19.

My eyes open slowly. My head is hurting badly… really badly. A sharp pain shoots through my skull and tears immediately fill my eyes because of it.

I try to move but even that small movement makes my vision blur. Something strange comes into my view. This is not my room. The ceiling looks different. The walls are different. The air even smells different.

I look around slowly, forcing myself to stay calm but it is impossible. My heart is beating too fast. My breathing feels heavy. I feel like I am about to lose my consciousness again. My fingers clutch the bedsheet tightly.

“Sita” I hear Tara’s voice soft but filled with worry.

I slowly turn my head toward her. She is sitting on a chair beside the bed, leaning slightly forward. Her eyes are fixed on me, filled with fear and concern. Her hands are tightly clasped together in her lap as if she has been praying.

“Wh… what is happening, Tara?” I ask. My voice comes out weak and shaky. My throat feels dry. I am unable to think properly or say anything more.

“Everything is okay and...” she starts speaking, her voice trembling a little.

But before she can finish, memories of last night start coming back.

Gunshot.

Blood.

Baba.

My family.

The flashes hit my mind one after another. My breathing stops for a second. My eyes widen in horror.

“Tara… my baba, Tara, he…” I try to speak but my voice breaks. My chest feels tight as I remember everything clearly now.

It was not a dream. It was not a nightmare. It was real.

My hand moves unintentionally toward my hair partition. My fingers tremble as they touch it. When I pull my hand back, I see the red stain on my fingers. The deep red color says everything without words. My heart drops. It is not a dream. Everything was real.

“Sita, first eat something and have your medicines” she says gently, leaning closer. She wipes my face softly. I did not even realize when my tears started falling nonstop. They are flowing continuously, one after another.

It is not just me crying. It is my heart crying.

“Tara sab khatam ho gaya, Tara” I say it in a broken voice and slowly hug her. My body feels weak but I still hold onto her as if she is the only thing keeping me from falling apart.

(Tara, everything is over, Tara)

She immediately wraps her arms around me tightly. Her hand moves up and down my back in slow, comforting strokes. She hugs me as if she wants to protect me from everything.

“Sita, hua kya hai?” she asks softly.

(Sita, what has happened?)

I slowly break the hug. My eyes are swollen. My lips are trembling. I look at her and then I start telling her everything.

Every single thing that feels like a dream. The worst dream of my life.

“Baba, main gussa ho jaungi aap se” I say, turning my face away from him like a stubborn child.

(Baba, I will get angry with you)

I fold my arms across my chest and look to the other side, pretending to be upset. But inside, I am just worried.

“Sita, mera baccha, tum log chale jao. Mujhe kuch zaruri kaam hai” he tells, his eyes still fixed on his laptop screen.

(Sita, my child, you all go. I have some important work)

His fingers are moving fast. I do not even know what he is typing. The screen light reflects on his tired face. I look at him carefully. His eyes have dark circles under them.

For the past one week, he has been worried like this. Silent. Lost. He is not telling anyone anything in the house.

“Baba” I call him softly. I slowly walk closer and kneel down in front of him so that I can see his face properly. My hands rest on his knees. I look up at him with pleading eyes.

He knows very well what I am going to ask. That is why he does not look at me. His eyes stay on the screen as if it is the most important thing in the world.

“Aapko meri kasam” I say in a low but firm voice.

(I swear you on me)

The moment I say that, his fingers stop moving. The room becomes silent. He stares at the screen for a few seconds but still does not look at me. His jaw tightens slightly.

“Please” I whisper again, my voice shaking.

He sighs heavily, as if he has been carrying a burden alone. Slowly, he turns his head toward me. His eyes look serious… and tired.

“There is a man who is known as the biggest rival of Zayran Kaalver” he speak.

The moment that name comes out of his mouth, fear rushes through my body. My heart skips a beat. My hands become cold. I swallow hard.

“He is after me, thinking that I have his file, which I don’t have” he continues, looking straight into my eyes.

His hand lifts slowly and rests on my head. He gently caresses my hair like he always does. But this time, his touch feels different… heavier. As if he is trying to comfort me even when he himself is not sure of anything.

“So what will you do now?” I ask slowly, my voice barely above a whisper.

He shrugs his shoulders slightly but there is no confidence in that movement. His eyes drift away from mine for a moment. He does not have a clear answer. And that scares me even more.

“I don't know” he replies quietly.

The moment those words leave his mouth, fear runs through my whole body. My heart starts beating faster. If even Baba does not know what to do, then how serious is this?

