Chapter 46

Daniel

My phone rings and it’s Zack, he’s with Anu, he never calls unless there’s a change in their plans, but I know Anu’s program isn’t over yet.

I answer the call right away fearing something is wrong

“What’s wrong” I immediately ask

“Nothing boss but I may have messed up”

“What did you do, is Anu okay”

“Yes, she’s fine, still inside with the kids.

” He sighs “Your sister saw me parked here, she asked why I was here. I told her I was waiting for Ms K to finish, and she asked why I was driving Ms K, it didn’t make sense to her, and I told her you live with Ms K, she’s your girlfriend.

She nodded but I’m sorry boss if I messed up”

“It’s fine, she was going to find out anyways,” I say.

Anu might not like this, and she won’t like it either if I shout at Zack.

“I’ll handle my sister.” I say before hanging up with him and letting out a frustrated sigh.

I return my attention to work, but my phone soon rings again and it’s Maggie, of course.

I let her know that I’m busy but will stop by later in the evening.

I’ve decided to address my relationship with Anu in person and not on the phone.

I sit back and watch Maggie as she huffs and puffs, pacing in anger. She mumbled ‘it can’t be true’, or it was impossible, but soon realized it was very true.

“How could you do this?” she questions in disbelief, like I’d done the most unimaginable detrimental thing.

“This has nothing to do with you, and last I checked, we are two grown adults.”

“You just couldn’t keep it in your pants, could you?” she sputters.

“Not when it comes to her. It’s somewhat impossible,” I tease, although it’s the blatant truth.

“This is not funny. You will break up with her; it’s your pattern and trademark. Then my daughter will lose her best music teacher.”

Guess that’s where her concern lies.

“Ms K is not going anywhere,” I remind.

“That much I know, because I didn’t realize it before when you were bidding like a crazy man. I thought it was all for the lessons for Cara, but now I know it was for a date with her.”

“A win- win, I’ll say.” I smile to let the matter of fact settle in.

“Fuck you, Daniel! This is a serious matter,” she shouts, stomping her feet like a child.

“Actually, I’m very serious—about her.” I calmly state.

“I will speak to her and tell her how much of a man whore you are.”

My scowl is immediate.

“Don’t cross that line, Maggie. I don’t fuck around when it comes to Anu.” My voice is stern, which shocks my sister.

“You can’t be serious,” she questions with a raised brow.

I relax a bit.

“I’m fucking serious when it comes to Anu. I adore her,” I state.

It’s the truth. I fucking adore her.

Maggie laughs hysterically, like I’d cracked a hall of fame joke. I know my past reputation warrants that, but I’m not joking when it comes to Anu.

“I adore her,” she mimics and laughs harder.

“I hope you welcome her with a smile when she becomes your sister-in-law.”

“I’ll believe that when it happens,” she mocks.

I get up, realizing there’s no point trying to convince my sister anymore. She’ll see it in person soon enough.

“I’ll see you later. Tell Cara I stopped by and will call her later.”

“Bye,” she says through laughter. Can’t decide which side of her I dislike more, laughter or anger.
