multiple times. The look on her face when she orgasms is the best I’ve ever seen and I’m claiming every single one of that look and moan.

She rolls right into my arms, and I love every minute of it.

Her phone rings making her stir. She smiles when she sees me, then reaches to answer the phone.

“Hello.” She’s still sleepy and since I don’t want anyone to interrupt us, my hand makes slow caressing moves on her body. I love her soft and silky skin.

“MAK, where are you?” someone screams on the phone.

Fucking Jordan.

“In bed,” she replies and knocks my hand off. I chuckle.

“Well, I’m sending a car for you since you forgot we had a session today.”

“I’m sorry.” She sits up straight, and stretches. “Give me forty-five minutes, and I won’t show up if you send Wes to pick me up.”

Jordan laughs. “I got you girl; I won’t send Wes.”

“See you soon.” She hangs up and turns to me. “I have to go to the studio; I forgot about a session with Jordan today.” She sighs as she gets up from the bed.

“I’m coming with you,” I respond in a low and forceful tone.

When she doesn’t respond, I pull her back onto the bed with me.

“I’m coming with you,” I state.

“I’m not sure that’s a good idea. The session with Jordan is work, and it could be hours before we are done.”

She pulls away again, avoiding my eyes and moving around, looking for her T-shirt, which is probably on the kitchen floor, where I’d feasted on her.

Just thinking about it makes me want to do it again.

I watch as she goes to my closet and grabs a shirt, putting it on.

I smile inwardly. I like my shirt on her. It fills me with pride.

“Is Andrea going to be there?” I ask.

“Most likely,” she answers while avoiding my eyes.

“And she stays throughout the sessions?”

“Yes, most times she does,” she answers with a frown, probably wondering why I’m asking questions.

“Then, I’m coming, and I’ll do whatever it is Andrea does during the session.”

“I don’t think you coming is a good idea. We are roommates, and I think my friends—”

No, she didn’t just pull ‘we are not an item card on me’. After my mouth was all over her body and she’d begged me for an orgasm.

“We made love several times. I’m coming with you and I’m proudly wearing the badge of your boyfriend, so introduce me as your boyfriend,” I say, interrupting her.

I can see it, she’s scared of us. We were intense. Our love making was intense, and we both felt it. It scares me too, but I would rather find out where we lead than shut us down before we even take a step.

“We are just going to jump to that?” she asks, a look of incredulity on her face.

“Yes, we are. Besides, if your friends don’t know about your boyfriend, do you think your dad would believe you have a boyfriend?” I state my position.

“Let’s not complicate our agreement.” Her voice is whispery.

“Okay, but I’m still coming with you.”

A heavy sigh escapes her when she realizes that I’m not backing down.

“I’ll drive us,” I say to her. She simply nods, leaves the room and heads to her room. Next, I hear the shower running.

I race to the bathroom to shower and change into casual pants and a long sleeve shirt. I emerge to the living room and she’s not out yet. I go to her bedroom and walk in just as she’s pulling her jeans on.

“No panty?” I question with a smirk.

“I don’t like wearing one.”

I watch her hook on her lacy bra. I move closer to her, cupping her face.

“Seriously, no underwear?” I question again.

“Nope, and we need to get going.”

She pulls out of my arms and grabs a t-shirt from the bed, pulls it over her head and pulls her braids into a ponytail. She starts on her make up.

“I’ll drive. Call Jordan and tell him not to send the car.”

“The car was probably downstairs when Jordan called me. The guy will ping me in a few minutes to say he’s here, but he was already downstairs waiting.”

I nod my understanding. Clearly this isn’t new.

“Okay, we’ll take his sent ride.”

She nods. I leave to get my shoes on.

She emerges a few minutes later, make-up done in black chucks. Her phone beeps with a text.

“Dave is downstairs,” she informs. I rise and follow her lead.

I want to take her hand, but I doubt she’s ready for that. I simply follow her lead and we get in the car.

“Hey, MAK,” the driver says to her. “Who’s he?” He nods towards me.

“Hi Dave—”

“I’m Daniel, her boyfriend,” I quickly interrupt. She turns a scorching stare at me, and I smile back. Like I said, we are both scared but only one of us is fighting.

“Cool,” Dave says and drives.

Our drive is quiet and almost awkward. The place is close by, and we get there soon. I follow her lead.

“See you later, MAK,” Dave yells out, and she simply waves to him.

We walk through the door before I can process my surroundings.

“My favorite girl is here; do I get a date today?” The guy behind the security door yells.

“Not today, Sean.” Her voice is low.

“Come on, MAK! I’m a great guy and you know I will treat you nice,” he says, grinning.

“Sean, if you don’t open this door in the next two seconds, I’m going to call Bebe and teach her son with Quincy how to play the piano for free, and I’ll have her call all the other baby mamas and let them know who you are shacking up with.”

Damn she’s good. She didn’t miss a beat in all the words she just said. The buzzer is immediate.

“Why you got to do me like that, MAK? I thought we are friends.” He looks defeated.

“Yes, we are when you stop talking smack,” she sneers.

