Chapter 4 Dragon Sex #2
“She’s a good person. You don’t know her. She’s just had bad influences in her life,” Caden mumbled. “Turn left here. Her parents’ place is at the end of the block. Ranch style house with green shutters.”
“We’ll park half a block away. They would not have been able to reach here yet,” Valerius said. “We’ll see them if they come here.”
Valerius pulled the SUV over to the side of the road, careful to be as far away from any street lamps.
He turned off the engine and lights. Darkness filled the interior of the SUV.
All of the blinds of the house’s windows were drawn, but there were still several lights on.
One in the front room and another in a television room.
The flickering blue-white light of a television identified that space.
Valerius wondered what it would be like for Landry’s parents, thinking that all of their children were dead, while staring at the television.
Was the television watching occurring because the parents wanted to dull themselves to the pain of losing all of their kids?
Did they stare at it vacant-eyed? Maybe they didn’t believe their children were dead.
Maybe they had been told that Landry and her brothers would become Shifters and that had happened.
What joy they would experience having their children return.
Except it wouldn’t be their children. It would be the Behemoth.
The engine’s ticking was the only noise for a moment, but Illarion could not help but banish the silence.
“Again, what is our plan?” Illarion asked.
“You’re hoping for a fight, aren’t you?” Valerius sighed.
“Aren’t you? I am sick of this sitting and waiting while the Behemoth dances all around us, killing people,” Illarion said with a shake of his head.
“Yes, I see your point. But whatever action we take must be careful. We don’t know what we’re dealing with,” Valerius said, even as he, too, wanted to bust some heads.
“It seems to me,” Caden said, “that we have a couple options here if Landry and her brothers are not hurting anyone. First, we can watch them and follow where they go from here. Or the second option is Illarion’s, which is that we capture and imprison them.
Even if the parts of the Behemoth can leave them, at least we’ve freed them from that creature. ”
“Hopefully, the Spirit is not the only thing keeping those bodies alive,” Illarion said with a grimace.
“Do you think that our Spirits could inhabit our bodies without us?” Caden’s eyes widened.
“No, because there are too many Spirits who would make that choice,” Valerius said with a shake of his head.
“Mephous and I are completely aligned, but it took a great deal of time for Mephous to find me,” Illarion stated. “Mephous is not a patient creature and would have acted before if it thought it could. So I guess my idea is shit.”
Illarion chortled, enjoying that idea, for some reason.
“How long would it take to get here from the Below?” Caden asked, checking the time. “Thirty minutes walking at least, right?”
Valerius nodded. “That is if they are walking. They may have vehicles.”
“Right.” Caden sighed.
“That gives us time to talk!” Illarion grinned.
Perhaps I spoke too soon about how it is a good idea you befriending Illarion, Caden, Valerius sent over their bond.
Caden laughed, but said, “Okay, Illarion, what do you want to talk about?”
“Sex,” Illarion stated.
“W-what?” Caden twisted around in the seat to look at Illarion. He unclipped his seatbelt.
“You and Valerius are the first and only Dragons to--to mate,” Illarion explained. “One of the others thinks that our mates may be imprisoned in the Behemoth. So--”
“You want to know what sex is like with another Dragon Shifter?” Caden filled in.
“I am not discussing sex with you, Illarion,” Valerius growled.
“There is a big helix rotating over your castle. Everyone is talking about your sex life,” Illarion said as he also pointed outside the window to where the helix still slowly spun.
“He’s got a point, Valerius.” Caden looked amused.
“You want to discuss this with him?” Valerius’ eyebrows lifted.
Caden shrugged. “He can ask questions and we can decide whether or not to answer them.” His amusement dipped a bit. “Besides, it’s better than thinking bad things.”
Valerius reached over and put one of his hands over Caden’s. Caden turned his hand over so that they could link fingers.
“Ask your questions, but annoy me too much, Illarion, and…” Valerius left the threat unsaid. Illarion could fill in the blank.
Illarion though was unconcerned. He rubbed his hands together eagerly and Valerius wondered if his bark was getting to be ignored and he needed to bite more.
“Is there anything unusual when you have sex?” Illarion asked.
“You mean besides the giant helix?” Caden let out a faint laugh.
“Besides that. Yes. I need to know what I should expect when I free my voluptuous mate from her prison,” Illarion said.
“You make so many assumptions in that sentence, Illarion, my head hurts because of it,” Valerius muttered.
“What? Is not Caden perfect for you? Do your loins not light on fire when you see him?” The Green Dragon King sat up straighter.
“Let us hope they do not light you on fire literally,” Valerius said quietly. “But your point is made. Although, for all we know, Caden and I were just lucky.”
“No, no, I refuse to believe that!” Illarion sliced a hand through the air. “My mate shall be a buxom blonde with huge blue eyes and skin as pale as snow. A Siberian beauty. I will drape her in furs and diamonds. She will glitter for me.”
Why am I picturing a dumpling-shaped Russian grandmother batting her eyes at Illarion? Caden sent to Valerius.
He snorted. It would serve him right. Though I think a more mature woman might be just what he needs to keep him in line.
I can see her hitting him with her purse when he’s a naughty Dragon King, Caden giggled.
And he would adore her. His grandmotherly mate who demands his loyalty above all things, Valerius said, getting into this imagining very much.
