Chapter 25 Kevin #2
“I’m down for that, pretty lady,” I responded, feeling good with her decision to take things slow.
I was a patient man and had been waiting to make Ava mine from the moment I first saw her, so a little more time wasn’t gonna change much.
“Well, tell me how you want all this furniture you done gone out and got set up before I get the itis and become too tired to finish up.”
For the next couple of hours, I set up the furniture in the various rooms according to Ava’s instructions while Troy continued to help Dawn unpack boxes in the kitchen. After setting up all of the furniture and televisions, I checked the time and saw that it was almost eleven p.m.
“It’s getting kind of late and I have to be up early for work in the morning,” Dawn said as she walked into the family room where me, Ava, and Troy were.
“Damn, I didn’t realize it was this late,” Ava said checking the time on the TV guide. “Let me walk you down to your house so you won’t have to walk alone.”
“Girl, you act like this is the hood. I think I can manage walking a few houses down the street by myself, sis.”
“It’s not the hood, but it’s late, D.”
“I’ll walk you to your house,” Troy interjected. From the smile that spread across Dawn’s face it was clear that she was cool with it.
I kept noticing that Ava’s cellphone was going off, but she had the ringer on silent.
She looked down at the phone ringing then hit ignore, but seconds later it started ringing again.
I tried not to make it look obvious that I was peeping her phone ‘cause I didn’t want her to think I was checking for her business like that, but with it being so late at night, I couldn’t help but to wonder who it was.
Ava was thanking Dawn and Troy for helping her as she walked them both out. “Thanks so much for walking my sister’s hardheaded butt home.”
“No thanks needed,” Troy responded as Dawn rolled her eyes then cocked a smile at Troy.
I noticed that her cellphone was lighting up again, so I took that as an opportunity to say something. Clearly, she was ignoring whoever it was for a reason. “Your phone is over here gettin’ it in. Someone must really need to talk to you.”
“Trust me, it’s not important.”
“You sure ‘cause they callin’ back-to-back,” I replied.
“It’s my ex. He’s probably calling about the divorce papers being served to him again. He ripped up the first batch, so my lawyer resent them to him.”
“So, do you know how much longer until the divorce is final?”
“To be honest, no. But from what I was told, my lawyer might be able to get them pushed through without his signature. I’m hoping that’s the case ‘cause Justin is having a hard time accepting it, so I don’t see him signing those papers anytime soon.”
“That’s exciting… for you if she can do that.”
“I know, tell me about it. I’m praying she can.”
“I’m so happy for you. Looks like things are starting to fall into place for you. Your house is coming together pretty nicely. I can’t believe how much work we got done today.”
“I know, it’s like everything is moving so fast. I’m just happy the move is over with. Lord knows I’m tired.”
“Yeah, I bet. Thank God school is closed this week. You picked the perfect time to move.”
“It’s crazy ‘cause I didn’t even plan it this way. Let me go get Bully from out back. I almost forgot about my damn dog.” Ava chuckled. As she got up to head to the kitchen to let her dog in from the patio door, her doorbell rang. “Can you open the door for Troy please?”
“Of course,” I responded as I got up and headed to the front door.
From the way that Dawn and Troy were flirting and getting along, I expected him to take a little longer than ten minutes to walk her home. Even though Dawn just lived a few houses down, I figured he would be awhile trying to run game on her.
“Damn T, you back already?” I asked, swinging the door open.
“Who the fuck is you? And what the HELL are you doing at my wife’s house?”
“Oh, you must be the ex, fuckboy Justin. I’m Kevin, nigga! What the fuck is you doin’ round here?” I asked as I looked at dude with the meanest mug I could put on my face. He was standing there looking dumb as fuck with a cane.
“Excuse you! You have a lot of nerve questioning me when you standing in MY wife’s house!” dude shouted as he picked up the cane he was using and waved it in my face.
Busting out in a fit of laughter I responded, “Your wife, huh? You betta watch how you waving that cane in my face before I break the shit off in your ass, nigga. Matter fact, you might enjoy that from what I’ve heard.
” I couldn’t help but chuckle at the joke I made, which made him even madder.
Ask me if I gave a fuck and the answer would be hell no!
“What the hell did you just say to me, fool!” Justin blared, stepping closer to the front door.
“Don’t get your ass kicked, dude, especially since you handicapped and shit. You look and sound stupid as fuck right now with yo ol’ nasty, cripple ass! Hold on while I go get my lady right quick,” I snapped. As I turned around to go get Ava, she was walking up behind me.
She wasn’t my lady just yet, but his ass didn’t need to know that. Just the sight of him had me hot.
“JUSTIN! What in the hell are you doing here? How’d you know I moved here?” Ava fussed from behind me.
“Dawn’s neighbor told me,” he replied.
“The fuck! Do you know what time it is? You shouldn’t be here!” Ava responded as dude cut her off while glaring at me.
“Well, I wouldn’t have had to come if you had answered my damn calls! You know that I’m recovering from hip surgery…”
“So! What does your condition have to do with me?” Ava shot back as she stood with her arms across her chest.
“What? What if it was an emergency? I’m still your husband you know!” Justin continued to rant as I stood there shaking my head.
“Huh! You mean soon to be ex-husband! You’re not my concern anymore, Justin, and clearly, it’s not an emergency since you were able to bring your ass all the way over here with no problem. From what I can see you look just fine. You need to leave!” Ava responded.
“Oh, so that’s how you gon’ do me, Ava?! You move on with this scrub while we’re still married and talk to me like that!”
“Scrub? Fuck you, punk ass nigga!” I sneered, causing him to look from me to Ava.