Did I made a mistake by going into his mansion… or by stepping into his life? The thought suddenly crosses my mind and it makes my chest feel heavy.

“Aap abhi tak tayyar nahi hue?” Maa comes inside the room and glares at Baba.

(You still haven’t gotten ready?)

She stands near the door with her hands on her waist, looking annoyed. Baba looks at her like a child who has been caught doing something wrong.

“Anu ne cab book kar di hai. Uth jaiye warna…” Maa speak in a warning tone.

(Anu has booked the cab. Get up now, otherwise…)

Before she can even complete her sentence, Baba quickly gets up from his chair.

“Okay, okay, madam” he whisper lightly and walks toward the washroom.

Maa chuckles at his reaction, shaking her head a little. I cannot help but smile seeing them like this. For a moment, it feels normal again. I slowly get up from the floor.

“Tujhe kya hua?” Maa asks, noticing my face.

(What happened to you?)

Her eyes scan my face carefully. I quickly shake my head and force a small smile.

“Nothing” I say softly and walk out of the room before she can ask more questions.

As I step into the hallway, I close my eyes for a second. Kanha, please don’t let anything wrong happen, I pray silently in my mind.

“Dii, aapne kahi irada to nahi badal dia na?” Adi asks, looking at me with wide eyes.

(Sister, you haven’t changed your mind, right?)

He stands in front of me with an exaggerated serious face. I ignore him and walk past him, dropping myself on the couch casually.

“Dekh raha hai, chote? Ek job kya lag gayi, ghamand aa gaya inke andar” Anu says dramatically.

(See, adi, She got one job and now she is full of pride)

Both of them look at me with fake judgmental glares, crossing their arms.

“Main bas Maa aur Baba ko party de rahi hoon. Tum dono to bhikari ho, katora lekar kahin bhi khade ho jaate ho” I said irritatedly.

(I am just giving a party to Mom and Dad. You two are beggars, you stand anywhere with a bowl in your hands)

Both of them gasp loudly, placing their hands on their chests as if I have insulted their entire existence.

“Bhagwan ka khauf kha lo tum, Dii. Subah hamare pair pakad kar kaha tha tumne dinner par chalne ke liye aur ab baat se mukar gayi” Anu argues dramatically.

(Have some fear of God, Sister. In the morning you were holding our feet asking us to go for dinner and now you are backing out)

I look at them and they give me fake innocent eyes. They are the ones who buttered me first so I would take them out.

“Bhikari kahin ke” I mumble under my breath and look away from them.

(Beggars)

“Woh to tu hai. Aaj do paise kya aa gaye, apne aap ko Elon Musk samajh rahi hai” my subconscious mocks me.

(That’s you. Just because you got a little money today, you think you are Elon Musk)

I lightly hit the back of my head against the couch in frustration, closing my eyes for a second. Even my own mind does not support me.

“Wait, aaj main kuch zyada hi pyari nahi lag rahi?” I say, looking at myself carefully.

(Wait, don’t I look extra beautiful today?)

I stand in front of the mirror for a second, admiring how perfect I look. My white dress falls perfectly around me. My hair is set nicely. My face is glowing. I smile at my reflection, clearly impressed with myself.

I twirl a little, letting the dress spread softly around me. Then I turn dramatically toward these two bheekmanges, expecting them to admire at me in shock.

But they ignore me.

Completely ignore me.

“Sita Tiwari ko ignore kiya in logon ne” I mutter to myself in disbelief.

(They ignored Sita Tiwari)

I cross my arms and raise my chin proudly.

“Okay, to Adi ko Lamborghini aur Anu ko YSL ki heels nahi chahiye, I guess” I say casually, pretending not to care. I look down at my hands and start admiring my freshly done nails, acting expensive.

Then suddenly reality hits me. Wait but is teaching ki job me mushkil se mujhe 15k mile ge starting me. 15k me to bas mai pani pe leti hu in logo ko ye sab kaha se dilao gi. Sita lambi lambi hakne me kya jata hai, hak na.

(Wait… but in this teaching job I will barely get 15k in the beginning. In 15k I can only survive on water. How will I buy them all this? Sita, what does it cost to boast big? Just boast)

“Dii…” I hear their voice together.

I turn my head quickly toward them.

“Where are you guys?” I ask, looking around when I do not see them standing anymore.

“Aapke charnon mein hain, Devi” they say together dramatically.