“You best hope that there is such a woman in the city, Illarion, or your mate will return to the Spirit Realm,” Valerius told him.
“And she’ll have to be in danger of something traumatic happening to her,” Caden pointed out, feeling badly about that.
“Bah! It will work out! You two have proven to me that true love is real,” Illarion said, leaning forward again and resting his chin on his hands.
“You believe in true love?” Caden’s eyebrows rose. “Because of Valerius and me?”
“You didn’t know him before you showed up. He was very grumpy,” Illarion said with a flash of an almost charming grin.
“He’s got you there, Valerius,” Caden chuckled.
Valerius tightened his hand around Caden’s. “I was just unamused.”
That caused Caden to laugh harder. Illarion’s chuckles were added.
When the laughing petered out, Caden said, “Now, to answer your question, yes, stuff happens that’s not normal. Our powers happen.”
“While you are making love?” Illarion gaped.
“Yeah, we were ah… okay, I’m not going to go into details here--”
“By the Gods, no!” Illarion agreed.
“You are the one who wanted to discuss this and now you are squeamish?” Valerius asked.
“Do you want to think of me having sex?” Illarion challenged him.
Valerius pursed his lips. “Point made. But yes, our powers do turn on at times.”
“Not bad ones! Like aggressive ones, I mean,” Caden assured him.
“There are no bad ones!” Illarion stated.
“Ah, you would think there were if you let out a poison gas that killed everybody, right?” Both of Caden’s eyebrows lifted.
“Hmmmm, there’s something to that.” Illarion shrugged. His eyes narrowed. “Now have you had sex in your Dragon form?”
Valerius frozen. Caden did too. Raziel and Iolaire were currently curled around one another, sleeping.
One of Raziel’s forelegs was resting possessively on Iolaire’s side.
Black smoke leaked from his Spirit’s nostrils while a thin stream of frost issued from Iolaire’s.
They looked so innocent. The thought of them having sex seemed wrong somehow.
“They kiss by resting their foreheads together,” Caden said, which sounded like a non sequitur.
“Yes, but kissing is not necessary to have sex,” Illarion pointed out.
“Yeah, but having sex organs is sort of necessary for the kind of sex you’re talking about,” Caden refuted.
“Why do you think Dragons don’t? Mephous has a huge Dragon cock.” Illarion bobbed his head.
Valerius was quiet for a moment and then said, “Bullshit! Dragons have no sex!’
“Oh, Raziel does not have a big Dragon cock?” Illarion grinned. “Perhaps Raziel is a female!”
“So what if Raziel is?” Valerius scowled at him. “What is it with your attitude towards women? You know they are equal to men.”
“They are the weaker sex,” Illarion insisted.
“You’re delusional,” Caden said with a shake of his head. “Your own experiences with Mei, Esme, Jahara and Kaila should show you that.”
“They are Dragon Shifters so, of course, they are unusual,” Illarion persisted.
“What about Rose? She’s no shrinking violet!” Caden insisted.
“She is a Bee Shifter. Again, a different type from the usual woman,” Illarion stated.
“Okay, Tilly.” Caden looked at Illarion triumphantly. “My sister took none of your shit.”
Illarion stroked his chin. “Your sister is also unusual.”
“Funny how every woman we’ve talked about is unusual,” Valerius pointed out dryly. “It is almost like all women are.”
“Mephous is still male with a large--”
“Dragon cock, yes, we know,” Caden replied with a sigh. “Have you seen it?”
Illarion was silent.
“You haven’t! You liar!” Valerius let out a bark of laughter that was loud enough to practically shake the SUV.
“I thought we were trying to be unobtrusive,” Illarion retorted acidly. “You are waking the whole neighborhood.”
“Not Landry’s parents though.” Caden gestured towards the house. The lights in the front room and television room were now out. “Looks like they’ve gone to bed.”
To mourn their children, Valerius thought sadly, but then shook himself.
Landry and her brothers were still alive. Their souls were likely still in those bodies. They might be overcome by the Behemoth’s control like the Dragon Spirits it controlled, but where there was life, there was hope.
“It’s been about an hour,” Valerius said.
“They still might come,” Caden said, though he didn’t sound very certain of it.
“Mephous’ cock is huge. He is just hiding it until the right moment,” Illarion muttered, clearly unable to let that topic go.
Valerius shook his head. “It would serve you right if Dragons did have a biological sex and Mephous was a female.”
“He has a big--”
“Stop! Quiet!” Caden lifted a hand to silence them. “I think I see movement. There! Look!”
Three shadowy figures raced across the darkest part of the street ahead of them. They were crouched low and moved in a startling similar posture. Their legs pumped at the exact same time as if they had planned it that way.
There was a tense silence in the vehicle as they watched the front door, but the figures didn’t go there, but instead disappeared behind a hedge around the side of the house.
“We will not be able to see anything from here,” Illarion said and was already out of the car before either Valerius or Caden could call him back.
Caden exchanged a helpless look with Valerius. They popped open their doors and the moment they did so, they heard a thin, female scream coming from the house that was suddenly cut off. They broke into a run towards the house.
Over their bond, Valerius heard Caden pray, Please, Landry, fight against whatever the Behemoth wants you to do! We’re coming!
