Epilogue
"Lottie, we're going to be late!"
" I know! I need like five more minutes. "
"You said that five minutes ago," Mason deadpanned.
"Ya and that's what I thought I needed. Now, it's look ing like the minutes. "
"Ten?!" He screeched.
" Wanna make it twenty? "
"No," he said, gruffly.
"Go wait in the living room," I said as I pushed him gently out of the bathroom.
" I'll be there in twenty. " Once he was fully out into the corridor, I turned and slammed the door shut before he could say anything.
Muffled by the door, I heard him exhale a deep, exaggerated with before heading his footsteps sound further and further away.
After the night Mason came over, we got take out and stayed up all night talking and getting to know each other, as Mason and Charlotte. Over the following nights, we created a little bit of a routine as it got to a point where most of my clothes ended up occupying most of his closet.
Mason asked me if I would be open to moving in with him, officially.
I was a little apprehensive and stressed about the idea since we hadn't been dating very long at that point.
In the end, I knew it felt right and it didn't take much convincing for me to say yes.
I've never looked back since. I've never been happier.
Well, until now.
I looked down at the stick on the counter and couldn't help the smile breaking out into my face. Before Mason sulked into the washroom, I had it with a nearby small handtowel.
Our family was about to grow and I couldn't wait to tell him.
Ever since Emma, my niece, was born Mason has been begging for a child.
Deciding to tell him later, I slid the cap back on and placed it in the top drawer.
I made my way into the living room, gently putting each of my earrings on before sliding into my heels.
"Ready," I said as I wiped my palms over my hips, straightening the dresses out of the dress I wore.
"Perfect. You look amazing, Lottie." He said, slowly walking towards me. Once he was close, he gripped both sides of my waist and pulled me against him. He nuzzled my neck, leaving a small trail of electric kisses.
"Weren't you the one complaining that we had to go?" I asked, my voice somewhat breathy.
" We're already late. What's another hour? "
At this, I laughed and pulled back.
"Okay, big guy, let's go before Ophelia kills me."
" Don't worry. I won't let her. "
"Didn't you tell me just yesterday that you were scared of her?"
" Um, yeah in confidence. She has the non state down to perfection. I get chills even when it's not directed at me. "
I let out a loud laugh, my head falling back.
He continued, "I can't wait to see your mom stare. It's gonna be so badass."
I bit my lip, trying to kill the smile that wanted to break out.
One thing I developed over the years with Mason is that I could never hide something from him.
The moment I heard of found out about something, I had this urge to tell him.
Luckily, he was the same way. We were just always excited to share things with each other.
Which is why I blurted out the next words.
"Can you go get my brush in the washroom, top drawer? I just need to send an email real quick."
" Of course, I'll be right back, " he said with a small kiss to my forehead. He tried to maintain his bright expression but I could see that my lack of response to that specific subject bothered him.
I watched as he made his way down the long corridor and into the washroom. I heard the drawer open, but never close. After several unnerving second of silence, he made his way out of the washroom and into the hallway to face me.
Without saying a word, he raised the stick and pointed at my stomach with a hopeful expression.
I nodded, a small laugh leaving my trembling smile.
A beautiful smile out up his features and he ran towards me and lifted me up into his arms. I squealed as he squeezed me tight and spun me around as he laughed.
"Yes, fuck, yes! You're going to be a mom. You're carrying out kid!"
" You're going to be a dad! "
"Thank you! Thank you so much. Seeing you carrying our kid..wow..I'm going to be a dad. Me!" I could tell he was at a loss for words but everything he wanted to say could be found in the brightness of his eyes.
He kissed me, long and hard while entangling our fingers together.
"We should go," I said, pulling back from the kiss. "Ophelia is gonna have my head for being late to Emma's party."
" Yes, but all will be forgiven when we tell her we're giving her a niece. "
"Niece?" I asked, as I placed a hand over my skin stomach.
" Father's intuition. " With that, he placed his hand over mine, rubbing his thump gently over my skin.
If you had told me standing in for my twin would have brought me where I am today, I would not be believe you. I'm immensely grateful I did as I look at my future husband and carry out child.
