Epilogue

B oon

“Shae?” I called across the house.

She was supposed to be getting ready for our first date since Bray was born.

Lydia had just put Bray in his car seat to go for a nice drive around town.

Shae had agreed to a two-hour date, but I had a feeling if Bray made a peep, Shae might hear it from across town and demand to come home.

I couldn’t blame her, I was a little nervous to leave him with someone else too.

Though Lydia wasn’t just someone else. She was Bray’s godmother and the fiercest woman I’d want protecting my son—besides Shae, of course.

“Just a second! Meet me in the backyard?” came her voice from deep in the walk-in closet.

“Backyard?” I hollered back.

“Just do it, bat boy!”

I shook my head at the nickname she just wouldn’t give up.

At least she wasn’t calling me big dog anymore.

I did as she asked, stepping outside the house and seeing the string lights I’d strung through the ring of trees lit up.

The evenings were still warm but at least the hot sun wasn’t beating down on my skin.

I’d been working on getting a better tan this summer.

For two decades I’d sported a farmer’s tan, thanks to baseball uniforms.

The door clicked open behind me. I spun around to see Shae framed in the doorway in a gorgeous white sundress that highlighted her tan.

Her boobs were fucking huge, thanks to breastfeeding, but her waist had already come in quite a bit.

She complained about her post-baby figure, but to me, she’d never been more beautiful.

“Hey,” I said softly, holding out my hand. “You look stunning. New dress?”

She grinned, stepping forward and taking my hand. “You could say that. Turn around.”

I did, keeping her with me. Principal Joseph was standing in our backyard. He lifted a hand in greeting, dressed in a full suit.

“What the hell?” I muttered under my breath. First time I had Shae alone in two months and now our boss decided to show up?

“Surprise!” Shae said, face lit up with the kind of smile that told me she was up to something.

I leaned in closer, making sure my voice didn’t carry down the deck steps. “Baby, I’m into any kinky sex you want, but a three-way with Principal Joseph is where I draw the line.”

Shae snorted—loudly—then clapped a hand to her mouth. “No!” She kept talking, but I couldn’t understand her. I had to peel her hand away to catch the ending. “He’s here to marry us, silly.”

My eyes went wide. Could have sworn my heart stopped too. “Marry us?”

Shae’s smile was brilliant. “Yeah. You asked me multiple times to marry you, and to thank you for your patience, I thought I’d spring a private wedding ceremony on you.

Principal Joseph happened to mention he got his wedding officiant license recently and a plan just came together.

I don’t want to wait any longer to be your wife, Boon Wolfe. ”

I didn’t need one more word out of her mouth.

I’d been waiting for this moment since the day I offered to marry her in the high school weight room.

I let go of her hand, leaned down, and picked her up.

She was laughing and yelling at me to put her down, but I didn’t.

I just ran down the steps until we almost took out Principal Joseph.

He gave me a look that said he wanted to make a comment about my immature behavior but was holding back.

I set Shae on her feet right there in the grass and kept her hand tightly in mine as we faced him.

“Marry us, boss.”

He cleared his throat and read from a notecard in his hand. There was no long, drawn-out speech or flowery vows. It was simple, to the point, and did what we needed it to do: marry us. Shae produced a wedding ring for me, surprising me yet again.

“By the power vested in me by the state of California, I pronounce you husband and wife,” he finally droned. “You may?—”

But I was already kissing my wife. Indecently so.

My tongue was in her mouth and my hands were on her ass.

She giggled and I swallowed that too. I heard Principal Joseph mutter something and then he was gone, leaving me alone with my wife.

Shae shifted against me, rubbing her soft belly over my obvious erection.

We hadn’t had sex since the day Bray was born and I wouldn’t press the issue until Shae felt like her body was ready.

That didn’t stop me from being ridiculously horny though. Did I mention Shae’s boobs lately?

“Take me inside, husband,” she whispered in my ear as my kiss trailed across her jaw and down her neck. “I want to recreate our first time together.”

I lifted my head. My dick perked up, now painfully engorged behind the fly of my slacks. “Yeah? Are you sure?”

Shae gave me a sultry grin that set my veins on fire. “Oh, I’m sure.”