(We are at your feet)

I look down and instantly take a step back in shock. They are actually sitting on the floor right in front of my feet, folding their hands in fake devotion.

“Di, aap apsara ho, apsara. Aur is white dress mein dead body...I mean Devi dikhti ho” Anu express dramatically.

(Sister, you are an angel, a goddess. And in this white dress you look like a dead body.... I mean, a goddess)

I narrow my eyes at the “dead body” part but still flip my hair proudly, pretending to accept the compliment.

“Adi” I call him while adjusting my hair again, lifting my chin.

“Di, apni tareef karne ke liye aisa koi word bana hi nahi. Aap hard ho… sandas ka paat ho” he says with a straight face.

(Sister, no word has been created to praise you. You are hard… like a toilet seat)

I freeze for a second. Then I glare at him sharply, my eyes widening in disbelief and anger.

“I mean beautiful ho. Main to kehta hoon aapko museum mein rakhna chahiye” he says dramatically.

(I mean you are beautiful. I think you should be kept in a museum)

I place my hand on my chest and start fanning myself proudly as if I cannot handle this much praise.

“Stop, guys” I say, trying to control my smile.

Just then, I turn toward the main door as Maa and Baba come out, ready to leave.

“Namuna hai na yeh, is liye museum mein rakhna chahiye” Adi and Anu whisper to themselves.

(She is a sample piece, that’s why she should be kept in a museum.)

But I do not hear them.

“Why are you both so happy?” Maa asks, looking at them suspiciously.

“Nothing” they say together mischievously, trying to control their laughter.

Soon, we all settle inside the cab. I sit beside the window and watch the city lights pass by as the cab moves toward the restaurant. Baba and Maa sit together. Adi and Anu keep nudging each other and giggling.

At the restaurant, we sit around the table. The warm lights make everything look cozy. Plates of food are placed in front of us.

“Ummm, this is so tasty” Anu and Adi say together, stuffing food into their mouths.

“Free ki cheezein achchi hi lagti hain” I say while eating fries casually.

(Free things always taste good)

“Lagta hai agle saat janam tak taane maaregi Sita in dono ko” Maa speaks, laughing.

(It looks like Sita will taunt these two for the next seven lifetimes)

Baba laughs along with her, shaking his head. “Sita to Sita hai” he admits.

(Sita will always be Sita)

I smile softly seeing my family happy like this. For a moment, everything feels perfect. Peaceful. Normal.

“By the way, what do you teach kids in these three days?” Baba asks curiously.

I grin proudly, about to answer.

“ABCDEFG… G mein se nikle Gandhi G” Maa says jokingly.

Everyone bursts out laughing at me. I pout immediately, crossing my arms like an offended child.

“Aap jaise kam dimaag wale logon se expect hi kya karun main, huh” I say dramatically and look away.

(What can I even expect from dumb people like you all, huh)

I pretend to be angry but I am smiling inside.

But suddenly, everyone’s smile fades.

A loud gunshot echoes in the air.

My heart stops.

“Anil!” Maa shouts.

My head shoots up toward Baba instantly. Everything feels slow for a second. Before anyone can even think or imagine what is happening, another gunshot echoes.

Then another.

Then another.

Not one.

Not two.

But four bullets hit Baba continuously.

His body jerks with each shot. His chair falls back loudly. He collapses onto the ground.

Everything around me goes silent.

“Baba!” we all shout together and run toward him.

He is breathing heavily. The bullets hit his hands and his stomach. My heart feels like it stops beating.

Blood spreads all over his shirt… and on the ground beneath him. The red color keeps spreading and I feel like the world around me is spinning.

People around us scream and rush away from there. Chairs fall. Plates break. Everyone runs to save themselves, leaving me and my family behind like we are nothing.

“Anil! Anil!” Maa shouts, tapping Baba’s cheek again and again. Her hands are shaking badly.

“Baba…” Anu cries loudly. She presses her hands on his stomach, trying to stop the bleeding but blood keeps coming out through her fingers.

“Adi, call the ambulance!” I shout, my voice breaking.

I lift Baba’s head carefully and place it on my lap. His head feels heavy. His skin feels cold.

“B… Baba, d… don’t close your eyes” I say, trying not to panic because my family needs me right now. But my tears fall hard and continuously. I cannot stop them. My chest hurts with fear and pain.

“N… nothing will h… happen” he says slowly, looking at Maa. His eyes are half closed. Pain is clearly visible on his face. His lips tremble while speaking.

“Ambulance will take time. We have to take him ourselves” I say quickly, looking at Adi.

