Chapter 48

As soon asthe flight landed, I checked my phone for information from the PI. He’d sent me an image of the two women who had attacked Vivian standing next to a luxury car I recognized.

Though I was tired from the long flight, I drove to a beauty salon near Ormon’s Restaurant, where Sylvia hung out. This shit had to stop. I entered and spotted her in the lounge with two of her friends.

She saw me, beamed, and rushed over. “Hey, babe. Miss me?”

I inhaled a breath. “We need to talk. Privately.”

“Sure.” She looked over at the receptionist. “Can we use your office, Rachel?”

Rachel nodded, and I stalked inside with Sylvia.

“What is it?” She placed her hand on my arm.

I gripped her wrist, removing her hand from me. “I know what you did.”

“What are you talking about?”

I showed her the image. “This is a crime.”

She twisted her lips. “That’s not me.”

“Your license plate is visible when you zoom in. It won’t take the police long to link you to the two women who attacked Vivian. Stay away from her.” I warned.

Sylvia pouted. “You blocked me!”

“We’re not dating, and you were being inappropriate.”

“But I love you.”

I snorted. “You love the image of me with you. That’s not love.”

“You’re taking her to Monaco!” Her voice rose. “I called the committee and asked them.”

“She’s my girlfriend, Sylvia. Leave her alone, or you’ll regret it.”

“My father sponsored your wine. All I have to do is tell him you pissed me off. He’ll cancel the business contract.”

“Go ahead. I agreed to the contract because it would benefit your father’s restaurant. But things have changed. You crossed the line.” I stared at her. “Listen carefully: my wine doesn’t need your father’s endorsement. I don’t give a shit whether his restaurant carries my wine. But if you harass Vivian again, I’ll ruin his business. And we both know you need your father’s wealth to support your lavish lifestyle.”

She glared at me as I walked out of the room and slammed the door behind me.
