Chapter 12

Iwoke up in the morning to Solaris softly snoring beside me in bed. I smiled right away as I remembered exploring him last night. He’d tried to act like nothing was that different—and, sure, he was exactly the same guy on the inside. But on the outside…

He was on his stomach beside me, a huge wing lying on me like a thin, soft sheet. He’d said last night that his wings were tougher than they looked, especially now that they were so much larger. He hadn’t wanted me to treat him like he was delicate.

With lust filling my veins, I got out from under his wing and moved over to get between his thighs.

He continued making snuffling noises as I smoothed my hands down his flanks and over his asscheeks.

It wasn’t a comfortable feeling to pet him in an upward motion, flipping his feathers over, so I only stroked him from the top down.

His wings did a lazy lift and fall as he sighed.

Last night, I’d spent a long time fondling and sucking on his cock and balls. They were blue! I couldn’t help how much that tickled me, even if he kept rolling his eyes at me. Well, until I had him coming down my throat, anyway.

Right now, though, I wanted to play with his dark turquoise blue asshole. The feathers on his cheeks pointed the way to my prize as I pulled them apart. He shifted his legs and mumbled something, but kept sleeping. Hopefully, he wouldn’t mind waking up to my tongue in his hole.

I leaned down and shoved my stubbled face between his cheeks. He tasted musky and warm, and a shiver went through him. I found myself closing my eyes and moaning, remembering how much I loved doing this.

Hearing him gasp, I glanced up to see him looking over his shoulder. “Wallace?”

I chuckled into his hole.

He moaned and tipped his ass up like an invitation. “I thought I was dreaming…”

I liked the idea of dream me and real me rimming his tight little hole together. Poking my tongue in and out of him, I watched him drop his head down on the pillow, his antlers scratching at the headboard.

I licked up his crack and lifted my head. “Can I fuck you, honey? Just like this?” To emphasize my desire, I popped my thumb into his hole.

He made a desperate sound. “Yes. Oh, please, Wally.”

A shiver of want went through me this time as I lunged for the lube that was still sitting on the bedside table. He spread his legs wider, knees digging into the mattress to lift his ass, and then he was slowly humping the mattress. I smiled as I watched him and slicked my dick.

He made the most beautiful whimper when I eased a finger inside him to coat his hole.

Whatever this fairy lube was made from, it never stopped being exceptionally slick.

I loved it, and I knew he did, too. I heard his breath catch as I pressed my cockhead to his glistening hole,.

As I eased inside him, it was one long moan out of both of us.

He was so tight and hot and wet. Fucking Solaris was absolute heaven.

I started slowly, savoring the slide of my dick inside him. But then he was bucking under me, and I knew he wanted harder and faster. I hauled him up onto his knees and gave him the pounding he wanted.

“Yes!” he hollered. “Fuck me!”

Oh, I was. I would’ve been gentler with anyone else, but my fairy boyfriend liked for me to wreck his tight little ass. I’d had four fingers in him last night and it hadn’t been enough. The quick slap of our skin sounded like a someone running across a granite floor.

When he stuffed a hand under himself, I knew he was close. Thank god, too, because I was about to— “Fuck! Aw, fuck…”

I held him on my cock and panted for breath as he moaned and moaned again. I thought we might’ve come at the same time right there. That was pretty awesome.

After another minute or so, I pulled out of him, gave one cheek a very appreciative squeeze, and laid down beside him after he rolled to his side.

Immediately, he cuddled right up into my chest, his head tucked under my chin.

I would’ve thought that couldn’t work with someone who had antlers sticking out of his head, but they framed my face without getting in the way.

“Wallace?” he whispered. “I… I love you.”

I honest-to-god felt tears burn at my eyes. This was so crazy. This was so right. I kissed his forehead and said, “Yeah, I love you, too.”

Suddenly, the bed shook like we were having an earthquake. Just like yesterday down by the barrier. We stared at each other. Was that the curse knowing he loved me? That had to mean something important. It had to.

Despite wanting to spend endless days in bed with the love of my life, neither of us could lose sight of why we’d come back to the castle.

Nobody was one hundred percent sure about what needed to happen to break the curse, but that Solaris had returned to his natural state had me thinking we were on the right track.