I didn’t waste time now either, carefully picking up my wife and carrying her across the threshold of the house. I deposited her in the laundry room, cupping her cheeks and trying to slow myself down.

“I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You won’t,” she whispered back. “Just go slow. And try not to get me pregnant again.”

That made my eyes widen. Fuck. I loved Bray and loved the family we’d created but I was not looking to add another baby into the mix so soon.

Or maybe ever. Shae huffed a laugh, pulling her dress up over her head and tossing it to the floor.

Her breasts were loose and the lacy white panties she wore offered no real barrier.

“Fuck, Shae. You’re so beautiful.”

This time, I love-fucked my wife, setting her up on the dryer and freeing my erection as I stepped between her legs.

When I entered her, I went painfully slow, making sure she could handle it before I moved a muscle.

Her legs wrapped around my waist and my hands were all over her body, enjoying the playground that was all mine now.

The dryer kept my hips from thrusting all the way in, which was a good thing our first time back to making love.

Thank Christ it didn’t take long before Shae was panting and throwing her head back.

I dragged my thumb across her clit and made sure she orgasmed long and hard before I let myself follow with the shallowest of thrusts.

I could have just looked at her and come in my pants.

My skin erupted in goose bumps. The pleasure of being inside her body was like nothing I’d ever experienced before.

This was way better than going to a fucking restaurant for our date.

There’d be plenty of time for dates, rough and fast sex, and everything in between. For stolen moments in the middle of the night where I wouldn’t have to sneak back over to Mom’s house afterward. There’d be a whole lifetime of moments together.

“I love you, Shae Wolfe,” I whispered into her skin. Hearing that combination for the first time did something crazy to my heart.

“I love you too, bat boy. Always have.”

I would never grow tired of hearing those three little words.

“I pulled some strings,” I said as we cleaned up the wreckage of moving Kinsley into her dorm.

Shae, Bray, and Cassie were down at the dumpster with the last haul of trash.

The two of them had developed a friendship over the summer that made everything with Kinsley run smoother.

Cassie had apologized for her comment that Shae overheard at the graduation party, and Shae had invited Cassie to join the Pinterest board she created for Kinsley with all her preferred dorm decorations.

Kinsley had surprised us all by choosing a college near the one Tatum went to for baseball. Her university was smaller and better geared to the degree she wanted. They’d still get to see each other often, but I was happy she was looking out for her best interests and not chasing a boy.

“Dad,” she groaned in the way only a teenage girl could.

“I haven’t even told you what I did yet,” I answered, exasperated. Between no sleep due to the baby and Kinsley’s whirlwind schedule getting ready for college, I couldn’t remember the last time I felt fully rested.

And yet I was living my very best fuckin’ life.

I held up car keys to the brand-new Jeep I bought last week and had delivered to the university this morning. “I got you a coveted parking space and wheels. You can see Tatum any time you want.”

Kinsley’s shocked face was all the thanks I needed.

First of all, she was speechless, which might have been a first. Just a high-pitched squeal came out of her mouth when she launched herself off her twin bed and slammed into me.

For being a foot shorter than me and weighing way less, she somehow rocked my body side to side in her happy dance.

Then she released me to snatch the key out of my hand.

“Seriously?”

“Jeep Wrangler, white, brand new,” I said proudly. “But if you crash it, it’s on you to fix it, so I suggest you drive like a girl who has something to lose.”

“Oh my God,” she breathed, staring at the key like it was solid gold. “This is the best thing ever and also highly embarrassing.”

I frowned. “What do you mean, embarrassing?”

Kinsley rolled her eyes. “You pulled some strings to get me a parking space? Ugh! So embarrassing! I want to be like every other freshman here.”

My hands went to my hips. “You are . If you fail a class, you pay for it. My pockets only go so deep. You gotta pull your own weight. You get caught with a fake ID, I will not be bailing you out of whatever trouble you get into.”

Kinsley grinned from ear to ear. “Perfect! Now let’s go see my car!” I noticed she didn’t argue about the fake ID which meant she probably already had one. She grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the dorm room. Shae and Cassie were walking down the hallway.

“Ah. I see you told her about the car,” Shae drawled, stroking Bray’s back as he snoozed against her chest in a sling.