“I know you can’t be serious after everything you did to me! You have a lot of nerve popping up to my crib talking shit, Justin. You need to leave before I call the police.”
“Call the police? Wow! I came over here to try to talk things over with you. I received another divorce packet and there are some things we need to talk about, don’t you think?”
“There’s nothing for us to talk about. Go talk to Tate or Shane—” Ava responded as she tried to close the front door in dude’s face. He put his cane in the way stopping her from shutting the door.
“Now, just wait one damn minute, Ava! I’m still your husband, got dammit!” Justin shouted.
“Dude, you heard the lady.” I stepped in and grabbed the cane as he still held onto it and pushed him out of the doorway with it. “Get yo ass on before you go from a cane to a wheelchair, nigga!” I glared into his eyes letting him know I didn’t give a fuck about his hip surgery.
“Ouch! Damn it! Man, look,” Justin pleaded as he stumbled back holding onto the cane for dear life. The shit would be funny as fuck if I wasn’t so damn pissed. “I don’t want no trouble. I came over here to talk to my wife, not to be fighting your big burly ass!”
“Well, according to your soon-to-be EX-wife, y’all ain’t got shit to talk about. Take ya ass on, bruh!”
“Ava, you not right for this shit! When you get the chance, I’d appreciate it if you’d return my call,” Justin requested as he turned to head toward his car.
Closing the door, I looked over at Ava and shook my head. “I’m sorry for getting involved, but dude has caused you enough drama and pain as it is. I wasn’t about to just stand there and let him ruin your happy mood on your first night in your new place.”
Stepping into my personal space, she lightly placed her hand on the side of my face then kissed me softly on the lips. I was taken off guard but totally down with it.
“Thank you for sticking up for me like that. The nerve of Dawn’s neighbor telling his ass where I moved to. I know it wasn’t nobody but Mrs. Jones with her nosey self,” Ava responded then stood back and looked into my eyes.
I held her chin up then kissed her back on the lips. “Fuck Mrs. Jones and fuck dude. Tonight, is your night, pretty lady,” I responded then slid my tongue into her mouth.
Surprisingly, she returned the gesture and slid her tongue into my mouth, and from there it was about to be on and poppin’ or so I thought.
So much for taking things slowly, I guess.
Hell, I was just going with her flow, and she had kissed me first. One thing led to another, and we were French kissing and groping all over each other.
The closeness of her body to mine was causing a rise out of my manhood, and I couldn’t control it if I tried.
I knew that Ava could feel all eleven and a half inches of my monster as she pressed her body against mine.
Just as I grabbed a chunk of her ample sized ass and brought her body closer to mine making sure to press my print against her mid-frame, the doorbell rang again.
We both were breathing heavily and clearly frustrated by the sudden intrusion.
“I’m about to choke dude’s ass out! I done had it with him!” I fumed then turned to snatch the door open as the doorbell rang again. “Dude, what the fuck is your prob—” Stopping when I noticed it was Troy and not Justin, I stood to the side to let him in.
“You good, cuz?” Troy asked, causing Ava to bust out laughing as Troy looked from me to her.
“Yeah man, but your timing is fucked up.”
“Hey, Dawn,” Ava said, answering her phone then walking off.
“Is everything good? When we got to Dawn’s crib, she said she saw Ava’s ex dude’s truck out front, so I made my way down here to see what was up.”
“You know I can handle myself, especially against a feminine ass nigga. We straight. Dude was on some dumb shit, but I sent his ass on. I thought you were him coming back when you rang the doorbell, which was why I snatched the door open like that.”
“What did dude want?”
“Not a damn thing. He said some shit about one of Dawn’s neighbors told him Ava moved here so he came down here to talk to her.”
“At this time of the night? Dude was on some dumb shit.”
“Exactly!”
“Dawn was trying to come down here, but I told her ass to stay put and to stay out it. With you being here I knew that Ava was straight, so Dawn didn’t need to get herself involved in shit.”
“I agree, cuz,” I said, shaking my head. “Dude fucked up what he and Ava had. He missed his chance at making things right. Shit, there’s a new sheriff in town now, and I ain’t about to sit back and let him nor anyone else fuck with her joy. You feel me?”
“Straight facts! You ready to go? I gotta get up early for work. If you not, I can go ask Dawn for a ride to the crib.”
“Nah, man, I can take you home. Let me just make sure Ava is straight. Give me a few minutes. I’ll meet you in the car.”
“Okay, bet. You sure though, cuz? I sensed that y’all was up to something,” Troy said, looking at me all weird. “Don’t have me sitting out here waiting all damn night while y’all up in here doing the most.”
“Dude, chill! Just give me a few minutes,” I replied, closing the door behind Troy then going to look for Ava. Finding her in the kitchen starting the dishwasher and talking to Dawn on the phone, I walked up behind her and touched her shoulder.
“Hold on for a second, Dawn,” Ava said then turned to looked at me.
“Hey, I’ma head out. I gotta take my cousin home. You gon’ be good or do you want me to come back when I’m done?”
“I should be fine. I know you must be tired. I don’t want to take up anymore of your time then I already have today.”
“You didn’t make me do anything I didn’t want to do,” I responded, causing Ava to blush. “Do you think dude will come back over once I leave?”
“I sure hope not, but if he does, I’ll just call the police and not open the door.”
“Okay, beautiful,” I responded then held her chin. “I’ll call you when I get home.” I gave her a quick kiss on the lips, then licked my lips as I stared into her eyes before heading toward the front door. “Come lock the door. Talk to you in a lil’ bit.”
Leaving out, I headed to my truck with a winning grin on my face.
