Epilogue
Mandy gazed out at the crowd of people waiting for her to walk towards Zahir. The music was soft and lyrical and she felt like a princess. Or a queen, she corrected. Gripping her bouquet tightly, she took a deep breath, and stepped forward.
Immediately, all eyes turned towards her. There was a large crowd, but Mandy searched for familiar faces. Clarissa, Kennedi and Ella all stood in their lovely, green gowns at the front of the room. Raven and Astra beamed, waving to her from the audience in the front row. But where was Zahir? Why couldn’t she see him? For a moment, Mandy felt a spurt of panic fill her throat.
But a second later, Zahir stepped out and she sighed with relief. He was here! This was really happening! She was about to become his wife! She’d thought about the oddity of this courtship. From investigating potential candidates, to becoming the actual fiancée, Mandy felt as if her life had become a whirlwind.
And Zahir was the rock in the center. Every time she became overwhelmed, Mandy just had to look at the man to feel calm.
Okay, not calm. Zahir wasn’t a calming personality. Especially at night. He was exhausting, actually. And yet, she felt more alive now than she ever had! Zahir made her feel…alive and powerful. He energized her and made her feel wonderful.
She loved him. So much!
Zahir couldn’t believe the woman he’d found. What an accident of luck, he thought as he took Mandy’s hands. Everything about her was beautiful. Her mind, her body, and her emotions were all beautiful. After such a horrible reason for hiring her, he’d lucked out and found the woman of his dreams. Out of the thousands of women he’d met over the years, Mandy was the only woman he could imagine spending the rest of his life with. He wanted to make her so happy, she never regretted putting her trust in him.