“Fine, but you know I can’t let Mr. Tommy lee jones jr., go up. I don’t know him.” He points at me.

“I do, and he’s with me,” Anu says in a firm tone.

“Come on, MAK! You know it doesn't work like that.” He’s trying to hold his ground.

“Today, it does. Do you need an ID? I’m already late.” She doesn’t blink.

“Fine, just go up and I’m coming up to get all his information.”

“Fine,” she responds, and we get on the elevator.

“What was that about?” I ask.

“That was Sean being Sean.” Her response is icy, with a breathy sigh.

“Why didn’t you just tell him I’m your boyfriend?”

“And have him go on a frivolous endless rant on how that hurts him?”

I nod. The guy did seem like he would go on a rant on just about anything.

The elevator door soon opens to a large, tinted glass hallway.

Anu takes a card out of her purse and taps on the scanner.

The glass slides open to a room, and I hear the loud music.

Andrea is sitting, talking to Jordan They are giggling about something.

“About time you showed up,” he says soon as he sees Anu.

“Sorry, I’m late,” she says to him. He scowls a bit when he sees me.

“Hey,” Andrea says to me. “Nice to see you again.” She turns to Anu “We didn’t know you were coming with a friend.”

“I wanted to see her in action,” I say, wanting to correct the friend part, but I’ll let it lie for now.

“You won MAK in the auction, right?” Jordan says to me.

“Yes, I did.”

He gives me a suspicious nod and a raised brow to Anu. She averts her eyes.

“Let’s get to work,” he says to Anu.

Everyone moves to their spaces, and Andrea pulls me to come and sit with her.

“So, I’m guessing you two are dating,” she whispers.

“I’d like to think so, but she’s not quite ready to say that quite yet,” I answer in a low voice.

“Well, dating isn’t easy for people with sickle cell, especially her and Jordan”

She whispers.

“Because of their disease?”

Andrea nods. “They feel like they are a burden to people.”

I didn’t think of that.

"What do you mean?”

“Jordan has it too. He’s SS”

My eyes widen. “I had no idea.” That must be the bond between them.

Andrea continues, “Sickle Cell makes them feel like they are a burden to others, which makes them people shy. They often feel people will break up with them when they see that they are constantly sick. Took Jordan a while to realize that I’m not going to bail on him.” She says

“I already know about her disease.”

“It’s one thing to know, it’s another thing to live with the constant of it. It’s not easy for them or their partners, so I don’t blame her for not being quick to let you in.”

“Guess I have to stay close.”

“That all sounds good for now, but time will tell how close you are staying.”

I nod but I know I’m not going to leave. The thought of her in pain that I can’t lessen or save her from is scary too.

“Let’s watch them make magic.” Andrea looks forward, and finally smiles.

I nod again and turn to watch Jordan; Anu and few other guys make their magic.

Andrea picks up a magazine, and I just watch as Jordan starts to sing, and the producer presses the buttons.

Anu is quiet most of it but has headphones on, listening.

She signals to the producer from time to time and he does whatever the signal means.

She doesn’t speak but the producer seems to understand all her hand signals.

I watch in amazement as they work. Jordan sings repeatedly.

It sounds perfect to me but to them, something is missing.

After Jordan stops singing, Andrea moves closer to me.

“This is when she does her magic,” she whispers. Jordan comes out of the room and sits quietly next to Anu.

The room is quiet, you can hear a pin drop, even the air circulates like a gentle breeze almost like it’s set to cool our minds to tune into the music.

Anu and the producer listen on the headphones.

She signals to the producer, and he does whatever she’s asking, even telling him when to stop with her hand signals.

This goes on for a while; she nods and signals, it’s like she’s speaking a language only she and the producer understand.

It’s amazing to watch her work, they both take the headphones off and play the music out loud for everyone to hear.

The sound and beat all perfectly sync. When the song ends, everyone is clapping and cheery.

“That last umph is why we say she makes magic.” Andrea’s tone is melodic.

I nod and to my surprise, Anu comes to hug me. I’m so happy hugging her. I can feel her joy.

“That was amazing,” I whisper to her. She pulls back and smiles before going to hug Andrea.

Jordan comes over to shake my hand. I hope it means; I’m accepted.

Before I can say anything, another song starts to play and the room erupts in cheers and everyone turns to Anu.

“Time to do your thing, MAK,” the producer shouts.

“Show us what you got, MAK,” Andrea joins in.

With a joyous laugh, she starts to dance, singing along to the upbeat song, her movements light and carefree. I’m delighted by her unrestrained happiness. It doesn’t take long for everyone to join in.

“It’s a wrap,” the producer yells. They all clap.

“What happens next?” I ask Andrea.

“We go and eat to celebrate, and Ross does his last updates. They are done a month before the deadline, which is unbelievable. The album release party will be arranged and then, the release.”

I nod. This is all new to me, but I find it refreshing. Anu comes closer to me.

“We are all heading to our favorite restaurant, do you want to come?” I smile, though I’m jumping happily inwardly. She’s inviting me.

“Yes, if that’s okay with your friends.”

“Sure, they are the more, means merrier.” I laugh.