Adi gulps hard, trying to think of something. His hands are shaking while holding his phone. He looks around helplessly.

I also look around. People are standing far away from us, watching like we are some kind of danger. No one is coming forward to help.

“Move aside, please” I hear a voice. I turn my head toward it.

Grover.

He walks quickly toward us without wasting a second. He bends down and carefully lifts Baba in his arms. I do not wait even one second. I immediately help him support Baba’s body.

Grover walks fast toward the car. I walk beside him.

I am not able to think anything right now. My mind is blank. I just want my Baba to be safe.

Please, Kanha, save him… or…

Sita and her family run inside the hospital while the ward boys rush her father on a stretcher. His body lies still on the moving stretcher, his shirt soaked in blood. The wheels make a loud sound against the hospital floor.

Sita runs beside him, holding the edge of the stretcher, her hands stained red.

The entire family is crying. Her mother is almost on the verge of losing her consciousness. Her steps are unsteady. Her face is pale. Tears keep falling from her eyes without stopping.

They reach the emergency theatre and the doctors quickly push the stretcher inside. The doors close in front of them with a loud sound.

“Y… ye kya ho gaya…” her mother cries and falls on the ground.

(W… what has happened…)

“Maa!” the three of them shout together.

They quickly bend down, lift her carefully and make her sit on a nearby chair. Anu holds her shoulders. Adi wipes his own tears while trying to support her.

“Please, Maa, don’t lose hope. Nothing will happen to Baba” Sita says, kneeling in front of her mother. Her own voice is shaking but she tries to sound strong.

She is trying to convince her mother… but more than that, she is trying to convince herself.

“Ma’am, fill the form first” a nurse says in a professional tone.

Sita nods her head quickly and stands up. Her legs feel weak but she forces herself to walk toward the counter.

“First you have to pay 2 lakhs. Then we will start his treatment” the nurse says calmly.

Sita looks at her in shock.

“W… we don’t have money right now, but I will arrange it. You start the treatment” she says desperately. Her hands are trembling badly. Her mind keeps repeating one thought, if the treatment gets delayed, anything can happen to Baba.

“Ma’am, sorry. First pay” the nurse repeats firmly.

Before Sita can say anything else, someone places a black card on the counter.

“Start his treatment” the man orders coldly.

Sita’s head slowly turns toward the voice. Her breathing hitches.

Zayran is standing there… looking at her.

“Y… you are the one behind his condition” she says and turns toward him completely.

Her eyes are burning with hate and anger. Her chest is rising up and down heavily. Tears are in her eyes but they are not of weakness. They are of rage.

“Do you have any proof?” he says calmly. His voice is cold.

“I know you are the one behind all this. You sent those men to kill my Baba” she says louder, taking a step closer to him.

Her hands are shaking but her voice is filled with anger. She stands straight in front of him.

He just stares at her. He does not move his eyes away from her even for a second. His expression remains unreadable.

“You are the reason for your father’s condition” he says slowly. Her eyes widen slightly in shock.

“You came to my mansion. Your father got information about me. Your father started collecting proof against me so that he could kill me. But… but… but your father forgot who I am” he says, his voice turning darker.

“There are many who want to kill me to get my position. But your father wanted to do it. And because of this reason, my rivals are now planning to kill him. And trust me, my rivals are monsters… unlike me” He pauses for a second, looking directly into her eyes.

“I saved your father. But they will not. This time they attacked your father. And maybe next time, the target will be your family”

Her fists clench tightly at her sides. Her nails dig into her palms. Her eyes burn into his as if she wants to tear him apart.

“And look there” he says, pointing outside the window toward a nearby building.

She follows his finger with trembling eyes.

On the roof of the building, a sniper is sitting. The gun is pointed directly toward the place where her family is sitting in the hospital waiting area.

Her eyes widen in pure horror. Her fingers tighten around her dress. Her breathing becomes uneven. Tears start welling up in her eyes as fear slowly replaces her anger.

“Only you can save your family. And I can stop my rivals. But you are no one to me. Why would I do that for you?” he says calmly.

She looks down at the ground, her breath shaking. She understands every single word he says. And more than the words… she understands the meaning behind them.

“Think. You have a lot of time. But the more you think, the more your family will pay” he says, as if nothing serious is happening.

She knows one thing very clearly, she will never go to him. No matter what. But her decision changes completely the very next second.

A loud gunshot fires.

She startles badly. Her heart jumps into her throat. She immediately turns toward her family.

