Chapter 16

Edoardo Jackson “Jackyl” Bianchi

Sweat steadily trickled down my face and the dip of my spine, my clothes soaked.

The humidity in Georgia was no joke! It was stifling.

It had been days since I’d showered, and it was making my skin crawl.

Tonight, when the sun went down, I would sneak out to the creek about a quarter mile east and rinse off.

Then again, what was the point? Another day or two, and everything would be over.

Laughter echoed through the trees, sending prickles to the end of my nerves.

Holding my breath and tilting my head, I listened, but they were still too far away to determine who it was.

Creeping to the edge of the cave, my palms on the rocky side, I peeked around the corner.

My heart skipped a beat, seeing my family headed straight toward me.

My wife and my babies. Christ, were they a sight for sore eyes.

It was remarkable how much I missed them.

Having them in my life every single day, I had taken them for granted.

Now that they were gone, I could barely breathe.

My sight raked over Violetta, my breathing shallowing and my stomach coiling.

Her hair was braided and then twisted into a bun with several thin curls falling around her face and neck.

Wearing a pair of faded denim, cutoff shorts and a light pink tank top, her breasts were swaying, indicating she wasn’t wearing a bra.

As always, she was stunning to look at, stealing my breath and claiming my heart.

When I noticed they were headed my way, I ducked to the end of the cave that was only about thirty feet deep. Backing all the way to the rear, I lurked in the shadows, anticipation gripping my bones. Adrenaline banging at my ears, my pulse was racing, my muscles trembling.

“Wait, wait!” she shouted when Eddie burst forward. “I need to check it out first.”

“Aw, Mom.”

“Don’t ‘aw, Mom,’ me, little boy. Do you know what lives in caves? Bears. I need to make sure it’s safe.”

Her shadow fell across the small opening a second before her petite frame filled my vision. My brows lifting, my palm pressed to my chest, longing to touch her again. I never knew this would be so hard. Until she was gone, I hadn’t realized how much I loved her.

She squatted, her legs parting, the seam of the shorts spreading her cheeks perfectly.

I suppressed the groan and cupped my dick, desperate to be inside her at least one more time.

Holding the side of the entrance, she squinted, trying to see inside, but I knew it was too dark back here.

She picked up a rock and threw it toward me.

I bit down on my tongue and braced so when it struck me, I didn’t react.

The jagged edge sliced at my leg, making it bleed.

When the rock didn’t clatter, as it should have, her brows furrowed, her lips parting. Hesitantly picking up another, I dared twist to the side, so when she flung it, this time, it hit the back wall. Thankfully, the kids were chattering and giggling, covering up any sound my movement made.

Satisfied, she sighed and stood, clapping the dirt from her palms. “Okay, it’s safe.”

“Yay!” Eddie cried, running inside.

My heart raced, my first instinct to hold out my arms and scoop him into my embrace.

“Eh eh! That is far enough, Eddie.”

“Aw, Mom.”

“One more ‘aw, Mom,’ and we head back, understand?”

Clucking his teeth and rolling his eyes, he spun around and moved a little closer to the entrance.

Less than six feet away, I could almost smell his shampoo, and it struck a chord of yearning I’d never felt before.

My focus shifted to Edwina, my princess, my first born, the one that bound Violetta to me forever.

She wasn’t having as good a time as her little brother, hovering near the entrance with an exaggerated pout.

“What’s wrong, nina?” she asked, tracing her fingertips through her dark brown hair.

She shrugged and kicked at a rock while Eddie crouched and moved about slowly. In his own little world, no one was paying him any attention as he talked to himself, pretending to be an explorer looking for treasure.

Gazing up at her mother, she asked, “Is Ty-Ty in trouble?”

An invisible, steel fist slammed into my gut, nearly making me grunt. She called him Ty-Ty, too? How fucking revolting. Fury sweeping through my system, I was panting through my nose, my teeth gritted hard.

“No, he’s not.”

“But the news—”

“Hey.” She squatted again, taking one of her hands and swinging it side to side. “Listen. I promise, everything is okay. It was all a misunderstanding.” Squinting, she jutted her chin, her tone changing to mischief. “You almost sound like you like Tyler now.”

Some of the rage eased. My little princess was loyal. She knew to not like that bastard. Good girl.

“He’s all right.”

She tugged her closer and cupped a cheek. “He likes you.”

Batting her lashes, she stared at Violetta through them, fidgeting with the hem of her tee shirt. “Uncle Vinny says he’s gonna be our daddy one day.”

She blanched and I damn near snapped with insanity.

Clenching my fists so hard, my nails were cutting into my skin, blood was oozing between my fingers.

Seething, the knife in my back twisted, pushing me over the edge into sheer abhorrence.

My best friend said what? Was there no goddamn loyalty in that fucking family?

Like brother like sister, neither of them could be trusted.

“When did he say that?” she shrieked, her voice quaking and husky.

