Chapter 32

Anu-Ms K

Daniel doesn’t let me sleep alone and truth be told.

I don’t want to. The next few days we are marking every corner of our apartment.

I had to keep Jacob out and Nkem tells me to call her when I come up for air, I smile just remembering that.

Then Daniel tells me his friend is having a barbecue party and I’m coming with him.

At first, I wanted to say no, but this is what I agreed to do with him. I made my pastries and take them with me.

We arrive at the massive house, and his friend Declan welcomes us. I admire the décor, it’s simple yet tasteful.

“Anne” he calls out “Daniel and Makayla are here.” We follow him into the house. Two little boys are running around; a little girl is chasing after them.

“Hi” I say when I see her. She is so beautiful.

“Welcome, I’m Anne”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Anuoluwa”

“Thank you for coming,” she stares at the clear bowl “is that meat pie?” she exclaims

“Yes, I made them, I wasn’t sure what to bring”

“You just made my day” she hugs me and takes the pastry bowl. “Dele is going to love this too” She leads the way to the back. Where I meet everyone. Dele and her parents who are visiting. Luke, her husband and her brother-in-law Osei, who is half Ghanaian.

I curtsy to greet Dele’s parents; they greet me back with a smile. I soon meet Anne’s brother who is her twin (Kehinde) and of course Dele’s twins who for some reason are all over me.

Declan’s siblings and his mom also show up, making it a full house. I manage to free myself from the boys and get a minute to talk with Daniel.

“You didn’t tell me your friends are married to Nigerians.”

“I wanted you to meet them and make your own unbiased judgment”

“Cool, I like them, we might have a date planned.”

“Good” He says. I turn to see another guy walk in “That’s Bruce. Adam can’t make it” he says. I get to meet Bruce as well. When I return to get one of the patties.

“Sorry, it’s all gone,” Dele says, “I think my husband had like four.”

I chuckle.

“I would have made more, if I’d known people would like them.”

“We do enjoy them, just don’t make mention of it to Bruce,” Luke, who is standing next to her, says before kissing her and walking away.

“I enjoyed your moin-moin, it was really good,” I say to Dele

“Thank you, maybe we’ll have a food exchange”

“That would be great, what does Anne cook?”

“I don’t cook, thank goodness my husband doesn’t mind,” Anne answers next to me.

“I don’t cook either, I bake.”

“Don’t worry, she will clean everything before you drop it in the sink” Dele jokes.

“I think we would be perfect together, I dislike cleaning” I say.

She hugs me, “We would be amazing together” she shouts.

I laugh out loud.

I’m tired by the time we leave promising to catch up with Anne and Dele soon.

“Thank you for bringing me, I had a good time.” I can’t stop smiling. It’s rare for me to feel so comfortable so quickly.

“Glad you did, I just had to bribe Dele’s boys, so they leave you alone.”

“What did you give them?” I ask through laughter, I can’t believe he did that.

“Ice cream, I’m sure Luke is going to call and curse me out when he finds out.”

“Best of luck with that,” I say as i cuddle up to him.

When we get in the unit. I change into his shirt and wrap up in his arms

“I’m traveling on Monday,” he says.

“You know for a guy that moved in because of my need for a male roommate, you are doing a terrible job of being around.”

“I’m sorry, Princess.”

“Not to worry, I just might find a new male roommate that doesn’t travel,”

“Not going to ever happen,” he says kissing me. I forget what we’re arguing about and let him deliver my orgasm.