“Maa!” she shouts and runs toward them.

Before she can even reach them, the glass window behind them shatters into pieces. The sound is loud and sharp. Glass falls everywhere on the floor.

The bullet hits just right beside her mother’s head. Her mother screams and bends down in fear.

Sita quickly reaches them. She holds her mother and siblings tightly and pulls them away.

She takes her family and runs toward a nearby room where everyone is rushing after hearing the gunshot. People are screaming. Nurses are shouting. Chaos spreads everywhere.

“Are you okay?” she asks quickly, holding her mother’s face in her hands.

Her whole body is trembling badly. Her hands are cold. Her breathing is uneven. She checks her siblings with panic in her eyes.

This is not how she wants her family to be. Crying. Shaking. Terrified. She slowly looks toward the building outside the window.

The sniper is still sitting there. Her heart drops.

“I’m sorry” she mumbles under her breath while looking at her family. She does not think twice. She stands up and runs outside the room.

He is walking out of the building with Grover.

“Stop all this” she says in a broken voice.

She is breathing heavily. Her chest rises and falls fast. Tears are falling nonstop from her eyes. Her whole body is shivering.

“P… please stop all this” she says again, joining her hands in front of him. Her fingers tremble as she folds them together. She cannot even look at him properly.

“Catch them, Grover” he order calmly to Grover and then turns fully toward her

She is looking down at the floor, completely broken. Her shoulders are shaking. And he… he is calm. His face shows no emotion.

“I’m behind the hospital building” he says in a steady voice.

She cries. She just cries. Then slowly… very slowly… she nods her head.

He walks out of the hospital, looking at her one last time. His eyes stay on her for a second longer before he turns away.

She just stands there.

A few hours ago, she asked herself if she made a mistake by entering his mansion or in his life.

No.

She was wrong. She did not make a mistake.

She committed a sin. A sin for which she is now going to pay with her life.

She knows very well that she will hate herself for this. Her family will hate her too. But she has no other option.

She knows very clearly that no one can stop all this except him.

And he… he does nothing. Because he knows. He knows very well what future she and her family hold.

That is why he does not force her. He does not threaten her. He knows she herself will come to him. He knows she will get ready to marry him.

He knows how to play the game without even moving a single step.

“Shhh… don’t cry” Tara says softly, trying to calm Sita.

But Tara herself is crying. Tears are rolling down her cheeks as she looks at her only friend breaking like this. Her hand gently rubs Sita’s back in slow circles.

“Tara… I… I want to see Baba” Sita says, wiping her tears quickly with the back of her hand.

She pushes the blanket aside and slowly gets up from the bed. Her legs feel weak. Her head still feels heavy. But she does not care.

“First take your medicine, Sita” Tara tries to stop her gently.

But Sita does not stop. She starts walking toward the door. Her steps are unsteady. She almost loses her balance once but she holds the wall for support.

Tara quickly walks behind her and holds her hand tightly, supporting her.

In the living room, Zayran is sitting on the sofa. His family members are sitting here and there, whispering among themselves.

Everyone wants to see who his wife is. Everyone wants to know how and when he got married. But no one has the courage to ask him directly.

Suddenly, his eyes lift. They catch a glimpse of her. His wife. His gaze stops on her completely.

Sita also slows down the moment their eyes meet. Her breath becomes uneven. For a second, everything around her fades.

Somewhere deep inside her heart, she believes that he is the one who saved her family. But another part of her also knows… he is the reason behind all this. Even if indirectly.

“You married her?” his Dadi’s loud voice echoes in the living room.

Sita startles at the sudden voice. She looks around and sees everyone staring at her.

But he… he does not even blink. He does not move his eyes away from her.

“Tune kala jadu kar diya na hamare ladke par!” Neelam shouts angrily while moving toward Sita.

(You have done black magic on our son, haven’t you!)

Sita clutches the railing tightly. Her fingers wrap around it as fear spreads inside her chest.

Before Neelam can reach her, Zayran suddenly gets up from his seat. He takes a step forward. Neelam stop in her place immediately. Fear flashes in her eyes.

He walks toward Sita slowly and stands right in front of her.

“Let’s go” he says calmly. Sita gulps hard.

“W… where?” she asks. A slow smile appears on his lips.

“To see my father-in-law” he says calmly.

Her eyes widen slightly. If he goes with her, then....Before she can say anything, he turns and starts walking out of the mansion.

She does not wait. She immediately walks after him. Right now, she only wants to see her father. Nothing else matters.

