Chapter 35
SERATH
I t’s back and getting closer. I can hear its breath, smell it, a faint scent like burning wood and kindling. “This is my domain. You can’t have it.”
It moves to my left, hovering there, waiting.
Because that is all it needs to do.
Wait.
I can feel my grip on this place fading as my strength wanes. If I allow it, I can hear the hum of voices, and if I tune in, I can make out words.
“The connection is made.”
“Is it secure?”
“Yes.”
“So if we administer it now?”
“It should work.”
“Then do it.”
The shadow moves closer, but there’s no threat in the motion. Instead, I sense…fear?
I turn to face it, but it melts away, and cold fire rushes over my skin. It coalesces at the base of my spine, pulsing and circling my hips to collect in my groin.
A moan slips from my lips as hands skim up my back.
“I’m here,” Cameron says. “I’m so here for this.”
I turn to face her, my body rippling with need. She’s naked and glorious in the moonlight, her gray eyes filled with stars as she reaches for me, mouth parting in carnal hunger.
My need is almost painful as I attempt to push her away. “We can’t…Cameron, you know we can’t.”
“Yes, we can. It’s safe here. It’s just a dream, remember?”
I want her so fucking badly it’s a clawing beneath my skin.
She runs her hand down her abdomen to the apex of her thighs and touches herself, eyes drifting closed as she tips back her head with a moan and a gasp. I can smell her, fuck…I can?—
My beast surges to the surface, and I’m on her, pressing her into the grass, hips between her thighs, cock pushing against her.
“Yes!” She bends her knees and brings her legs up. “Fuck me. Do it now.”
Her eyes flash an eerie silver. No. This isn’t Cameron. This is?—
Bright lights sear my vision, and a shadow moves above me, feminine gasps of pleasure filling the room.
The woman looks down at me with eyes as dark as the depths of the ocean, red mouth parted as she pants, moving up and down.
No…My body tightens, aching for release.
No. This is wrong, this isn’t?—
Heat floods my veins, need tearing away all thought, allowing my primal beast to take over completely.
The gathering shadows close in, ripping the memory from my mind and leaving me in darkness.
Emptiness.
I am nothing.
Gone.