So he needed to get back on his throne and lead his people.

I liked the look of him sitting there, wings spread wide behind him and antlers stretching over his head. I even liked the frown on his face as he glared at me because the line of people wanting an audience stretched across the room and into the hallway. I blew him a kiss.

Honestly, I got it. After the first half-hour, I was ready to call it a day, too.

Somebody wanted to know what to do about a road that had been worn down to reveal tons of rocks that were making it hard to pass.

Another person was up in arms over the filth in the street on the south side of the village within the castle walls.

Five vendors wanted to be able to enter the castle from the north, right off the river, instead of having to come all the way around to the front gate.

But in listening to them, I started to realize that Solaris needed intermediaries. Folks with an official capacity to make decisions that didn’t need princely input would take a lot of this off his plate.

I remembered back to him making a quip about somebody seeing to it that running water be made available to every village in the court. Did that person actually exist? Because maybe they should.

After an hour, Solaris had started leaning on one of the armrests of his throne and rubbing his left temple. Headache? Same, babe. It was time for me to do something or else I might be looking at re-kidnapping him in the near future.

While Solaris listened—or pretended to listen—to two men argue over property lines, I went over to the guy whose job seemed to be introducing the people waiting in line to see their prince. He was elderly, rickety, and for a second there, I’d thought I was looking at Lars from the pub.

“Hey, hi,” I said once I’d tottered my way over to him because I was still forced to wear heels. “Can I interrupt for a second?”

“Of course, sir. How can I help?”

“I was wondering if you could coordinate clearing the room so His Highness could take a break.”

“Why yes, sir, absolutely.” He leaned around me a bit to peer at Solaris. “He is looking rather…”

“Frustrated.”

“…Murderous.”

A laugh jumped out of me. “Well, that may be aimed at me for dragging him back here, but I have an idea to help myself and the rest of you that I’d like to discuss with him.”

“Right away, sir.” He gave me a brief bow, called over some of the people who’d been lining the walls looking like they were waiting for orders, and all of them started shooing everyone from the room.

I made my way over to Solaris, who was sitting up and looking around with interest.

“What have you done?” he asked. “Are we leaving?”

“No, we’re not leaving,” I said on a chuckle. “You’re taking a break, and I have some questions.”

“Oh.” He slumped in his seat.

“First, remember when you said that you’d take putting running water in every village to someone to put on their agenda?”

He nodded. “The Utilities Minister, Lady Christina Astrid.”

“Okay, great. So what does she do?”

“Projects relating to water, gas, light… They fall under her purview.”

I had to take a moment to clarify because what? “Light?”

He gestured to the flickering wall sconce beside him. “Candle production.”

“Huh. Okay. So why wasn’t the guy who came here wanting to talk about his bees dying or the woman with the dried-up well sent to Lady Astrid instead of you?”

“The bees?”

“No bees, no beeswax. For candles?”

“Oh.” He cocked his head like he was considering that. “I sent him to Husbandry, but I sent the well woman to Utilities.”

“At the time I didn’t realize Husbandry was Lord Penlock and Utilities was Lady Astrid.”

“Yes, I used their names, not their ministries.” He frowned at me like he had no idea where I was going with this.

“That’s fine. I just didn’t know. But,” I said, “why couldn’t these people have gone there first? Why did you have to direct them?”

Solaris blinked at me. Yeah, poor thing, he’d never even considered that. “They…should have.”

I nodded, trying to be encouraging instead of bopping him on the head for not seeing the obvious.

“Maybe someone—or a lot of someones—could go out there and hear these people out to see how many actually need to go somewhere else for solutions. You know? If they don’t need a final decision that only you can make, then they don’t need to be here.”

“But if they don’t come to me, why am I here?” he said with a flash of temper. “This is why I kept leaving! Whether I’m here or not, they can make their own decisions.”

“And that’s a good thing.” I got down on one knee, resting a hand on his leg. “You want your court to run efficiently. People getting help, projects running on time—all of that.”

He sighed but nodded and covered my hand with his.

“I’m not saying it’s wrong,” I went on, “for your people to come to you. But when they’ll be better served by going somewhere else, it’s a waste of your time and theirs. I mean, you become a sign with arrows—”

Solaris groaned and slumped deeper into his throne.
