Chapter 13
Glimpses. That was all Lila felt for so long.
A brush of fur on her arm.
The bruising grip of a rough palm dragged down her thigh, nails biting.
A rush of wind through her hair.
A leathery touch of a wing against her fingers.
The salty taste of tears coating her lips. Cheeks wet.
A metallic smell of blood invading her senses.
A sharp sting of something piercing her neck, lips sucking at her skin.
The nothingness in her chest hollowing further. Emptiness was all she knew.
And then she would slip back into nothing.
