Chapter Eighteen #2

Our magics swirled around the room, and through our bond, I could tell how close he was. I was right there with him.

“Oh, sweetheart. I’m gonna…” I moaned out.

Dain met me thrust for thrust, tightly gripping onto my back. “Yes. Do it. I’m… I’m so close.”

He let out another moan, and that did it. That sent me over the edge. As pleasure unlike anything I’d ever felt before swept through my entire body, my magic and Dain’s mixed around us, becoming one big snowstorm of white, green, and red.

My orgasm hit me, and all I could see was a flash of white, but I knew snowflakes were falling all around us because my magic burst with power.

And then Dain’s orgasm hit him, and through our bond, I felt his pleasure. It amped up my own in a ricochet of bliss. Around and around it went, making it last so long I was afraid I’d pass out.

When I finally came back to myself, I realized I was lying flat on top of Dain, squishing him to the bed as he ran his fingers gently over my back.

“Oh shit. Are you okay?” I tried to pull up, but he gripped me, not allowing me to move.

“I can handle your weight, babe. I’m a werewolf, remember?” He patted my back. “Stay? For a few more minutes?”

I knew he was telling the truth, I could sense it, so I relaxed in his hold for a few minutes, tucking my face into the crook of his neck. He idly brushed my long hair out of both our faces, making me chuckle when some of it got in his mouth.

“Ugh. I love your hair, but I don’t want to eat it. Blech.”

I laughed again, and he laughed with me, then hugged me tight—once he was no longer eating my hair.

We stayed that way for a long time, but after a while, I felt like I was squishing him, so I rolled us to the side a little, and my sweet—and sated—werewolf snuggled right into my side.

His head rested on my shoulder, his fingers playing with the hair on my chest, and I ran my fingertips along the soft skin of his arm as I pressed my lips to his forehead in a lingering kiss.

I was content. We both were.

We were happy.

Fuck, I was so damn happy we were both okay, we were safe, and that we were together.

I truly never wanted to let him go. Ever.

Maybe we could simply stay right here and hire someone to bring us food and drinks for the rest of our lives.

“I can definitely get behind staying in your arms forever,” he murmured, sounding tired but pleased.

I grinned, pressing my lips to his skin. “Yeah… I like that idea. A lot.” It was ridiculous, and we both knew it, but it was a nice dream to have.

He sighed happily and said, “I love you, Avalanche.”

“I love you too.” I kissed his forehead again.

Several minutes passed before he spoke again. “You need to give me a tour.”

“Right now?”

He stared up at me for a moment. “I want to sleep, but I’m so curious now that I’m in here, I don’t think I’ll be able to until I see at least some of the castle.”

I snorted. “It’s not a castle.”

“You have towers, Lanche. Towers. That makes it a castle.”

I sighed and shrugged. “I only made those for the view.”

“Yeah?”

“Mhm. Let me show you my favorite place in the house.”

“Castle.”

I snorted again. “My home. Better?”

He grinned. “Lead the way.”

We both got up, albeit a little reluctantly, and put on our underwear and t-shirts, and I passed him a pair of fuzzy socks.

Then I grabbed his hand before he could put on pants.

He didn’t need them since I kept the place toasty warm, and I was hoping to convince him to cuddle once we were all the way upstairs.

And hopefully I could get him naked again, so the less clothes I had to contend with, the better.

I pointed out a few rooms as we walked, an office and a handful of bedrooms that my siblings sometimes used. I had enough that they could all stay here at the same time and each have their own.

“Look,” I said, gesturing to the last bedroom. “This one is never used, so it can be your brother’s unofficial room if you get him to come stay for a few days. I know we don’t live that far away, but the roads can get very icy at night, and I wouldn’t want him to risk driving, so—oomph.”

Dain launched himself at me, hugging me tight around the waist, and I didn’t hesitate to return it. “Thank you, baby. That’s so fucking sweet, I almost can’t stand it.”

With a chuckle, I held on tighter. “Your brother is welcome here anytime.” That made him give me another squeeze.

Eventually, he released me, and I walked him up to the next floor. This floor wasn’t as large as the one with all the bedrooms, and was basically just one giant room with a few closets.

“Holy shit. You have an enormous library in your house.” Dain gaped as he walked into the library, running his fingers over the books as he passed them. He turned in a circle, taking in the shelves upon shelves of books, then grinned widely when he spotted the library ladder. “No way!”

He ran over to it, hopped up, and gave it a push.

I laughed, watching my grouchy werewolf turn into a little kid who’d discovered a fun toy.

It was made even better since he was still only in his boxer briefs, a tight t-shirt, and bright pink fuzzy socks.