“Yesterday. Is that why we can’t see Daddy anymore? Because we got a new one?”

A tiny whimper escaped her throat, a tear sliding down her cheek.

“Listen to me. Eddie, come here,” she snapped, beckoning him from the cave.

Huddling them together, her focus darted back and forth, the tip of her nose turning red.

“Tyler is not trying to replace anyone, okay? He does not expect you two to consider him your father. He just wants to be your friend.”

“But, you’re going to marry him and that’s gonna make him our daddy. Mommies and Daddies are married.”

She released a small sob and coughed, turning her profile to them to gaze toward the house in the distance.

“Where is Daddy?” Eddie asked, suddenly no longer exuberant.

“I’m not really sure, honey,” she rasped, bowing her chin.

“When can we see him again?”

Tipping her face, her cheeks were stained with tears, her eyes swelling. “You miss him, don’t you?”

He nodded and tugged at his bottom lip.

Clucking her teeth, she petted his back and pulled them both closer to hug them together. “Yeah, I know. I know you miss him.”

She rocked them a bit, petting their backs or hair. Leaning away, she grinned and sniffled. “I know we just got here, but let’s head back to the house. Dash bought some popcorn yesterday. Let’s make some and chill out and watch some movies. Okay?”

“Can we put caramel on the popcorn?”

Giggling, she nodded, a finger tucking under our daughter’s chin. “Of course. Let’s go.” She stood, took their hands, and led them away. Just before they were out of earshot, I heard my daughter ask if Tyler could watch with them.

Betrayed to the fullest, I edged my way to the entrance, seething, hyperventilating, seeing everything coated in blood red.

It was one thing for my own wife to deceive me, but now my own brothers.

Dash brought them out here to hide from me, and Vincent was already trying to replace me with Tyler motherfucking Warren.

I should have killed him when I had the chance.

Maiming him wasn’t good enough, he should have died.

Slowly. Painfully. My act of kindness had come back to bite me in the ass.

Well, never again. They would all pay, they would all suffer.

My wife, her lover, and my brothers. Even the kids would have to be punished.

Anguish ripping through my core at all the disloyalties from everyone I trusted most, I growled from the pit of my stomach, spun around, and slammed my already bloodied fist into the wall of the cave.

Bones shattered, but I felt nothing, for there was no pain deeper than having my entire family turn their backs on me for an outsider. Goddamn Tyler Warren.

Everyone would die. And then, when the last breath was taken, I would gather my wife and children, hold them in my arms, and take my own life. Just because they had to die, didn’t mean they had to go alone. I would be with them, binding us together for eternity.

Trembling with rage, I stood in the darkness on the upper deck, a few feet from the windows to hide in the shadows.

My children were sleeping peacefully on the sectional, curled together, tucked neatly beneath a blanket while Shrek continued to play on the television.

On the other side of the thick, brick wall was my wife and her lover, making out in the kitchen.

She was sitting on the island, her legs wrapped around his waist, her hands buried in his hair.

Kissing one another rather zealously, every now and then, their tongues would flash.

His palms cupped her breasts, groping through her shirt.

One slid down her torso and tucked into the waist of her pajama pants, the movements underneath a clear indication of what he was doing.

What he was feeling. He was feeling my wife’s soft, smooth, silky pussy.

I taught that bitch everything she knew, I molded her into the perfect whore.

Before me, she’d never sucked dick, never taken it up the ass, never squirted.

I opened her up and awakened her kinks, I created her, goddammit!

And now another piece of shit was reaping the rewards. While my babies were in the other room.

Disgusting, they were all disgusting, vile creatures that deserved all the terror and agony they would feel before the sun rose.

This house would be painted red with blood by morning.

I would cut their hearts out and smash them into pieces, just as they’d done to me.

How could they? How could she break our vows?

How could Dash and Vincent put their loyalty into Tyler over me?

What the fuck was happening? Why was this happening? Nothing made sense.

Violetta threw her head back, her hair pooling on the island behind.

One arm folded around his neck, the other leaned back to hold her weight, her hips wiggling about.

Tyler lowered his chin, trailing kisses, dragging his tongue lower.

Tugging the front of the shirt to expose a tit, he latched on to the nipple and suckled.

She squealed loud enough for me to hear and I cringed, my focus flitting to see if the kids woke.

Not reacting, I looked back at the traitorous simp.

He was standing upright, both of them snickering.

His fingers pausing, they bent to the side, checking the living room.

Before they could start up again, Dash bounded around the foot of the stairs and made his way to the kitchen.

Tyler abruptly stepped away, licking his fingers clean while she fixed her shirt.

The three chatted, their expressions serious.

Sneering, I looked down at my broken, swollen hand that was turning a dark purple.

As soon as everyone was in bed, I would start cleaning up the mess they’d made of my life.

I crept for the stairs and hurried down them, stomping back to the cave.

Time to get things ready and prepare. It was almost time.