She can feel everyone’s gaze on her back as she walks through the hall. But she does not care about anything right now.

He sits inside the car first. She quietly sits after him in the back seat. The door closes with a soft sound.

Grover starts the car and drives toward the hospital.

The night has started. The sun has already set. Darkness slowly covers the sky. She sits near the window and looks outside silently. The city lights pass by in a blur.

Her mind remembers everything that happened in these 24 hours. Her life has completely changed.

She has become his wife. Wife of a man whom she hates.

His eyes are fixed on her as she keeps looking outside. She looks weak… too weak in just one day. Her face has lost its glow. Her shoulders look heavy.

He was right when he said he did not do anything. She herself came to him. She herself told him to marry her.

He knows from the start that her father would come after him. And he also knows that his rivals would go after her father.

That is why he was calm all the time.

Because he knows how everyone is going to react, from her father… to his rivals… to her.

The car stops outside the hospital. She does not wait even for one second. She quickly opens the door and runs inside the hospital.

He does not step out. He stays inside the car, watching her from there.

“Maa” Sita calls softly as soon as she sees her mother sitting outside the room with Anu and Adi.

“Sita!” her mother immediately gets up and rushes toward her.

She holds Sita’s face in her hands and starts checking her properly from head to toe. Her hands move over her arms, her shoulders, her cheeks. Her eyes are filled with worry.

“Where were you since morning? You didn’t inform me. I was so worried for you” she says, her voice shaking.

Sita can see fear clearly on her mother’s face. She looks scared… scared to lose any member of her family.

“How is Baba?” Sita asks slowly. Her voice is low. Her eyes are already filled with tears.

Anu and Adi look at their Dii silently. Tears are standing in their eyes. They know. They know very well where she was. And they know where she belongs now.

“He is okay, Sita. He woke up a few hours ago but he is too weak, so he lost consciousness again. But the doctor said he will recover soon” her mother says with a small smile.

There is relief on her face. She looks happy just knowing that her husband is out of danger.

“But from where did you arrange all the money and....” her mother starts speaking. She suddenly stops. Her eyes fall on the hair partition of Sita.

The red sindoor is clearly visible.

“Sita… ye…” she says slowly and touches her head.

Her fingers tremble slightly as they brush against the sindoor. Her eyes widen. Her doubt slowly starts becoming clear.

“Y… you didn’t marry h… him. Tell me, Sita” her mother asks, holding her hand tightly.

Sita looks down at the floor. She does not say anything. Her silence says everything. Her mother’s grip slowly loosens from her hand.

“Why?” her mother asks slowly. Tears start falling from her eyes one by one.

“Sita, kyun kiya aisa? Meri bacchi, kyun? Kyun apni zindagi kharab ki tune?” she cries, holding Sita’s shoulders tightly.

(Sita, why? Why you ruin your life?)

Her fingers press into Sita’s shoulders as if she is trying to shake sense into her.

Sita does not reply. She just looks down at the floor. Her lips tremble. She is trying very hard to control her tears but they still gather in her eyes.

“T… tu use chhod de. Wapas aa ja. Use chhod de, Sita” her mother says, wiping her own tears harshly.

(L… leave him. Come back. Leave him, Sita)

But Sita’s next action breaks her mother completely. Sita slowly removes her mother’s hands from her shoulders. Then she shakes her head.

“I can’t, Maa” she says softly, taking a small step back. Her voice is low but firm.

“Please maaf kar dena agar ho sake to… aur Baba ka khayal rakhna” she says slowly while looking at her siblings and her mother.

(Please forgive me if you can… and take care of Baba)

Her mother cries harder hearing this.

Anu covers her mouth to stop her sob. Adi looks away, unable to see his sister like this.

Sita does not stop. She does not look at them again.

Because she knows… if she stops even for one second, she will break. And if she breaks, everything will be ruined. She turns and runs out of the hospital.

Once outside, she stops and takes deep breaths. Her chest hurts. Her hands are shaking.

After a moment, she walks toward the car and sits inside again. The car starts moving away from the hospital.

She keeps looking straight ahead. She knows her life is a mess. But she also knows that there is always a reason behind every situation… every condition.

She trusts her Kanha. She believes that He will not do anything bad with her.

She still has hope.

He… he only knows one thing, how to ruin those who try to mess with him.

But not this time. Because now they are husband and wife.

And their destiny is going to play both a beautiful and cruel game with them.

A game where both of them will have to give something willingly…And something without which they cannot live.