He pushed himself around the entire circumference of the room, coming to stop in front of me.

With the biggest grin I’d seen yet, he turned to me and said, “This is the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if you’ll ever get me out of here.”

I laughed and pulled him into my arms, kissing his forehead. “You’re welcome here anytime, love. In fact, I’d love it if you never left.”

“Are you asking me to move in with you?”

“Only if you want to… whenever you’re ready.” Shit, I didn’t mean to pressure him. It was too soon for this, wasn’t it? We were viramores, but that didn’t mean he was ready for such a big step.

He glanced at me, leaned in, and gave me a sweet kiss. “I’ll think about it.”

Well, at least it hadn’t made him run.

After he perused a few of the shelves, I asked, “Can I show you my favorite room now?”

He paused. “Wait. This isn’t it?”

I shook my head and held my hand out, a thrill shooting through me when he took it without hesitation. “This is my second favorite, but my favorite is a little higher up.”

I tugged him over to one of the shelves, pushed a specific fake book, and the shelf popped open like a door.

“Holy shit, a secret passageway! This is the coolest place ever.”

I snickered and pulled him inside. There was a curved staircase that held way too many stairs, so I gestured to the elevator.

“How do you have an elevator in your house?”

I shrugged. “Magic.”

“That’s your answer for everything.”

With a chuckle, I closed up the elevator and hit a button.

Dain stared at the glowing buttons for a long moment. “Huh. You have electricity all the way out here. I didn’t think about that until now.”

“Of course I do, but this elevator is run on—”

“Let me guess—magic.”

“You got it.”

We shared a smile as it slowed to a stop, and I opened the door, revealing a small, circular room at the top of the tallest tower.

It was filled with giant pillows as big as a bed, lots of blankets, a bookshelf with some of my favorite rereads, and a telescope at one of the windows that I mostly used to stargaze.

There were tapestries and fabric hung along the walls, making it feel even more cozy.

“Wow. This is beautiful.”

“Thank you. It’s my favorite place to read.”

“I thought the tower was here to, like, make sure enemies aren’t attacking or something.”

I nodded in acquiesce. “That’s true, but I haven’t needed it for that in a very long time. Hopefully, I won’t need it for that ever again.”

He offered me a grin. “Hopefully.”

“It seemed like a waste not to make this into a reading nook, so…” I shrugged as he continued taking everything in.

Without warning, I took a running leap, landing heavily on the biggest pillow in the room. Dain laughed and landed on the bottom of the pillow, then crawled up when I opened my arms in invitation. He scooted into my side, snuggling up to me with a soft, satisfied sigh.

Kissing his forehead, I settled in, ready to stay here for the rest of the day and night.

He yawned after a few minutes of cuddling. “Ugh. I’m beat. Take a nap with me?”

I grinned. “Sure.”

“When we wake up, you can feed me and show me the rest of your castle.”

“Oh, can I now?”

“Uh-huh, you sure can.”

I chuckled. “Sounds like a plan, sweetheart. But also, not a castle.”

“Sure it isn’t.”

I snorted. “Fine… you can call it a castle if you want.”

He patted my chest. “What a good yeti.”

I smacked his shoulder lightly. “Oh my Goddess. Rude.”

He snorted and pressed a kiss to my chest. “Just kidding… kind of.”

With a chuckle, I hugged him tight, closed my eyes, ready to let sleep take me, knowing my viramore was safe in my arms, guarding my icicle with the love in his heart.

“Avalanche Snowflake Rudolphus!” a loud, high-pitched voice yelled from somewhere in the house, making both of us startle in surprise. “Get down here right now, young man!”

I winced. “Shit. That’s my mom.” I glanced down at Dain. “Sooooo… ready to meet my parents?”

He snorted. “Definitely not, but… let’s do it anyway.” He sat up, scrubbing his face with his hand. “Um… can we put on pants first?”

I chuckled. “Yeah, we can stop in my bedroom to grab them for sure.”

“Good, ‘cause I definitely don’t want to meet your parents in my underwear.”

We both laughed, and he smiled at me, looking carefree and happier than I’d ever seen him.

“I am happy,” he whispered. “You make me happy.”

I started to melt into a puddle of goo until my dad’s voice yelled, “Son! We need to see that you’re okay! Get your ass down here!”

I winced, and Dain chuckled. “Oh boy. This should be interesting.”

That wasn’t the word I’d use for it.

Dain climbed off the giant pillow, then held his hand out to me. “Let’s do this thing.”

I took his hand without hesitation and snorted in amusement, then gave him a big kiss and led the way downstairs.
